Era of Magic and Martial Arts-Chapter 332 - 316: Even Fear Is Enjoyable
The cart wheels creaked as they turned, the axles filled with black-red sludge, rotating round and round like minced meat in a blender.
In the next second, it jammed and stopped.
Lou Rui angrily kicked the stalled wheel, and his boot was instantly covered in wet, shredded meat remnants.
He irritably tugged at his collar, then spat fiercely in the direction of the cart, cursing:
"Those bastards in Death Row make a mess and just drop it on us to handle, fuck their mothers."
Lou Rui’s face was rugged, simmering with years of accumulated anger and discontent beneath his coarse skin.
His thick and unruly eyebrows were like two untrimmed bushes, his eyes deeply sunken as if they were ready to burst into flames, giving him an overall appearance of a hot-tempered brute.
He cursed fiercely a few more times, and seeing the cart still wouldn’t move, his face turned even darker as he kicked it several more times.
The heap of corpses on the cart wobbled and toppled, the top body hit the ground with a thud, the twisted and ghastly dead face now revealed in the Death Row prison guard uniform.
The timid prison guard beside him couldn’t stand it and softly advised:
"Isn’t it possible that colleagues in Death Row didn’t choose to leave things unattended, but they just all fell?"
Upon hearing this, Lou Rui’s anger burned even more fiercely, his eyes widened as he glared, shouting:
"In the end, aren’t they just slacking off?"
The timid prison guard, unable to speak, met Lou Rui’s fierce gaze, involuntarily shrinking his neck as he felt a familiar phantom pain of being choked. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
He lowered his head, moved forward, and bent down to lift the body inch by inch, struggling to load it onto the cart.
The blood oozed out along the body during the dragging process, gradually soaking his hair, yet he uttered not a sound, just silently continued the heavy task.
Lou Rui offered no help, merely stood watching with a cold smile, urging relentlessly:
"Hurry up, dawdling like this, when can I clock out? I don’t want to work overtime in this stinking place tonight."
Perhaps desiring to finish early, Lou Rui finally resumed helping with complaints, lifting the corpse together.
Yet, his complaints grew more piercing: "What a bunch of useless idiots, heavy as hell, why didn’t they lose weight before dying, damn unlucky."
Suddenly, a trembling and hoarse voice chimed in, "Then surely you lost weight beforehand?"
Lou Rui immediately let go, the corpse fell again, bringing down the unwary prison guard with it.
The timid guard, trapped beneath the corpse, nervously glanced at the speaker, the face seemed familiar, like someone constantly ordered by Lou Rui when he first reported...a senior?
But for some reason, transferred to another prison area, he replaced him... What was his name again ... Guan Chong?!!
Lou Rui turned to the side, recognizing the newcomer, he instinctively reached out to clutch his neck, a sinister grin spreading across his lips:
"Ah, it’s you, almost scared me to death. But you’ve shown up at the right time, I have some work for you to help with, surely you wouldn’t refuse?"
The scene overlapping with the nightmare memory, Guan Chong’s body instinctively froze, as once again that rough hand clamped around his throat.
Listening to the familiar voice, often recurring in his nightmares, Guan Chong’s teeth chattered, his own voice trembling: "Sure, I’ll help you."
Lou Rui was very satisfied with Guan Chong’s submission, he lightly released his grip, unaware that in that trembling voice, besides fear, was a thin thread of pathological excitement:
"But having helped you so many times, could you do me a favor this time instead?"
Lou Rui stood there dumbfounded, almost doubting his own ears.
He unconsciously raised his voice: "What did you say? I didn’t hear you, say it again!"
Guan Chong drew a deep breath, slowly raising his palm to push Lou Rui’s hand away from his neck.
As his hand grazed over, goosebumps visibly covered Guan Chong’s arm, causing his whole body to shiver.
Guan Chong could never forget the overwhelming pain the first time he pushed Lou Rui’s hand away, so intense he couldn’t even voice his pleas, his throat throttled silent.
Of course, back then shouting wouldn’t have helped, nobody would care for faint cries echoing from a corner, as they were part of this cold prison structure.
But today is different, today he is not alone, he has allies.
Most importantly, Feng Mu had told him it was now his reward time.
"In my reward time, even re-experiencing terror becomes immensely pleasurable."
Guan Chong’s thighs trembled, his glutes tensed, igniting a strange thrill, like suppressing a sour release.
He bit his lip tightly, until it bled, then gently licked the bloody taste, his face portrayed a hard-to-describe pathological eeriness.
"I said, we now have evidence suspecting your involvement in this morning’s Death Row riot, so we’d like to invite you over for a chat, and hope you’ll cooperate with our investigation."
Lou Rui’s eyes were wide open, not yet digesting the words’ implications, when the furious fire in his heart erupted like a volcano.
He lifted his foot and fiercely kicked Guan Chong’s abdomen.
The latter stood motionless, undeterred, taking the hit straight and falling to the ground.
Feeling the ache from his abdomen, the coldness of the ground, Guan Chong lay on his side, glancing at the timid guard pinned by the corpse.
And under his unbelievable gaze, Guan Chong’s mouth slowly stretched into a grin, widening till the muscles tore and blood seeped, he laughed wildly.
The laughter flowing freely, brimming with relief and irony, turning into a ghostly howl in the night wind, gripping Lou Rui’s heart tightly with inexplicable tension.
It’s as if a chill rose from his feet, swiftly traveling up his spine, making each hair stand erect.
Lou Rui’s violent actions instinctively froze, he looked down at Guan Chong lying on the ground, struggling to keep from twitching: "Are you...crazy?"
Seeing Lou Rui’s stunned expression, Guan Chong laughed even harder, his lips stained a vivid crimson, looking eerily bewitching.
