Chapter 113: Chapter

After freshening up, I stepped out of the room and went downstairs to get some water, moving quietly through the dim corridor as the house settled into the calm of the night.

With the cup in my hand, I began to walk back upstairs at an unhurried pace. My hair was left loose, falling naturally over my shoulders and down my back, with a few damp strands resting against my neck, while the thin inner robe I wore felt light against my skin in the cool air of the evening.

As I passed by the boys’ room, a faint sound reached my ears.

I slowed my steps slightly, my attention shifting toward the door as the sound came again, this time clearer, like a low murmur mixed with uneven breathing. It was not loud, but it did not feel normal.

I stopped.

For a brief moment, I listened carefully, my brows drawing together as the uneasiness settled in my chest. Without wasting any more time, I reached for the door and pushed it open.

The room was dark.

Too dark.

It looked like the lantern inside had gone out completely, leaving only faint shadows that made it difficult to see clearly at first.

Then my eyes adjusted.

I saw them.

Fu Jin and Fu Jun.

The moment the door opened and I stepped in, both of them turned toward me at the same time, their expressions stiffening as if they had been caught in something they could not handle on their own. For a brief second, they looked frozen, like they did not know what to say.

"Mother..." Fu Jin called softly, his voice unsteady.

I stepped further inside immediately and moved toward the lantern, adjusting it carefully until the flame came back to life. The soft light filled the room, pushing away the darkness.

And then—

I saw clearly.

Fu Jun was lying on the bed, his face flushed an unnatural shade of red, while sweat covered his forehead and dampened his hair. His small body trembled under the blanket, and his breathing was uneven, as if he was struggling even in his sleep.

Beside him, Fu Jin sat close, holding his brother’s hand tightly, his face pale with worry and his eyes filled with panic he was trying to hold back.

"Mother..." he called again, this time his voice breaking slightly.

I moved quickly to the bedside, placing the cup aside without thinking as I leaned closer.

"What happened?" I asked, my voice calm but firm.

Fu Jin shook his head quickly.

"I do not know," he said. "He was fine before... then he suddenly became like this."

I reached out and placed my hand gently on Fu Jun’s forehead.

The heat that met my palm made my expression change immediately.

He was burning. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Not just a mild fever.

This was serious.

I checked again carefully, my fingers lingering slightly as I confirmed it, then I looked back at Fu Jin.

"He has a fever," I said.

Fu Jin’s grip tightened instantly.

"Will he be alright?" he asked, his voice low but urgent, as if he was afraid of the answer.

I did not respond immediately.

Instead, I observed Fu Jun more closely, taking in the way his body reacted, the way his breathing shifted, and the way the heat continued to rise from his skin.

Then I asked,

"When did this start?"

Fu Jin swallowed slightly.

"Not long ago," he said. "He said he felt cold first... then he started shaking."

I nodded slowly, understanding the pattern.

I lifted my gaze and looked directly at him.

"I understand."

His eyes were already red, filled with fear he could not hide anymore.

"Please help him," he said, his voice trembling now. "Please..."

I held his gaze for a moment.

Then I answered him clearly,

"I will."

There was no hesitation in my voice, and that alone made him pause slightly.

"He will be fine," I added.

Fu Jin nodded quickly, holding onto those words as if they were the only thing keeping him steady.

I stood up immediately, my thoughts already moving ahead.

"I need water and clean cloth," I said.

"I will get it," Fu Jin replied at once, standing up quickly.

"Be careful," I added.

He nodded and rushed out without wasting a second.

I turned back to the bed.

Fu Jun shifted slightly, his brows tightening as if he was uncomfortable even in his unconscious state, and another wave of heat rose from his body.

I adjusted the blanket around him carefully and wiped the sweat from his forehead with my sleeve, my movements steady even though my mind was already working through what needed to be done next.

"Hold on," I said quietly.

My voice was low, but firm.

Without hesitation, I closed my eyes briefly and called softly,

"Kiwi."

A faint glow appeared in front of me, soft and familiar, forming into the translucent screen.

[ GreetingsHost.. you seem to be in quite a dilemma! ]

I did not waste time.

"I need fever treatment," I said. "From the medical inventory."

The screen flickered.

[ Searching Medical Storage... ]

My gaze remained on Fu Jun as I waited, my fingers already resting lightly against his wrist to monitor his condition.

A second later—

[ Available Items: Fever Reducer Tablets, Cooling Patches, Clean Gauze, Herbal Heat Relief Powder ]

I exhaled slightly.

"Good," I said. "Bring out the cooling patches and fever reducer."

[ Confirmed ]

A faint shimmer passed through the air.

The items appeared in my hand.

I moved immediately.

First, I placed the cooling patch gently against his forehead, adjusting it carefully so it stayed in place. Then I prepared the medicine, my movements steady and precise.

Fu Jun stirred slightly, his brows tightening.

"It is alright," I murmured softly. "You will be fine."

The heat was still there.

But now It was under control.

I glanced toward the door briefly, knowing Fu Jin would return any moment.

Then I looked back at Fu Jun.

Everything was ready.

All that mattered was bringing the fever down.
