EX-Grade Ability Card: Tower Ascension with My Absolute Restoration-Chapter 39: The Perpetrator
Chapter 39: The Perpetrator
"Man, you’ve given me quite the hard time chasing after all of you..." playing around with the sword in his hand as he looks at the figure trying to pull his limping self away from him with his arms, Azrael mutters more to himself rather than to this figure who is shrieking in terror trying to avoid eye contact with him as much as possible.
"What the hell happened to that bravado of yours, dealing with me and all that stuff, come on, do something, I thought this was an assassination attempt against me?" finally arriving right beside the figure ignoring his words, the young man then knelt right beside him as he drives the sharp edge of his jet-black sword into this figure’s spinal column, piercing through the gaps between this set of bones and severing his spinal cord completely, alleviating the figure from the pain he is feeling from his lower body.
As much as he feels relief no longer having to feel such excruciating pain though, the figure still couldn’t help but let out a loud, terrified scream as the realization of the fact that he can no longer walk in this life dawned upon him, that is, if he could even survive this encounter with a demon that they should’ve never touched in the first place.
"Haha, you’re all that confident when thinking that you can assassinate me, how does it feel getting the situation turned around? How does it feel getting assassinated?" Azrael said as he starts twisting the sword in his hand, creating an even greater wound right on where he severed this figure’s spinal cord, controlling the Evil Fang Sword well enough to prevent it from absorbing this figure’s life force too quickly, this slowed process making the figure feel even more pain than what he previously felt.
"P-please, no more... h-how is this even an assassination? You butchered all of us..." recalling the gruesome death his companions suffered from this brutal young man, this figure couldn’t help but ask in utter confusion, seemingly no longer caring whether he would die in the hands of this young man or not.
Hearing the figure’s question, Azrael felt baffled for a second, pausing for a moment before he started laughing his heart out, confusing the figure even more, said figure’s expression turning into something filled with utter incredulousness the moment that he heard this young man’s answer.
"Wouldn’t it count as assassination as long as I leave no witness?" the young man replied with a smile on his face, his words making the figure shiver in terror, all while his mind also realizes the truth in this young man’s words, no matter how absurd his claim is. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Seeing the silence of the figure being pinned to the ground by his favored weapon, Azrael then starts speaking once again as he twists his sword to pull the attention of the figure towards him, an action so effective that the figure already surrendered and screamed from just a little movement from the sword buried in his body.
"Stop! Stop! I will tell everything I know! Please just end this suffering!!!" knowing full well that there’s just no way he will survive this encounter, the figure negotiates for the second-best thing he can ask for right now, and that is a painless death, something that the young man doesn’t have any problem giving.
"Your life is already hanging on a thread, so tell me everything you know, no need to tell me who it is that sent you and their reasons for it, I already have a pretty clear idea of who your master is..." the young man then said with a trace of anger apparent in his voice, something that even this enemies that is intending to kill him doesn’t hear from him when he is mocking them as they fight.
"T-that... there’s nothing else that I can say then... I heard that the leader sent people to make sure you never ascend to higher floors because of that... that woman..." the figure then said with a wheezing breath clearly struggling to spout any more words from his own mouth, and yet the fear of an extremely traumatic and brutal death kept himself from feeling too weak to speak.
"I see, that old bastard is still as petty as ever, huh..." hearing the words from this person’s mouth, Azrael pretty much confirmed the reason why he was being tailed by this group for quite a long while now.
"Hahaha, you’re lucky the legia only sent us for now, this is not the end... there are... a lot more people stronger than us..." the figure, having said everything and already decided to let go of his own life, felt an unprecedented peace and confidence to the point that he even managed to threaten the person who had his life in his grasp.
"We’ll see about that...." Azrael replies with a smile on his face as thoughts start to surface in his mind.
’I expected that it would be some petty reason, but just for this? Haha, Augustus, just what sort of all-time low had you drove yourself to fall into?’ still in disbelief that he would be hunted by ascenders of far higher floors than his current ones due to the opinion of a lady towards him, the young man couldn’t help but laugh in self-mockery as he felt disdain towards a specific person growing in his heart.
"You’re such a troublesome woman, giving me problems even now..." as he purges himself of the thoughts about the perpetrator of this event though, another face appears in his mind, one that is filled with such extreme coldness and dignity that one might mistake her for an empress who rules with absolute authority over her subjects, which is in fact, not too far from the truth.
As he thought of this face though, he forgot to keep the control of the Evil Fang Sword in his hand, prompting the terrifying weapon to start absorbing the life force of the figure beside him, making the figure scream in terror as he experienced being drained of his power for the last moments of his life.
