Eternal Life: I Rely on Fortune Points for Improvement-Chapter 269 - 169: Cursed Land (Part 3)
"Hand over the Spiritual Liquid, or all of you will die!"
Liu Jinhu charged forward, unleashing a massacre.
At his age and temperament, it was impossible for him to be used by others so easily, but the matter of the Spiritual Liquid was urgent. Killing a bunch of people meant little guilt to him; if he could retrieve the Spiritual Liquid, he wouldn’t hesitate to slaughter every last soul in the cursed town.
Besides, even if Jiang Feng had nothing to do with the town’s people, Liu Jinhu believed such bloody slaughter would evoke Jiang Feng’s sympathy. Even if Jiang Feng didn’t hand over the Spiritual Liquid, he’d at least reveal himself for a proper fight.
"Serves them right, kill them all!"
Jiang Feng cursed under his breath inside one of the houses.
The residents of the town weren’t good people at all. This was clearly a place of curses, yet they devised ways to lure people in, then usher them out, watching indifferently as others died from blood loss.
Such twisted and venomous hearts made Jiang Feng want to eliminate them for the good of the people.
They caused Old Huang’s death, left Huang Li an orphan, and in the end, indirectly died at Huang Li’s hands—it was retribution fitting their crime.
At least, right now, Jiang Feng felt no guilt in his heart.
"Mom, I’m scared, wake up!"
"Dad, don’t leave me!"
However, that state of mind didn’t last long—Jiang Feng soon heard children crying.
The town was a prison—you could enter but never leave.
But food seemed self-sufficient here; over the past ten years, some died, some were born. Jiang Feng recalled there were indeed children in the town—their wails tugged at his heart.
"They don’t shed tears until they see the coffin. If you kill a few more, they’ll give up the person you’re after and hand over the Spiritual Liquid."
Blood mist streaked across Huang Li’s face.
Looking at the mutilated corpse on the ground, she felt fear, but more than that, thinking of Old Huang’s death made her feel a rush of satisfaction and excitement.
"Little brat, you think I can’t tell what you’re scheming? Speak, where is he hiding?"
Liu Jinhu suddenly grabbed Huang Li by the throat, lifting her from the ground.
As the Celestial Profound Fourth, he could see right through Huang Li. If only killing would flush out Jiang Feng, then Huang Li would die too.
"Whoosh!"
But just then—
Far away, a figure shot skyward.
Feet flashing with Golden Light, he blasted toward the south gate of the town.
His speed outclassed all others of his realm.
That person was none other than Jiang Feng.
Even after breaking through to the Celestial Profound Realm, Jiang Feng didn’t want a head-on clash with Liu Jinhu. His sudden appearance wasn’t to save Huang Li or to shield others from collateral damage.
Rather, he’d realized hiding forever wasn’t a solution.
Plus, he recalled that even with just Primordial Realm cultivation, he’d used the Three-legged Body Technique to shake off Xiao Zhan.
Back then, the Golden Road phenomenon aided him.
Now, he’d become a Celestial Profound Realm cultivator, matching Liu Jinhu’s Realm—and his Three-legged Body Technique had advanced from Mastery to Minor Success Level.
In short—escape sooner or later, what’s the difference?
Why not just run now?
"Stop!"
Liu Jinhu immediately spotted Jiang Feng’s silhouette.
He flung Huang Li to the ground.
Shooting upward like a rocket, he chased after Jiang Feng.
"Whoosh!"
Unleashing the Three-legged Body Technique at Minor Success Level, Jiang Feng didn’t see the Golden Road phenomenon, but his speed was as quick as when he’d shaken off Xiao Zhan.
In the blink of an eye, he’d burst out of Sunset Town, through the south gate.
Remembering his last escape,
This time, Jiang Feng made sure to fill his canteen before leaving.
Just as he dashed out, he poured the water down his throat.
A whole bottle emptied into his stomach.
