Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 60: From Fowling Piece to Cannon
The Artifact Refining Hall in Qinghan Mansion housed all sorts of weapons, arranged in an orderly fashion. Some were damaged, but these weren’t simply discarded. Instead, they would be brought back to the Cyan Yuan Sect, melted down, and reforged into new weapons.
Repairable weapons were also tempered with the Cyan Yuan Sect’s special Artifact Refining Method and reused.
Weapons in good condition were put on display in the Artifact Refining Hall for sale. Items like sabers and swords were considered consumables. Even Divine Weapons could be damaged, to say nothing of ordinary weapons.
Although the Cyan Yuan Sect provided weapons to its Official Disciples, they were responsible for replacing them if they broke. Furthermore, their only option for obtaining a better weapon was to purchase one.
For Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples, buying from the Artifact Refining Hall was an excellent choice, as the prices were relatively affordable.
After learning of Yang Chan’s needs, Steward Zhang led him into the Hidden Weapon Refining Room, where various styles of Hidden Weapons were displayed.
Shi Gaoshun’s little stall paled in comparison.
"Pharmacist Yang, we have any Hidden Weapon you could want right here. This is a single-shot Sleeve Arrow. It’s quite powerful, a Hundred Refinements-level item. It can even injure an expert at the External Refining Steel stage, and it’s also the easiest to conceal."
"And here is the Double-Barrel Sleeve Arrow, its effect is... the Three Talents Sleeve Arrow, its effect is... the Four Symbols Sleeve Arrow, its effect is... the Plum Blossom Sleeve Arrow, its effect is... the Seven Fiends Sleeve Arrow, its effect is..."
Steward Zhang pointed at a row of Sleeve Arrows of all different styles. The best was even a Thousand Refinements-level item, said to be able to injure even an External Refining Iron Bone Expert, but the price was also very steep: five thousand taels of silver.
After hearing the price, Yang Chan could only resign himself to the fact that unless another seven or eight enemies with pockets as deep as Zhao Qiyang’s came along, all he could do was window-shop.
Thousand Refinements-level weapons were ridiculously expensive, starting at ten thousand taels of silver. This completely extinguished any thought Yang Chan had of replacing his Ten Refinements Long Sword. The sword was still usable, and for now, that was good enough.
A Hundred-Refined Long Sword also cost several hundred taels of silver. He decided to wait until he returned to the Cyan Yuan Sect and became an Elite Disciple to claim one then.
Several hundred taels of silver could buy him so many medicinal ingredients. He’d rather spend the money on Hidden Weapons that could be used in a pinch. Besides, he didn’t plan on leaving Qinghan Mansion in Taiyu City, so he wouldn’t have to engage in frontal combat.
Yang Chan looked through the Sleeve Arrows and ultimately chose the Hundred Refinements-level Three Talents Sleeve Arrow. It wasn’t cheap, costing one hundred taels of silver, but that was still within his budget.
He didn’t choose the Plum Blossom Sleeve Arrow because he felt that more arrows weren’t necessarily better. Firing three at once was more than enough.
The Three Talents Technique was enough to make it difficult for anyone to escape.
He also selected a Hundred-Refined Flying Claw. The attached rope, made of a special material, could bear a heavy load. Even an External Refining Steel practitioner would struggle to break free quickly, and it could even hold an External Iron Bone expert for a short time. It was a perfect fit for Yang Chan’s needs.
The Hundred-Refined Flying Claw was slightly more expensive than the Three Talents Sleeve Arrow, costing one hundred fifty taels of silver.
Yang Chan also looked at other Hidden Weapons, such as the Finger Sword, Plum Blossom Needle, Ruyi Bead, Coin Darts, and Flying Knives. There was a huge variety, but since they took a long time to master, he decided against them for now.
’Right now, I need to spend most of my time increasing my strength and lifespan. I can add other skills later. There’s no rush.’
