Chapter 115: Chapter

"You are also someone’s child," he murmured quietly.

His voice was low, almost a whisper.

"...If I do not take care of you, then who will?"

There was no response.

Only the steady rhythm of sleep.

He let out a small breath, then leaned forward slightly and slipped one arm beneath me, supporting my back, while the other moved carefully under my knees.

With a gentle motion—

He lifted me.

His movements were steady and controlled, careful enough that I would not wake, holding me securely as if I might slip if he was not attentive.

He adjusted his hold slightly, making sure I was comfortable, then turned and walked towards our bed room.

Each step was quiet..

The door was pushed open slowly, and he entered without making a sound.

Inside, the room was dim, the air calm and undisturbed.

He walked to the bed and lowered me carefully, placing me down gently as if I were something fragile. He adjusted the pillow beneath my head, then pulled the blanket over me, covering me properly so I would not feel the chill of the night.

For a moment—

He did not move away.

He stood there, looking down at me, his expression calm, but thoughtful.

Then he reached out once more and adjusted the edge of the blanket slightly, making sure it rested properly.

Only after that did he step back.

The room fell quiet again.

And without a word—

He turned and left, closing the door softly behind him.

.....

The moment I woke up, my eyes opened wide.

"Fu Jun—"

His name left my lips before my thoughts could catch up, and I sat up immediately, my gaze moving quickly around the room.

But—

I was not there.

I was back in my own room.

I lowered my gaze slightly.

"...When did I come back?"

I did not remember walking back.

I did not remember leaving the boys’ room at all.

Then—

My thoughts paused.

Fu Sheng.

I let out a small breath and shook my head lightly.

"...So it was him."

There was no one else it could be.

I did not stay there for long.

I pushed the blanket aside and stood up quickly, moving without delay as I changed into my outer clothes and tied my hair back properly.

Once I was ready, I stepped out of the room and walked straight toward the boys’ room without stopping.

The corridor was already brighter now, morning light slipping in through the windows and spreading softly across the floor. I could hear faint movements from downstairs, which meant everyone was already beginning their day.

But I did not slow down.

I reached the door and pushed it open.

The moment I stepped in, my eyes went straight to the bed.

Fu Jun.

He was still lying there, covered properly, his small body no longer trembling like before. The redness on his face had reduced, and though he still looked weak, his breathing was steady.

I stepped closer immediately and placed my hand on his forehead.

Warm.

But not burning.

The fever had gone down.

A small breath escaped me.

"...Good."

Beside him, Fu Jin was still asleep, lying close, one arm stretched slightly toward his brother as if he had not fully let go even in his sleep.

I adjusted the blanket around them gently, making sure neither of them would get cold.

"You handled it well."

The voice came from behind.

I turned slightly.

Fu Sheng stood by the door.

He had already changed, his posture straight, his expression calm, but there was a quiet steadiness in his eyes.

I looked at him for a moment.

"You brought me back," I said.

It was not a question.

He nodded.

"You fell asleep," he replied. "You needed rest."

I did not argue.

Instead, I said,

"You stayed."

"Yes."

I looked back at the boys again.

"His fever has reduced," I said.

"I checked earlier," Fu Sheng replied. "It went down during the night."

I nodded slowly.

"That is good."

There was a brief silence.

Then I asked,

"Did he wake up?"

"Not yet," he said. "But he slept more peacefully after the medicine."

I reached out again and adjusted the cloth lightly, though it was no longer needed as before.

Fu Sheng stepped a little closer.

"You should eat something," he said. "You did not rest properly."

I did not answer immediately.

My gaze remained on Fu Jun.

"I will," I said after a moment. "Later."

He did not press further.

Instead, he stood beside me quietly.

"You look like you did not sleep all night," I said.

Fu Sheng paused.

For a brief second, he did not respond.

Then a faint smile appeared on his lips, subtle but clear, as he walked toward me without saying anything.

Before I could react—

His hand came around my waist.

He pulled me slightly closer.

I blinked, caught off guard by the sudden movement, my hand instinctively resting against his chest as I looked up at him.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

His gaze lowered slightly, his expression calm, but there was something else in it now, something less restrained than before.

"I stayed up all night," he said.

His voice was low.

Then he added,

"Should I not be rewarded for that?"

I stared at him for a moment.

"...Rewarded?" I repeated.

"Yes," he replied without hesitation.

His hand remained at my waist, not tightening, but not letting go either, as if he had already decided he was not stepping back.

I let out a small breath, my eyes narrowing slightly as I looked at him.

"This is not the time," I said.

He did not move.

"Then when is the time?" he asked calmly.

I did not answer immediately.

Instead, I glanced toward the bed.

Fu Jin and Fu Jun were still asleep.

I lowered my voice slightly.

"They are here," I said.

"I can see that," he replied.

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Then I said,

"You did well last night."

His gaze shifted slightly.

"That is all?" he asked.

I almost smiled.

"What else do you want?" I asked.

He held my gaze.

"You already said it," he replied.

I understood what he meant.

But I did not give it to him immediately.

Instead, I reached up and lightly pushed against his chest.

"Let go," I said.

"Later after breakfast meet me in the bedroom.," I replied.

He watched me for a moment.

Then a faint smile returned to his lips.

"...perfect.. I’ll go check on my mom and make sure breakfast is being prepared already," he said with a mischievous smirk.