Jiang Feng still felt parched—his throat was dry and hoarse—but at least he could bear it for now. Not wanting a bloody brawl with Liu Jinhu, he sped along, choosing not to run toward the Divine Sect but gradually veered toward Chishui County.
"Leave the Spiritual Liquid behind!"
Liu Jinhu lunged out from the south gate after him.
He unleashed a shroud of black mist, soaring forward as if riding a black cloud, charging at Jiang Feng.
"Spiritual Liquid—thanks for reminding me."
Hearing Liu Jinhu, Jiang Feng quickly pulled out the Jade Bottle and licked a drop of Spiritual Liquid.
In an instant, the burning thirst vanished without a trace.
And his speed shot up.
He streaked forward like a gleaming golden phosphor, heading for the horizon.
"Huh?"
"So thirsty!"
"What’s happening?"
Liu Jinhu’s perspective—
He felt what Jiang Feng did.
Just stepping out of Sunset Town, his mouth was bone dry, eyes blurred, lips cracked—his mind obsessed with one thought: water. Lots of water. More, more water.
But he had no canteen.
And Jiang Feng was already far ahead.
So he endured, agonizingly chasing after him.
"Can’t take it."
But less than a quarter of an hour later—
Liu Jinhu couldn’t hold on.
He raced to a river, dove in headfirst, desperate to suck up the entire river.
Once his belly was bloated with water, the raging thirst finally eased.
Then he looked up and saw Jiang Feng—just a golden streak—slipping into the forest and vanishing from sight.
"Damn it!"
Liu Jinhu gnashed his teeth and resumed the chase.
But by the time he plunged into the forest ahead, Jiang Feng was nowhere to be seen.
"Nanfu City has fallen, Old Demon Child must still be there. If I head into Chishui County, will I avoid running into him?"
Jiang Feng pondered as he ran.
He wasn’t confident against Liu Jinhu; he feared Old Demon Child even more.
The Divine Sect was no more.
He was lost as to where to head.
"With my current speed, Old Demon Child shouldn’t be able to catch me. But Chishui County is his territory—if he spots me, escaping won’t be easy. Should I just skirt around it?"
Jiang Feng checked the map; Chishui County was massive. Even circling around to its southern edge by his current pace would take days.
"Run that way first—let’s see if the Fortune Point changes."
Jiang Feng mulled things over and decided to let his Fortune Point guide the way.
Fortune: 34998
After ditching Liu Jinhu, his Fortune Point had jumped up thirty-three thousand or so. Jiang Feng memorized the number, then raced in the direction of Chishui County.
A quarter-hour later, he checked his Fortune Point.
Fortune: 34998
No change.
"Screech!"
Jiang Feng slammed on the brakes.
Heading south into Chishui County—was there danger ahead?
"Change direction."
Having learned his lesson last time, Jiang Feng quickly turned east, planning to skirt around Chishui County.
A quarter-hour later—
Fortune: 34998
"Screech!"
Jiang Feng braked again.
"East is no good, I’ll try west."
Jiang Feng scoffed.
He turned to circle Chishui County from the other side.
A quarter-hour later—
Fortune: 34998
"Screech!"
"What the hell?"
"East, west, south—none work. Are you telling me to head north?"
"That’s just putting me back in Liu Jinhu’s path!"
Jiang Feng exclaimed.
He’d run south toward Chishui County just to shake off Liu Jinhu.
Now, moving straight south through Chishui County didn’t work. Circling east or west didn’t work either.
Was he really supposed to go north?
That was the way back to Dragon Capital!
"What’s hiding in east, west, south? Why can’t I go that way?"
Jiang Feng racked his brain and couldn’t help but glance toward the three directions.
And then—
Jiang Feng suddenly saw three blood-red spheres looming over each direction—east, west, south—like three suns rising in the sky.
Liu Jinhu, hot on Jiang Feng’s heels toward the Chishui Domain, noticed the three suns as well. He stopped dead, then hurriedly turned back, as if something terrifying was about to happen.
Cursing, he shouted, "Old Demon Child, so this was your real aim in attacking Nanfu City!"
