Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 99 -
The night passed quietly, and when I opened my eyes, the room was already filled with soft morning light that slipped in through the window and rested gently across the floor.
I turned my head slightly and looked beside me, only to find that the space was empty and already cold, which meant Fu Sheng had been gone for quite some time.
I stayed there for a moment, staring at the empty space, before slowly sitting up and adjusting my clothes as my thoughts settled.
"...He left early," I murmured softly.
I did not dwell on it for long, because there were more important things to focus on.
I got down from the bed and washed up quickly, using the water that had been left behind, then changed into my outer clothes and tied my hair neatly, making sure it would not get in my way.
Once I was done, I walked toward the door and stepped outside.
The moment I entered the courtyard, I noticed that almost everyone was already awake and moving about, each person busy with something.
Madame Fu and Master Fu had taken one of the rooms downstairs, while Fu Li and Fu Fei shared another room together, and Bai Ming stayed with her two children. Fu Teng and Fu Tong had a room of their own, especially now that they were nearing the age where marriage would soon be arranged, and the younger boys had their own space as well.
The house no longer felt empty like it did yesterday.
It now felt lived in, with people moving, talking, and settling into their roles.
I took a few steps forward and looked around.
Bai Ming was already in the courtyard, crouching slightly as she tried to clean the children, holding Fu Qin still while wiping his face.
"Stand still properly," she said firmly.
"I am standing," Fu Qin complained, trying to pull away.
"You are not standing, you are moving," she replied as she held his chin in place.
Beside them, Fu Lin stood quietly and allowed her to clean him without any resistance.
"Look at your brother," Bai Ming said. "He is not making trouble."
Fu Qin frowned immediately.
"I do not want to be like him," he said.
I watched them for a moment before shifting my gaze.
Not far from them, Fu Teng was standing beside Master Fu, carefully unwrapping the cloth around his injured leg while checking it with a focused expression.
"Does it hurt today?" Fu Teng asked as he examined it closely.
Master Fu shook his head slightly.
"It feels better than yesterday," he replied.
Fu Teng nodded as he adjusted the cloth again.
"The swelling has reduced," he said. "If it continues like this, you should be able to walk more steadily soon."
Master Fu gave a small nod.
"That is good."
Their voices were calm and steady, and it was clear that things were slowly improving.
From the side, I could hear movement coming from the outdoor kitchen, where Madame Fu and Fu Fei were already preparing breakfast.
"Pass that to me," Madame Fu said as she reached out.
Fu Fei handed it over immediately.
"There is still some flour left," Fu Fei added. "We can make something simple this morning."
"That will be enough," Madame Fu replied.
The sound of light cooking followed, and the smell of food slowly began to spread through the air.
Everything felt normal.
Peaceful.
But as I stood there, I noticed something.
Fu Sheng was not there.
I looked around the courtyard again, scanning each corner carefully, but he was nowhere to be seen.
My brows drew together slightly.
"Where did he go so early?" I said quietly.
Just then, Fu Li noticed me standing there.
"Sister-in-law, you are awake," she said as she walked a little closer.
I nodded.
"Yes, I just came out."
She glanced toward the gate before speaking again.
"Second brother left early this morning," she said. "He said he had something to check."
I paused for a moment.
"Did he say where he was going?" I asked.
Fu Li shook her head.
"No, he did not say clearly. He only said he would return soon."
I nodded slowly.
"I see."
That meant he had already gone out ahead of time.
I turned my gaze toward the gate again, my thoughts aligning with the plan I had made the night before.
I needed to look for land.
If I wanted to start farming, then I had to act early and not waste time.
I stood there for a moment longer, then spoke.
"I will step out for a while," I said calmly.
Fu Fei’s voice came from the kitchen.
"So early in the morning?"
"I want to look around," I replied.
Madame Fu did not stop me.
"Be careful outside," she said.
"I will be," I answered.
With that, I turned and walked toward the gate, stepping out of the courtyard and into the open path outside.
I had just stepped past the gate when the sound of horses reached my ears.
The sharp rhythm of hooves against the ground broke the quiet morning, and I stopped immediately, turning my head toward the direction of the sound.
A small carriage came into view.
It was not large or luxurious, but it was neat and well-kept, and the horse pulling it looked strong and steady. The wheels rolled to a stop not far from our gate.
The moment it stopped, the noise had already drawn attention.
People in the courtyard began to come out one after another.
Bai Ming straightened from where she stood with the children, wiping her hands quickly as she looked toward the entrance. Fu Li stepped forward curiously, while Fu Fei and Madame Fu came out from the kitchen. Even Master Fu shifted slightly where he sat, trying to see clearly.
I remained where I was, watching.
The carriage door opened.
An Yu stepped down.
He looked just as composed as before, his movements calm and steady as his feet touched the ground. His clothes were simple but clean, and his expression carried the same quiet confidence.
His eyes lifted and landed on me immediately.
"Madam Su," he greeted politely as he walked closer.
I nodded slightly.
"You came early," I said.
"I did," he replied.
There was no unnecessary explanation in his tone.
I looked at him for a moment before asking,
"You are here for Fu Teng?"
He nodded without hesitation.
"Yes."
Before I could say anything else, Fu Li suddenly turned back toward the house and called out loudly,
"Fu Teng!"
Her voice carried clearly through the courtyard.
A moment later, footsteps sounded from inside.
Fu Teng stepped out.
He paused the moment he saw An Yu standing there.
For a brief second, neither of them spoke.
They simply looked at each other.
The air felt different.
Fu Teng’s expression was calm, but there was a slight pause in his movement, as if he had not expected him to come this early.
An Yu stood straight, his gaze steady.
"I came to take you," he said.
His voice was direct.
No hesitation.
Fu Teng walked a few steps forward.
"So early?" he asked.
"There is work to do," An Yu replied.
Their exchange was simple, but it carried weight.
From the side, Fu Tong leaned slightly toward Fu Li and spoke in a low voice,
"He did not even wait."
Fu Li frowned slightly.
"At least he came," she replied.
I watched quietly.
Fu Teng did not respond immediately.
He glanced back once, toward Master Fu and the others, then returned his gaze to An Yu.
"I will come," he said.
An Yu gave a small nod.
Then he stepped aside slightly, making space.
The meaning was clear.... Fu Teng had decided to agree.. i wonder what changed his mind all of a sudden.
