Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy-Chapter 2514: The Discordant Duality
Alex prepared Memory and heated it. Once the heat was correct as per the recipe, he placed the first ingredient into the cauldron.
Frostfire Sap.
The sap was refined in no time at all, releasing its dual fire and water energy inside the cauldron that stayed in a proper equilibrium. Now, he needed to keep the equilibrium as it was.
The cauldron heated to another temperature, and Alex pulled out the next two ingredients that were supposed to go in at the same time: Carnelian Assault Boar’s Tusk and the Eight Twilight Silk Seeds.
He placed both ingredients into the cauldron. As soon as they entered the cauldron, he split his attention between the two ingredients and began moving them at a speed and direction unique from each other.
The only commonality between the ingredients during this phase of the recipe was the temperature.
While the ingredients were refined individually, the energy they released interacted with the Frostfire Sap’s energy at the same time. The fire energy from the boar’s tusk went into the fire side of the equilibrium, and at the same rate, the water energy from the silk seeds went into the water side.
Alex felt the difficulty during this phase of the recipe. A single mistake, a single imbalance, and the entire energy would fall apart at once. He hadn’t had to focus on a single pill like this as much since perhaps he had only just started to make pills.
There were times when he had to use a lot of his spiritual energy, Qi, and intent, but never focus. This was the first time a pill recipe was asking him to pay attention to every bit of change within it, for a single mistake didn’t just mean a bad pill; it meant failure.
Alex very carefully managed to pull off the merging of fire and water energy without having them react to each other. Once he was done, he finally sighed in relief.
There were four more similar dual-ingredient refinements to go through just yet, but this was the most difficult one. He had given the main energy two arms to interact with the rest, so the chances of causing imbalance were much less now, so long as he was careful.
Still, it needed a decent amount of focus from Alex, so he did the best he could, as slow as he could afford to.

Memory seemed to understand the seriousness of the situation as well and helped Alex the best it could. There wasn’t much it could do as it was, but Alex could tell that it was trying to help him.
Alex wondered for a very short moment if this was going to be the trigger Memory needed and had begun getting happy. However, Memory showed no more improvement as the refinement went along, and Alex ended up being disappointed.
After what felt like forever, Alex finally mixed the energy of the last two ingredients, causing the energy to stabilize within the cauldron.
The final energy he had ended up making was a massive equilibrium between a large variety of energies, but mostly fire and water. The pill Alex had wanted to make had finally been made.
Alex poured the energy into the pill using his Vortex of Perfection pill-forming technique and watched until it had formed. As the energy was dragged into the pill with his vortex, he felt the sky rumble above him.
Alex sighed in relief. He hadn’t been sure if he had managed to do it or not, but seeing as the pill cloud had formed, he could be sure of it.
Four pill lightning came down from the heavens one after another, and Alex stopped each one with relative ease. Once the fourth lightning bolt was blocked, the pill clouds vanished, leaving the sky open once again.
Alex opened Memory and pulled out the pill.
What formed was a pill that was half red and half blue, with a sinuous line dividing the pill into two hemispheres. On the red side, two pill veins formed, entirely blue in color. On the blue side, another two pill veins formed that were red in color.
Alex was surprised, for he had never seen pill veins ever be in different colors at all. This was the first time he had seen such a thing. It was an interesting sight to see, but interesting or not, it was time to register the pill.
He called over the Divinity who stood outside and handed him the pill and recipe.

The man took the pill and was surprised by its colors too. He had clearly never seen such a pill either. He read the recipe for it to check it against their record and was surprised when he noticed that the recipe was so interesting.
He had never seen a recipe where a person was supposed to refine two ingredients at the same time. It was just not a thing.
He pulled out his medallion and checked it against the recipes he had in the list that was given to them.
Alex looked at the time while he waited. There was about a day remaining, so he could begin working on the next pill. He had an idea, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to make it.
The Divinity put the medallion down with a worried look. "Please wait a moment. We do not have this recipe in our records. I will have to ask the Alchemy God to verify it."
Alex was surprised. What was going on? How could the Alchemy God not have had this recipe in his list? He was supposed to have an endless list of recipes.
The Alchemy God himself arrived at the stage a moment later and walked into their small space.
"What technicality did he use this time?" the man asked in a cheerful voice as he walked up to the Divinity.
The Divinity quickly bowed and handed over the pill and recipe. "We do not have this in our list, but it appears to be a valid recipe."
The Alchemy God had a curious look as he took the recipe. Before he read the recipe, he looked at the pill itself and was surprised by it.
"You created a Discordant Duality Pill?" he blurted out in surprise.
Both Alex and the other Divinity were stunned by the Alchemy God’s lack of composure at the moment. Was it that surprising?
"Is that what that pill is called, Your Majesty? A Discordant Duality Pill?" he asked.
The Alchemy God looked at the pill and then at the recipe. He read through it and nodded along. "Yes, this is indeed a Discordant Duality Pill. How did you come up with it?" he asked.
"I just did," Alex said, not knowing what else he could say. "I was thinking about whether I could make a pill recipe where the major ingredients were in conflict instead of harmony, and as I thought in that vein, I came across that idea. And because I had the Frostfire Sap with me, it appeared possible."
"And it is," the Alchemy God said. "I just can’t believe that you made it. Unless there have been people who had made such pills and hid them from the world, you just might be the first one in many generations to have created another such pill."
