Evolving My Mythic Legion With A Legendary Skill-Chapter 89: The Swarm!
"Lord, there are a bunch of Frost Bears ahead, we will have to slow down." Leon reported.
Neil nodded, they had been facing quite a few Frost Bears lately, at least it was free gene points and shards, so he didn’t mind.
TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK
Even after a day, the bell had not stopped ringing, showing a constant danger of level 3.
"Magnar, go take care of them." He said, for his familiar this would be an easy task.
And now he didn’t have to worry about preserving their corpses, even if Magnar melted their bodies to a puddle, he would still get the loot.
Magnar yawned, then got up and walked out of the domain. Right after getting out, his body increased in size.
Soon, he was as high as fifteen feet, magma flowing over his skin and he looked even more frightening.
Of course, that wasn’t his full size.
Holding Ileana in his arm, Neil stood close to the entrance and gazed at the Frost Bears who had started to run towards them.
THUMP THUMP
His heartbeat suddenly sped up, Neil felt an intense sense of danger, his body shook slightly.
’Isn’t it just a bunch of Frost Bears?’ he frowned, but couldn’t be careless in such a place.
"Eli, stay back, I need to check something." He said, cupping her face, then kissing her forehead he turned to leave.
Ileana nodded, moving closer to the campfire, she still felt anxious about the earlier scene.
"Leon, get ready for battle." Neil paused and ordered, then continued to walk.
"Yes, lord." Though it was just a bunch of Frost Bears, Leon obediently began to order around as if a big fight was about to break out.
Magnar’s enormous figure was clearly visible through the fog, glowing and roaring.
BOOOM!
A wild breath of fire struck the ground, reaping the lives of over eight Frost Bears instantly and the ground seemed clear.
’There doesn’t seem to be any more Frost Bears, could there be a link around?’ he had been feeling really anxious lately.
Just now, after giving the diamond class gene potion to Magnar, Neil was interrupted by Ileana who had seen a strange thing.
But strangely enough, the additional rewards he received this time again were three earthquake bombs, even stronger than the ones before.
And nothing else.
He sighed, but looked at Magnar, at least his familiar had grown by that gene potion.
[Aquamorph Activation Failed!]
The activation failed, so there was no link around.
"Is there anything else around?" he observed the surroundings, but found nothing.
After waiting for a few more moments, he turned and started walking back with Magnar, who was already shrinking down.
ROAR
Just then, a not so loud roar reverberated, and then the fog parted as a weak looking Frost Bear ran towards them.
Its body was covered in blood, in human blood...
’Has it come from the settlement?’ the dual blades instantly flashed in Neil’s hands.
This gave him a terrible feeling, so everyone in the settlement was already dead?
Why did all of them have to suffer in this hell hole?
Who exactly was the one who had locked this place away?
Did the people outside really not manage to find it, or did they just not want to?
Arriving here, was their fate already sealed?
Neil couldn’t believe he was starting to live comfortably in this disgusting death realm.
Staying with Ileana, spending time with and learning from his teacher, spending time with his new friends.
He had started to forget everything, even his earlier urgency to escape.
Pain shot through Neil’s head, it was as if something had taken root deep into his mind, growing slowly and turning him into a puppet without him ever noticing it.
But it brought rage, endless rage.
Why was this happening?
Why couldn’t he enjoy a normal life like others his age?
Stepping forward, the blades moved quickly with a frenzied urgency, cutting the Frost Bear into tiny pieces.
Yet it didn’t quell his rage. Taking a deep breath, he looked back at his domain, at his subjects and at his lovely Ileana.
Right, he just needed to get out of this gutter with his family, that’s all that mattered.
The rest of the world, the humans, the phantoms or his parents could go die for all he cared.
Which of them had ever helped him out?
"Continue!" Neil’s loud voice sounded as the domain began to move forward slowly, his long hair swaying in the heavy storm.
Despite everything, his will stayed as strong as ever, no it had already grown to a terrifying level, he wouldn’t break down from this.
The will of a person couldn’t be measured or increased just because one wanted to.
It increased with the level of challenges they faced, the pain, everything that tried to break them instead shaped their will.
Although it might not seem important, but in a warrior’s life it played an extremely important role.
It directly increased a person’s battle prowess, or made them resistant to an opponent’s oppressive power or various skills targeting the mind.
Magnar jumped into the domain as it got closer, Neil gazed around for a moment longer before he too entered.
"Eli-"
RUMBLE
Just then the ground started to shake violently, but there was nothing under the ground.
The domain too started to shake as the rumbling sound got louder and louder, putting everyone on high alert.
’So danger really was approaching us...’ Neil glanced around and everyone else had already taken battle stances.
Even the giants had already lined up outside the domain, while the archers held their bows, ready to shoot arrows at any moment.
The vultures were flying around the domain and Nemo controlled the guardian.
Neil had already purchased two new troops to fill the gap.
But the rumbling sound grew to a degree that made all their ears hurt.
In the fog, hundreds, thousands of silhouettes became visible.
Neil’s face turned ashen, it was the sound of thousands of beasts dashing towards them, approaching from all directions.
So, these things had really been chasing them? Or had they just entered their territory?
Neil felt a bit tired, there were so many of them, it all seemed hopeless, what could he even do against so many?
Deafening roars made the surroundings tremble, the number of beasts was way too high.
"Prepare for battle!!" Neil’s loud voice amidst the roars brought everyone back to their senses.
Even if it meant death, they would die trying rather than wait for it.
All the troops let out battle cries, the Elven archers already began to shoot out arrows in a frenzy.
Neil wondered if those bombs would help him in this situation, it was worth trying.
[Aquamorph Activation Failed!]
"Tsk Leon, take charge!" Neil said as he glanced back, his gaze faintly meeting with Ileana’s.
She had seen him transform into a phantom before, but she didn’t ask any questions nor did she show any revulsion.
He was sure most people would behave the exact opposite, they would think of him as a threat and a monster.
He was really lucky to have her in his life, even if to protect her, Neil decided to give his everything to beat this shitty place.
ROOAAAARRRRRRRR
A roar escaped his throat as his body transformed, the swords disappeared and dark fog swirled around him.
His aura froze dozens of Frost Bears.
