Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World-Chapter 889: Surprise
Michael closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again. The initial shock had faded a bit.
His gaze shifted back to the panel.
"...Let’s see."
The first thing he noticed was his class.
[Class]: Lord Necromancer
Before, it had been Master Necromancer. Now, Lord Necromancer. The change was simple in wording, but not in meaning. This was recognition. A complete step into Rank Three.
Michael could feel it faintly, a difference subtle but real. The connection between him and his undead had deepened. More absolute than before.
"...Lord, huh." A faint smile appeared on his face. It fit.
Then his attention shifted.
"...Fifteen levels."
He wasn’t surprised, not really. This had been part of the reward. The system had already hinted at it before his advancement. But even then, seeing it directly still felt good. Level 50, straight to 65. A jump like that wasn’t small, especially not at this stage.
Michael exhaled softly. "...Not bad."
His lips curved slightly. Why wouldn’t he be happy? This was pure gain. He had almost died for this.
Then his focus moved again and Michael’s gaze finally came to a pause.
He noticed he seemed to have gotten another gift and even a new title.
For the gift, even though he hadn’t yet checked the description of the new one, he was happy to have another. For the new title though, Michael couldn’t help but feel a flicker of worry. Hopefully it wouldn’t turn out to be a companion to one particular title he already carried.
His gaze settled on the new gift first.
[Gift]: Aurora’s Child
[Description]: Ever since Aurora awakened, she has been searching for a partner to her will. Unfortunately, she has yet to find one. Still, Aurora has not given up. At certain points, she chooses individuals born within her realm as candidates to inherit her will.
[Effect]: Law effectiveness is increased by 200% within Aurora.
[Note]: You are the fifth live candidate.
Michael didn’t move.
"...200%?"
The effect hit him first. Not the story.
His mind ran through it instantly. He just so happened to have a treasure that could achieve the same effect, except that treasure couldn’t be used for an infinite period. This gift, as long as he was in Aurora, had no such limit.
Michael’s body shook slightly. Just earlier he had been wondering how strong he actually was now. He hadn’t been able to form an accurate estimate, but he’d had his expectations. Now those expectations were starting to scare him.
Also...
"Did I just somehow get myself in line to becoming a realm master?"
Michael knew a bit about what it meant to be a planet or realm master. Even if the opportunity were handed to him directly, he would refuse it. There was no guarantee he would reach the highest level this realm could allow, but as long as the possibility existed, he intended to keep that path open.
Fortunately there was no need to fear being forced into it. Aurora would need his permission. It could only ever be done willingly.
Still, Michael had never expected a day would come where any kind of connection between him and a world would begin to form. His excitement shot through the roof as he turned to the new title next.
[Title]: The One Who Origin Acknowledged
[Description]: There have only been a few individuals who could leave a deep impression on the will of all origin.
[Effect]: Can actively seek the presence of the origin will.
[Note]: The more you use the title effect, the higher the possibility of being ignored.
Michael raised an eyebrow.
Thinking back on what he had recently gone through without warning, he was tempted to use the title effect for the first time just to say a piece of his mind. He thought better of it.
In any case, this title was a treasure regardless.
At this point Michael was beginning to form some ideas about the identity of the origin will, ideas he believed were close to the truth. Just as realms had wills, like Aurora for example, what about the universe itself? There was no proof yet, but Michael had a strong feeling that this so-called origin will was the will of the universe. If that were so, then a great deal of its actions and abilities became understandable.
Michael exhaled slowly, then his gaze shifted again.
"...Let’s see if any title got updated."
Some titles were blessings. Some were not. Michael had already learned that the hard way. His focus moved down the list.
[Title]: First in History
[Title]: Outlier
[Title]: True Human
He skimmed through them. No changes. No new descriptions. Nothing different.
"...Same as before." Good. He preferred it that way.
Then his gaze moved further down and stopped.
[Title]: Mortal God (25%)
Michael’s eyes narrowed slightly. This one had changed. Before, there had been no percentage, no visible progression attached to it. Michael focused and the description unfolded.
[Title]: Mortal God (25%)
[Description]: A mortal who has stepped beyond mortal limits and begun to touch the domain of gods.
[Effect]: Physical durability, vitality, and recovery are drastically increased. Your mortal body functions as a pseudo-divine vessel, granting resistance to law-based damage.
[Note]: The closer you are to completion, the closer you are to transcendence. After transcendence, you gain a divine body.
Michael was actually not surprised. This was the very reason the lightning tribulation had happened in the first place. It had never been a simple breakthrough. If this title had remained unchanged after all that, that would have been the truly shocking outcome.
Still, understanding did not mean clarity. If anything, this only raised more questions.
Michael narrowed his eyes slightly. "...Divine body."
It seemed he needed to research the ranks above him far more seriously than he had.
Soon Michael pulled his attention away from gifts and titles entirely and moved to what was, after his personal growth, the most exciting part of any Advancement.
"Please let me get a legendary grade treasure. Please..." Michael muttered to himself as he reached into his storage space.