Before leaving, Yang Chan spent another five taels of silver on replacement Hundred Tempered Short Arrows for his Three Talents Sleeve Arrow, simply because he disliked the way the original total added up.
Steward Zhang saw Yang Chan out of the Artifact Refining Room with a smile, telling him to come again and promising an even better discount next time.
Yang Chan’s mouth twitched. ’Is he cursing me to run into danger again?’
In response, Yang Chan could only force a smile and invite the steward to visit his T-shaped Room. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
He didn’t mean anything malicious by it—just a friendly suggestion for the steward to buy some more medicine packets. Nothing more.
This major upgrade hadn’t been cheap, but one couldn’t skimp on a trump card. Besides, he wouldn’t have been able to get these items for free, even as an Elite Disciple.
When Yang Chan returned to his T-shaped Room with the Hidden Weapons, the basket of herbs had already arrived. Sun Qi Wu had delivered it right to his room.
He prepared a Medicated Ointment for a disciple whose wound had reopened, then returned to his room.
’The ingredients for the Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge and the Dust-Cleansing Tri-Element Soup are all here. I can go ahead and prepare the packets and start taking them.’
After checking the herbs in the basket and confirming everything was in order, Yang Chan took out a clay pot.
He hadn’t chosen these two remedies before because, to some extent, the Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge had effects that overlapped with the Strengthening and Nourishing Porridge. While there were differences in their medicinal properties, it hadn’t been an optimal choice.
Similarly, the Dust-Cleansing Tri-Element Soup overlapped with the Qi Nourishing Soup. Since he could already drink extra portions of the Qi Nourishing Soup each day, the Dust-Cleansing Tri-Element Soup hadn’t been a priority.
’But now that I have money, of course I should spend it on increasing my strength.’
’The brewing methods for the Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge and the Dust-Cleansing Tri-Element Soup are both fairly simple. Once the herb packets are prepared, I just need to control the heat. The Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge is best brewed with millet, though.’
With this in mind, Yang Chan retrieved a bag of millet from his room. It was meant for supplementing his meals, something he, as a Pharmacist, could receive for free.
’The herbs I just bought should be enough for half a month once I prepare the packets. I’ll test the effects first before deciding whether to continue using them.’
These remedies would also aid his External Refining Copper Skin cultivation, but he was more interested in the Potential Points he would gain.
If the returns weren’t satisfactory, he would just try a new concoction.
Others might worry about the trace toxins inherent in these remedies, but he wasn’t concerned. During his daily reset at dawn, any trace toxins from the medicines he consumed would be purged from his body. This was the main reason Yang Chan had been consuming an ever-increasing amount of them without pause.
In truth, most people wouldn’t stop taking these remedies even if they knew about the trace toxins. Without them, their Martial Arts Cultivation would slow to a crawl.
Furthermore, if too many medicinal toxins accumulated in the later stages of cultivation, one could perform the Inner Refining of the Lungs and Spleens or consume a Purification of Body and Mind Elixir to cleanse their system. However, that was a concern for those who had already reached the Inner Master realm.
Anyone who could cultivate to the Inner Refining Grandmaster Realm would naturally have a way to resolve the issue of medicinal toxins in their body.
Yang Chan, however, was spared this effort, which was excellent news for him.
He began to brew the ingredients for the Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge. After straining out the dregs, he added the millet and let it continue to cook, carefully controlling the heat. While it simmered, he began to practice in his room, moving through the special footwork of the Wind-Stepping Technique. Yesterday, his accumulated Potential Points had reached 2.1. He had already spent them, but he still hadn’t broken through to Tier One. He figured that after cultivating for a while longer today and using the rest of his Potential Points, it should be enough to reach Tier One.
His daytime cultivation should have taken him past the threshold for Tier One. Normally, it only took three Potential Points to reach Tier One. This meant that after the new day dawned, Yang Chan could return to focusing on his main practice: the Ox Demon’s Mighty Fist.
