Chapter 82: The Ice Princess Returns

Back at the Luo clan estate, the main hall was packed. Elders and important figures crowded around Wu Han’s severed head and withered corpse. They’d brought in their best healer to examine the body. The verdict came back quick: killed by a weapon.

"Can you tell us more about what happened?" Luo Phen pressed Hong Qing for details.

"It was his blood feud with Wu Meiyi. I’m sorry. I was too weak." Hong Qing’s voice cracked. "He fought against Han Suwen, and died."

Everyone turned to Luo Lan.

"She speaks truth."

The story was true. She looked hollow.

No one questioned the truth seeker eyes of Luo Lan. Even Wu Han himself couldn’t hide before her.

The confirmation made the others waver.

Luo Phen had spent so much on that blackmail, pushed so hard to get Wu Han into the top ten spots.

Now the boy was dead. All those spirit stones, wasted.

"How could this be?" Luo Chen’s pupils dilated.

Rage burst from his chest. He wanted to wipe out the Han clan right now

Only one thing held him back: his friendship with Han Rui. Otherwise, they’d be dead.

"Calm down, Father..."

Luo Lan tried to steady him, but her own heartstrings were pulled tight.

Seeing that larger-than-life person lying quiet on the ground broke something in her.

She didn’t understand it.

He’d been about to kill everyone. Why did she feel sad now that he was gone?

What is this, what am I feeling? why? why? why? why?

Luo Lan conflicted, she now free from the supposed monster, but now does it meant she still going to die, does this meant the life with freedom he promise is no longer out of reach, then how she supposed to do so now, what going to happen.

I dont’ want to die!

Even tho she the one told her father to stay calm, she is not calm at all.

"Where is that man, I’m going to kill him!!"

Luo Lan heart, for the first time she get to felt, rage.

A burning sensation that came from within and not outside like normal flame, as the ice around her heart finally melt in form of tear rolling down her eyes.

Just like a blind man who finally see color and return to darkness, she wanted to felt the warm once more.

"I don’t know." Hong Qing couldn’t answer that. It was true, since he hadn’t told her anything.

"Is he still even alive?" Luo Phen questioned. They’d all seen how powerful Wu Han was when he fought against Hong Qing. Surely he could have killed them if he went all out. Unless Han Suwen had a sudden breakthrough.

"Yes...?" Hong Qing hesitated. Not only did she have to tell the truth, she didn’t even know what was going on. Or what counted as Han Suwen being alive anymore.

That hesitation reflected onto Luo Lan. Her glance sharpened. Hong Qing didn’t know the answer. Or she was hiding part of it underneath her words.

"We should pay a visit to Doctor Zhong and see if he has any reaction to this." Luo Chen concluded the situation. "It’s too risky to act. I’ll bring this matter up to Han Rui and we’ll see what comes next."

After the meeting adjourned, Hong Qing had nowhere else to go. She decided to occupy his room in the cultivation tower until they took it back. She threw herself onto the bed and giggled.

"Ah~ Look at your face~"

Just seeing Luo Lan’s confusion made her heart beam with joy.

The secret of his life belonged to her and her alone. He only told her to tell Luo Lan if she found out on her own.

So, she purposely hid details and let misconceptions spread.

"Now all I need is to wait for that girl to die and I’ll have him all for myself~"

Hong Qing smiled and kicked her feet on his bed.

She buried her nose in his pillow and sniffed it.

"Hmp~ hmp~"

Now all she needed was to cultivate more and kill anyone who dared threaten her soon-to-be number one position.

She was sure he wouldn’t mind that either. Because he was just that cool.

And she would be right.

He wouldn’t care if any of them died, as long as his main plan moved forward.

They were more like bonus objectives he picked up along the way.

But there was one thing Hong Qing got wrong.

Luo Lan was naive, but she wasn’t stupid.

Freeze!

An ice wave crashed through the open door. It shocked the room and pinned Hong Qing to the bed. The cold gnawed at her skin, slowed her circulation.

She couldn’t move her arms or legs. Breathing became rigid, and when she did manage to pull air in, it froze her core and hurt.

"You said yes." A cold, emotionless voice came from behind. Luo Lan walked gracefully on an ice path atop the frozen tomb. Hong Qing tried to look up, but the ice was too thick. It crushed her down.

As a courtesy, Luo Lan used her heel to scrape a hole near her head so she could breathe.

"What are you doing?!" Hong Qing was terrified. She saw the coldness reflected in the ice like a mirror.

"You said he was alive. But something was off."

This was what Luo Lan thought of Hong Qing: a lying, manipulative bitch who would do anything for a man. In these circumstances, there was a slim chance this woman might agree to hide details and save Han Suwen in exchange for her own life.

Because as much as Hong Qing thought she was smart enough to bypass Luo Lan’s truth filter, Luo Lan knew her own limits better than anyone.

She caught on to what Hong Qing was doing.

"I’ll give you ten seconds to explain." A spike of ice hovered right in front of Hong Qing’s stuck-out head, fully visible. "I don’t have much time left."

The clock to her doom started ticking. The Luo Lan that everyone knew returned.

And it was a grim reminder to Hong Qing.

Even if they both had status as his women, Luo Lan was, and still remained, the strongest.
