Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 256: Come to my room
’’Oh, Lucy. What am I going to do with you?" he pressed his forehead against hers, ’’There are very few things that can faze me in this world. And memories are not one of them. They do not matter. Even if they did, I would rather be here with you and have nightmares than stay away from you and have sweet dreams.’’
Luciana’s lips parted and her breathing fastened. Such sweet words. Did he... always have this effect on her?
A faint blush crept up her cheeks.
’’Now...’’ Cardan pulled back from her, ’’Are you going to tell me what lies your father spouted about you doing cultivation behind closed doors? And why are you here?"
Luciana stiffened.
Cardan narrowed his eyes.
The horse neighed.
Luciana: "_"
’’Just go away,’’ she pushed him away and mounted the horse to run away from the man.
But the man was not slower than her as he jumped on the horse within a moment, ’’Answer me, Lucy,’’ he murmured as he wrapped both his strong arms around her waist and nuzzled his chin on her neck.
Luciana felt like delicate flowers were roaming her body. Gently caressing her skin.
His question was already hard to answer but now he had to do this.
What answering was she going to do?
She had qualms about being able to ride this horse decently.
’’Cardan, let go of me. We have nothing going on between us for me to answer your silly questions.’’
’’Not letting go. You are mine,’’ Cardan bit her neck, "You looked at me warmly before you lost consciousness. You did not call me silly when I was kissing you."
’’You...’’
’’You are even calling me by my name now, Lucy. We have something going on,’’ Cardan whined, but his teeth grazing over her skin was nowhere as mischievous as his words. It was intense and passionate and her body was a mangle of mess, ’’Now answer me.’’
Luciana glanced at the sky.
Which god was responsible for punishments? Was she being punished for provoking Esme back when they first met?
But then, she had not been a saintly child after her mother passed away so she did not even know for which sin she was being punished.
’’Lucy, are you thinking about another man?" Cardan bit her earlobe harder.
"_"
’’Get off me, you dog.’’ 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
’’Your dog. All yours,’’ Cardan chuckled, ’’Now, answer.’’
Luciana wanted to bang her head somewhere.
...
In the Crystal Castle.
The dinner table was quiet except for the King badgering Esme over this and that.
’’You are feeling well, aren’t you?" Rezeph asked for the fifth time. Watching her unconscious last night had gotten on his mind. He was restraining himself to not bring that on so that he did not come across as too protective and clingy but still, the question slipped from his mouth every two minutes.
Esme pursed her lips, ’’I am fine,’’ she wanted to roll her eyes but this was no ordinary man. What if he was offended and decided to dig out her eyes?
’’Eat more. How can you faint inside the sea?’’ Rezeph’s voice was filled with disdain but having known the man for so long, Aleister could hear the concern in it, ’’Mermaids breath water. You lose your breath in there. This is why I keep you in the castle. So delicate.’’
Esme frowned, ’’This was one time...’’ she trailed off when she felt Jeremiah placing a comforting palm on hers.
Aleister’s gaze hardened. Although he could not see anything but he could see their hands down, he could see their eyes meeting... He has been in that position once. It would be strange if he did not understand.
It was as if a fist clenched his heart, making it hard to breathe.
Suppressing his emotions, he twirled his fingers and with a wave, all the dishes slid towards her side, ’’Eat more,’’ he nonchalantly said.
She ignored the food in front of her and remained fixated on whatever crumbs were left on her plate, ’’I don’t eat much.’’
Liar. You don’t eat much with others around. You used to eat like a little hamster when you ate with me.
’’I heard that you both want to get married in a few days,’’ Rezeph glanced at Esme and Jeremiah who looked at each other before nodding shyly.
’’In a few days,’’ Esme responded calmly.
’Bam’
Aleister pushed himself up to his feet.
Jeremiah glared at the man as if calling him out on his impudence or behaving that way in the King’s presence.
Rezeph merely raised a disapproving brow.
And Esme... the person responsible for his actions was for was busy pushing more food towards Jeremiah.
A cold smirk graced Aleister’s lips as he let his gaze roam around the room.
His eyes stopped on one particular woman, ’’You... Dorie, come to my room,’’ he turned around and walked out without looking back.
’Clang’
The fork in Esme’s hand dropped on the table as her head snapped up.
She watched him walk out.
The woman he asked for bowed to the King who nodded and excused herself. She was the same woman he was talking to in the garden this morning while her twin talked to Cardan.
’’My disciple is not that shy after all,’’ Rezeph tilted his head to the side as a glint flashed in his eyes.
’’How did your cultivation go?" Rezeph asked Jeremiah nonchalantly as if all of that just did not happen.
Jeremiah shifted his attention to the King as he responded, ’’Your Majesty, I am grateful to you. I was able to reflect on my actions and cultivate my powers.’’
Rezeph nodded, ’’Also...’’ he paused and glanced at Esme, ’’You look pale.’’
’’I still feel a bit sick. I lied to not make you worry,’’ Esme said in one breath as she avoided the King’s eyes, ’’I want to go back to my room to rest.’’
Jeremiah patted the back of her hand, ’’You should take rest.’’
Rezeph nodded, ’’You can leave.’’
Jeremiah stood up.
Esme frowned.
’’You stay here. The heir apparent was punished for so long,’’ Rezeph cast a disapproving glare at the man as he said, ’’Don’t you think you should know about the kingdom’s affairs?"
