Chapter 89: Let the coin decide

Liam was someone who believed in unity and helping others. Although he hadn’t supported Kaiser when he was being accused, he hadn’t supported them either. He had even tried to caution Eric in the way he addressed Kaiser.

He was truly a good person.

Unfortunately, Kaiser cared less about him. The boy’s shout fell to deaf ears. Kaiser calmly transferred the first 50,000 points to Instructor Rina.

Ding!

Her cellphone chimed, signifying the transaction was successful. Right there on the projector, everyone saw Eric’s score in Combat Training reduce to 54 marks.

Instantly, the boy panicked. "Are you crazy?! What’re you doing? Stop it right now!"

He sprang up from his seat, pointing at Kaiser and shouting furiously. Inwardly though, he was scared. He could roughly estimate that Kaiser had enough credits to make him fail, so he was afraid.

However, he foolishly believed that he could use the class’s momentum to pressure Kaiser into stopping.

"Fool." Hazel murmured disappointedly.

Ding!

The score dropped by another mark, becoming 53 marks instantly. Panic appeared on Eric’s face, and he frantically looked around for support. They all avoided his gaze, except Logan who was still furious.

"Kaiser! Be a man and stop this bullshit right—"

Ding!

The sound echoed again, but this time, it was Logan’s score that dropped. His score in Mathematics became 52 marks.

Blood drained from his face instantly, and he was forced to fall silent. Fear quietly spread among the others, and no one supported Eric any longer. Even Ysabella had fallen silent, tears glistening in her eyes.

"Uh... Kaiser, you can’t really do this, right? W-we’re both c-classmates." Eric stuttered, his face pale and sweaty.

Kaiser ignored his words, operating his phone with a bored look.

Ding! Ding!

The scores dropped to 51 marks, making Eric terrified.

"Please, no!" He shrieked.

Abandoning shame, he ran towards Kaiser and began kowtowing before him.

"Please! I take everything back! I swear! I won’t touch you again, I won’t say a word, I’ll obediently listen to you!"

His voice trembled with desperation and terror, with a sense of hopelessness. Tears were already falling from his eyes, making him look very pitiful.

Some students who were unable to continue watching looked away, carrying pained expressions.

Kaiser didn’t even glance at the person at his feet. The notification chime sounded again, and the score finally turned to 50 marks.

Eric’s face was as white as paper, seeing his life crash before his eyes. His mouth opened and closed, unable to form coherent words.

Rina’s expression was grim as she watched the situation. She felt deeply shocked by Kaiser’s ruthlessness.

’Would he really expel Eric? If he does...’

Her eyes were fixated on him, carefully waiting for his next course of action.

If Eric disappeared today, no one in this class would ever look at Kaiser the same way again. However, if he forgave him, he’d risk appearing weak and indecisive.

Of course, he had also thought about this, and was finding it too insignificant to decide.

Kaiser closed his eyes, then sighed exaggeratedly. "This is really a hassle."

He dipped a hand into his pocket, then brought out a golden coin. He looked down at Eric, then said impatiently.

"Your fate will be decided by this coin. Heads, you stay, Tails, you’re out."

Eric looked up blankly, as the coin suddenly appeared more dazzling. At the sight of that familiar gold coin, Ysabella trembled faintly, though no one noticed.

Without missing a beat, Kaiser tossed the coin into the air.

It flipped several times in the air, then descended back to his palm. Kaiser stared at it for a second, then pocketed it. His lips curled in a blatant fake smile.

"Wow, you survived. Speak carefully, next time."

He then ignored Eric’s kneeling figure and resumed reading his book.

The class remained dead silent. Eric remained on his knees, looking like he had been traumatized.

Finally, Liam moved. He got up from his seat and approached Eric. Slowly patting him on the back, he helped the boy back to his seat. From there on, the class gradually recovered, though no one dared to even glance at Kaiser.

...

News spread fast, and within a few hours, the entire first-year body was aware of what happened in Class-E today. Some facts were exaggerated, saying Kaiser had stepped on Eric’s face with a haughty expression, while others claimed he had forced Eric to lick his shoes.

Alongside this, the information that the mysterious student Sherlock Holmes was actually Kaiser Solace from Class-E, had spread.

Today, after the rest of the classes, Kaiser made his way to the library as usual.

On the way, he received several covert looks from students who passed him by. Of course he ignored them all, but his ears caught their hushed whispers.

Some of their words and exaggerations amused him, while some simply bored him.

He entered the library, greeted the librarian and headed to the secluded spot usually used by himself and Maya. The library was quite empty, as midterm exams had just finished. Seeing that she wasn’t around yet, he brought out a novel and began reading while waiting.

Ten minutes passed, and yet she still hadn’t come. Kaiser noted this and continued reading. He wasn’t the type to get irritated by mere lateness.

Ten more minutes passed before Maya finally arrived. From her hurried breathing and heaving chest, he could tell that she ran all the way here.

"You came." He said, temporarily closing the book he was reading.

Maya offered him an apologetic smile. "I didn’t mean to be late at all. We simply had a class meeting about something very important."

Kaiser cocked his head, "Very important? Could that be perhaps me?"

"Uh..." Maya hesitated, then sighed. "Yeah, it is about you. You never ceased to amaze me, Kaiser. You’re really impressive."

"Impressive?" Kaiser asked with a hollow laugh. "It’s not impressive. It is just the normal."

Maya stared at him, noting the change in his expression. Perhaps she had touched a sensitive topic, she didn’t know and she didn’t want to ask about it.

Kaiser immediately reverted to his normal mood, "Well, it isn’t a surprise that I am currently the hottest piece of news on campus at the moment."

He didn’t look bothered at all, casually offering her a book.

Maya laughed softly. "Hottest piece of... pfft."

She covered her mouth, giggling. After a few seconds, she smiled and shook her head.

"Um... thanks for the help in the mathematics questions the other day. I had a sore of 78 in that subject."

Kaiser nodded like it was expected, after all he had personally taught her. Once again, she was impressed by him and gave a quiet ’So cool’ to him in her heart.

She checked the book Kaiser had given her, only for her eyes to widen.

’This...?!’
