Eternal Life by Dual Cultivation-Chapter 115 - 104: Demise of the Mu Family, Birth of the New Continent
"That’s not a problem. We can hoard them and not sell them for now. We can always bring them out in a few decades."
Ling Qiyue smiled. The Ling Family wasn’t short on Spirit Stones anyway, so there was no need to sell these resources.
Ling Changqing thought so too. It was better to keep high-quality resources for themselves. It was easy to sell things, but buying them back would be another matter entirely.
The major powers at the Nascent Soul and Divinity Transformation levels had always been fond of monopolizing resources and markets. They would rather let good things rot in their hands than sell them to the low and mid-level Cultivators who were in desperate need.
"Martial Sister, should we go searching underwater? There might be more valuable things in the Deep Sea."
Ling Changqing suggested. Many of the corpses of the dead Third Grade beasts hadn’t floated to the surface, but had instead settled on the seabed.
Besides, high-temperature magma was constantly pouring down on the surface, and violent explosions were going off one after another. It was clearly far more dangerous up here.
Ling Qiyue hesitated for a moment before agreeing. "Alright, let’s go down and take a look!"
’With the Fenghuo Panyun Bell protecting us, there shouldn’t be any problems. Even if we run into something unexpected, we’ll have a chance to escape.’
Tang Qiu Yao raised her hand and gestured. The seawater, boiling like a cauldron, suddenly parted, revealing a temporary cavern a dozen feet wide and over a hundred feet deep.
The three of them descended into the opening, and the sea immediately closed above them.
Although the deep water was also unbearably hot, it was at least much calmer than the surface. There were no raging cyclones or rains of molten fire.
As they descended, the thick curtain of light emanating from the Fenghuo Panyun Bell pushed aside the scorching seawater and the numerous beast corpses. They dove thousands of feet deeper into the sea.
"We won’t run into any old monsters above Rank Four down here, will we?"
Tang Qiu Yao was a little worried. The terrifying Great Demons lurking thousands, or even tens of thousands, of feet in the depths were all Demon Kings with power equivalent to the Nascent Soul or even Divinity Transformation realms.
If an ordinary Cultivator were to accidentally encounter one in the sea, they would find even death to be a luxury.
"Don’t worry," Ling Qiyue said dismissively. "A Great Demon like that would have sensed something was wrong months ago and fled. There’s no way they’d still be here."
And so, the trio remained on the seabed for over ten days. Only when every single one of their Storage Pouches was stuffed to the brim did they return, thoroughly satisfied.
Upon returning to Longhuan Island, the first major piece of news Ling Qiyue received was the annihilation of the Mu Family.
"...Including Patriarch Mu Yesheng, all the senior members of the Mu Family have been taken away by special envoys from the Feng Family!" reported Elder Tianhe, who was in charge of intelligence.
"As for the Mu Family disciples in the Qi Cultivation Stage, all who could be found have been killed. Not a single one was left alive!"
"So, the Wilderness Islands are now unclaimed territory, is that correct?"
Tang Qiu Yao asked in a low voice.
Elder Tianhe nodded. "That’s right. But it’s useless now!"
The eruption of the underwater super-volcano chain was still ongoing. Nearly half of the Mu Family’s territory had already been submerged by lava, and the rest would be swallowed up sooner or later.
Ling Qiyue said, "This is still good news for us, isn’t it? With one less competitor, the Ling Family will have the home-field advantage when it comes to this new landmass!"
The territories of the Bai Family, the Yuan Family, and Yu Long Island were all relatively far away. When the time came, the Ling Family could make the first move to occupy the newly formed land.
Unclaimed land belonged to whoever got there first. This was an immutable law of the Cultivation Realm.
「A few days later.」
A corner of the new landmass finally breached the ocean’s surface, and it was still growing.
Over the next six months, the underwater volcanic chain continued to erupt, though it showed signs of weakening.
Ling Qiyue used the pretext of surveying the new landmass to take Ling Changqing out to sea multiple times. They scavenged for resources and dove into the Deep Sea to investigate.
As the new landmass slowly rose, getting ever closer to sea level, the frequency of underwater earthquakes also increased significantly.
「Another three months passed.」
Most of the volcanic eruptions had ceased, and the new landmass had begun to take its initial form.
It was a landmass spanning tens of thousands of miles, its total size slightly smaller than the Hanyue Continent.
