Book 6: Chapter 64: Monster

*[ Kill them all, Lilith. ]*

It was the Dragon Eater’s voice that reached Lilith’s ears. The long-silent entity had spoken without being prompted.

*[ If you let them escape, you’ll be in big trouble. ]*

“Kill them all? Big trouble? But… there are so many of them…” Lilith murmured in panic. Everything was happening too quickly, leaving her completely at a loss.

Her mind was a storm of chaos, giving her no space to think, let alone act.

*[ Don’t worry. You can do it. ]*

The Dragon Eater’s calm voice slithered into her ears, like a serpent tempting her to eat the forbidden fruit.

*[ Stop overthinking. Clear your mind and follow your instincts. They’re already ingrained into your bones. You don’t need to force it. Just focus on one thing—killing them all.]*

“Kill… them all? Kill… them all!”

Whether it was the serpent’s temptation or the chaos in her mind, something snapped. Lilith’s hesitant voice transformed into a cold, unwavering declaration.

Sensing that something was amiss, Ciel stepped forward quickly. Her voice was tinged with concern as she called out to the girl beside her.

“Lilith?”

But the moment her hand landed on Lilith’s shoulder, she recoiled as if she had been electrocuted.

“Cold…!”

The chill was enough to unnerve even a demigod like Ciel—it was like touching an ice block that had never melted for millions of years, straight from the Land of Eternal Frost.

And at the center of it, a black flame burned, flickering hungrily, devouring the warmth around it.

“Step back, Ciel” Lilith seemed to have cooled down as the temperature around her dropped. There was no panic in her voice, only a chilling calm. She turned her head, looking at her friend. “I don’t wish to harm you.”

“Lilith… you…” Ciel couldn’t move, because she was afraid… Terrified, even. She hadn’t felt fear like this, not even when surrounded by thousands of demigods. It was the kind that unravelled thought itself.

For the first time, Ciel felt like running away from the girl who had always stirred a certain burning emotion in her heart.

*Run! Run now! If you don’t… you’ll die!*

That was all she could think of, but fear had rooted her in place. Her legs trembled violently, refusing to respond.

Something was rising… something dark.

Lilith’s eyes had turned so pitch black that they reflected nothing at all. The darkness had seeped into her once-radiant blonde hair, dyeing it black. It rose like a tidal wave, rolling and roaring within her body. It was eager to tear apart its sweet facade known as “girl” and reveal the creature beneath…

A monster named “destruction”. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Her skin cracked like a broken porcelain doll. But instead of falling away, the fragments were somehow held in place by some kind of paste, leaving dark jagged lines across the surface.

Slick with malice, thick black flames burned on the seeping dark ooze that bled from the cracks.

It slid down her face, coating her skin, her arms, even her faint smile… and then it began to spread outward, crawling toward everything around her.

“Oh, don’t devour those.”

Beneath her feet lay her family—forever at rest. And so, the monster slowly rose.

Her limbs no longer trembled. Her muscles no longer spasmed. No blood rose in her throat. This form seemed to be more stable. When she stood, it was as if all of hell obeyed her will, rising from the ground and surging toward the pure sky she had once longed for.

*Seal everything.*

“What’s wrong with you?”

The monster tilted her head at Ciel, who was trembling. But before an answer could come, she lost interest.

“Never mind. Just wait here. I’ll be back soon,” she said. “But before that…”

She snapped her fingers. Darkness surged outward. Several figures, who hadn’t fled but had instead hidden themselves in shadow, crawled out while screaming.

They looked just as terrified as Ciel. Despite being demigods, they shook like leaves. Upon being exposed, not one of them dared to fight. They only thought of escape. It was understandable though. After all, even a deity trembled before such a monster.

“How boring.” With a lazy wave of her hand, the monster released a wave of black flame. It surged forth, consuming everything in its path.

Screams. Cries. Pleas. All of it was slowly swallowed up.

“Alright, next…” She dusted her hands as if she had just killed a few cockroaches in her bedroom. But with cockroaches, it was never enough to clean just one room. The whole house had to be cleaned.

The monster lifted her gaze at the projection of the darkest hell covering the sky.

She grinned and said, “I’m coming for you, little cockroaches…”

How long would it take a demigod to escape a planet? The answer was five breaths. Yes, in just five breaths, a demigod moving at full speed could break through the atmosphere and soar into the boundless expanse of space.

But in doing so, they also entered the Thoughtless Deity Lord’s field of vision.

Using spatial teleportation or advanced teleportation magic could, in theory, be even faster. But such methods were dangerous without pre-established spatial coordinates.

But considering they had already resolved to risk their lives to sneak across in the first place, who would have had the luxury to leave coordinate markers along the way?

Which was why, the instant he chose to flee, Li Desheng barked, “Everyone! Split into three groups! First group, bring up the rear! Second group, teleport! Third group, scatter and fly away!”

Those who had already cast aside thoughts of life and death didn’t hesitate. They split into three groups according to their abilities and carried out their roles.

As for Li Desheng himself, he flew off in a separate direction, shrouded in the concealing aura of a Heavenly Order Scroll.

It didn’t matter how many perished—so long as one survived. If even one of them could deliver the truth of what happened here to the Thoughtless Deity Lord, every sacrifice would be worth it!

“One…” Li Desheng silently counted in his head while remaining alert and wary of his surroundings.

Nothing happened.

“Two…” Still nothing, but the edge of the world was now visible.

“Three…” His eyes brightened with hope. Beyond the thin veil of pale blue, he could already glimpse the star-filled void. Once he passed that barrier, the Deity Lord’s will would be…

“Oh? Are you trying to escape?”

The scenery in front of him abruptly changed.

Endless darkness spilled from cracks in space, like the river water of the underworld, blocking the escape of Cockroach #1 just before he could succeed in his prison break.

So close… yet so far!

The viscous black liquid and darkness churned before him until a monstrous girl took form, wearing a twisted smile on her face.

“What a pity… You’ve FAILED!”
