Book 6: Chapter 54: Supreme

“Thoughtless Heaven? Three Thousand Great World…? Outsider?”

The moment Lilith grasped the chilling meaning behind the words of the disheveled man named Li Desheng, a cold killing intent radiated from her petite frame, like an ice flower blooming beneath a frozen sky.

Her black flame split apart to form a massive cage around Li Desheng, sealing him inside.

“Very well. You’re allowed to speak three more sentences. Make them your last.” Lilith said, her voice ice-cold.

Even if his tone wasn’t hostile, Lilith hadn’t forgotten the pain that Three had brought her not long ago. And now this man was claiming they wanted to talk peacefully?

He’d have to be brain-dead to think she’d believe such nonsense. This had conspiracy written all over it.

Li Desheng waved his hands in a panic. “H-hey now, what’s with the violence? I really did come in peace! I just do clerical work—clerical, you know? Paperwork! Filing! I don’t even have the strength to hold a kitchen knife, let alone fight!”

As the black flame cage slowly shrank, color drained from his face.

“That’s the first sentence,” Lilith said coldly.

“Wait, wait! Hold on, hold on! Listen, can’t we talk this out? Communication is the key to understanding each other! If you stay this unreasonable, you’ll only start another conflict, and then…”

“A question mark. That’s the second sentence.”

“Aaaah! Please, just wait! Give me a second!”

“An exclamation mark counts as a sentence. Goodbye, Outsider.”

Lilith’s outstretched hand slowly began to close into a fist.

Under Li Desheng’s terrified gaze, the cage of black flames tightened, inch by inch, ready to crush everything inside. It seemed like this was the end.

In the chaos, Li Desheng’s expression twisted in raw panic. He shouted desperately, “Don’t you want to know the truth about the dragons’ disappearance?!”

“No. Goodbye.”

“Are you sure? If I don’t tell you… you might stay in the dark forever, like a fool.”

Lilith raised an eyebrow. “Are you… threatening me?”

“No, no! Not at all! I’m only asking you to reconsider! The choice is yours! Besides, a powerful person like you clearly has the upper hand. I’m in no position to do anything to you!”

By now, he had already dropped to his knees, voice low and pleading. Clasping his hands together, he wore a pitiful, ingratiating smile.

“I mean, the strong always get the luxury of choice. With that kind of terrifying power at your fingertips, you could kill me anytime you want. So why rush it? If you still think I’m lying after hearing me out… it won’t be too late to kill me then.”

Lilith said nothing. She just stared into Li Desheng’s eyes, as if trying to extract the truth directly from them.

Li Desheng didn’t flinch under her probing gaze. He held her gaze confidently, but that didn’t stop him from throwing her the occasional wink.

The veins on the back of Lilith’s hand bulged and throbbed.

“If I puke, you’ll be buried alongside my dinner last night,” she warned.

“N-No! Please, don’t! I was just fooling around…!” Li Desheng waved his hands awkwardly. “I only meant to lighten the mood. Emotions have a huge effect on subjective thinking, you know?”

Lilith exhaled slowly and shut her eyes, clearly weighing her options.

Li Desheng didn’t interrupt. He knew his pitiful little life had been spared—for now. In his relief, he flopped onto the ground and lit another cigarette.

“Put that out. I hate the smell.”

“Of course, of course.”

He immediately snuffed it out with a forced smile, terrified that upsetting this lady would get him killed on the spot.

Finally, Lilith opened her eyes.

“Alright. I’ll listen to what you have to say.”

“Great!” Li Desheng clapped his thighs in excitement. “I knew you’d be moved by my sincerity.”

“But—” Lilith’s tone shifted coldly. “You’ll answer only what I ask. You don’t get to bring up anything I haven’t asked about. If you do… you die.”

The black flames of the cage flared, as if emphasizing her words with a show of power.

“Erm…” Li Desheng hesitated. “Isn’t that a little harsh? Shouldn’t an exchange go both ways?”

“Who told you this was an exchange?” Lilith gave him a strange look. “Why would I need to communicate with a bug I could crush at any time?”

Li Desheng rubbed his nose awkwardly, then sighed. “Alright, alright. You’re the boss. Ask away.”

“First question. What is this Thoughtless Heaven?” Lilith met his gaze again.

“That’s your first question?” Li Desheng blinked in surprise.

“Just answer the question.”

“Ahem.” Li Desheng cleared his throat, suddenly putting on a serious face. “The so-called Thoughtless Heaven is one of the six supreme factions of the Three Thousand Great Worlds. It’s overseen by our Thoughtless Deity King, who has five deity lords under her. She commands countless vassal worlds and represents one of the strongest combat forces in existence!”

“The six supreme factions… the five deity lords… strongest force…” Lilith repeated his words softly, digesting them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Then she tilted her head, examining him with a mixture of doubt and amusement before saying, “And this supposedly mighty existence sent… someone as embarrassing as you?”

Li Desheng felt personally attacked.

“Ahem. Well, technically, I was chosen because I’m the most suitable person for this task. After all, with the Queen of Dragons sitting there, the big shots didn’t dare sneak in themselves, so they sent… well, me.”

“Wait—did you just say my mom? Where’s the Dragon Queen?” Lilith asked anxiously.

“Right there.”

Li Desheng pointed to the sky. “Outside this world, just beyond the Starry Deadlands that surround the entire ancestral land of the dragons. She’s probably having a nice little chat with our Deity Lord as we speak.”

“Mom… she’s really that far away?” Lilith looked up at the unreal sky above.

She wanted to go to her immediately and demand answers. But… She was beyond the world and so far away. Even if she reached her, what would she ask?

The truth? What if the truth was far more brutal than she was ready for?

According to Li Desheng, her mother was currently facing off against a deity lord named “Thoughtless”. What if, by getting involved, she only made things harder for her?

Lilith had been searching for her mother. But now that she’d finally found her, she still found herself at a loss.

“Wait a second. From what you just told me, this Thoughtless Heaven is pretty powerful, right?” Lilith asked.

“Of course! Across the boundless Great World, there are only five other factions on the same level as us. Thoughtless Heaven is one of the six supreme forces. It’s no exaggeration to say we represent one-sixth of the Great World’s power.” Li Desheng puffed up proudly, hands on his hips.

“But…” Lilith’s voice lowered slightly, unease creeping in. “A force that powerful won’t act boldly just because the Dragon Queen is present… so they only sent a small fry like you?”

Li Desheng froze, staring at her like she’d just grown two heads. “You… seriously don’t know how powerful the Queen of Dragons is?”

“Well…”

Lilith looked away, slightly embarrassed. “I mean… I know she’s strong. But how strong, exactly…”

“Unbelievable.” Li Desheng slapped a hand over his face. “You talk like that and still call yourself her daughter?”

“Shut up and explain already!” Lilith snapped, cheeks flushing with frustration.

“Alright, alright. To be honest, I don’t even know the full extent of her strength. I wasn’t even born when she was at her prime. But based on the records I’ve had access to…”

He paused, then began solemnly, “Nine million years ago, Queen Regalis, the Blazing Dragon, was known as the strongest being in the Great World. She swept across the realms, undefeated, unmatched. And even before that—around ten and a half million years ago—she became the Queen of Dragons.

“Back then, the dragon race was small and weak. But by her power alone, she raised them into one of the Great World’s top ten races. She’s truly the supreme queen.”
