Exiled Prince and His Succubus Army-Chapter 36: Teasing Renji
Renji awoke with a system notification flashing in his mind, informing him that his vitality had been replenished and consciousness restored. He blinked his eyes open, the world coming into sharp focus amid the forest clearing.
Above him, the massive beast’s body still pinned him down, its lifeless weight heavy on his chest, fur matted with blood from the battle. The sunlight filtered through the leaves in the same pattern as before the impact, unchanged.
Confusion washed over him briefly, what had happened? The beast’s final lunge had caught him off guard, slamming into him with enough force to knock him out cold.
Before he could fully process it, Aya and Kaede rushed over, their faces etched with worry. Aya’s telekinesis activated in a subtle glow, lifting one side of the beast’s bulk with an invisible push, while Kaede grabbed a limb and heaved with her strength. Together, they rolled the creature off him, the ground thudding as it flopped to the side.
Renji sat up slowly, propping himself on his elbows, and rubbed the back of his head where a dull throb lingered. "How long was I out?" he asked, his voice a bit groggy. But glancing at the beast’s position, exactly as it had fallen, he realized it couldn’t have been long at all, perhaps mere seconds. The forest birds still chirped the same tune, no scavengers had approached yet.
Still, the alarm gnawed at him; he’d been knocked out so easily, a reminder of his vulnerabilities in this world. He felt like he had a long way to go, levels to climb, power to build, if he was going to survive and thrive.
Shaking off the daze, Renji summoned his system interface with a thought. He checked his shop points and saw he now had about 2000.
A satisfied smile crept across his face; that was more like it. Without hesitation, he navigated to the shop menu, eyes scanning the options until he landed on the vitality potion. It cost 500 points, a worthwhile investment.
He purchased it, the small vial materializing in his palm with a faint shimmer. Uncorking it, he downed the contents in one swig, the liquid cool and invigorating, racing through his veins like a revitalizing elixir. Almost instantly, he felt good again, refreshed, as if the knockout had never happened.
His muscles buzzed with new energy, his mind sharpened, like he was brand new and ready for anything. He stood up, dusting off his clothes, and gave Aya and Kaede a reassuring nod.
The three of them packed the harvested crystals, glowing, fist-sized orbs pulsing with energy, into their bags, securing the loot from the beast. With everything gathered, they set off back to the shrine, the forest path winding peacefully under the late afternoon sun.
When they arrived at the shrine, Renji spotted Rei waiting at the entrance, her priestess robes swaying gently in the breeze, her expression serene yet expectant.
Something stirred in him at the sight of her, her delicate features, the quiet grace that set her apart. He quickened his pace, closing the distance to pull her into a warm hug, his arms enveloping her slender frame.
On impulse, he leaned in and gave her a peck on the cheek, soft and quick, but loaded with affection. Rei went into shock, her body freezing in place as a deep blush exploded across her face, turning her cheeks a vivid crimson.
Her eyes widened, hands hovering awkwardly, the unexpected gesture leaving her flustered and speechless.
Stepping back but keeping a gentle hold on her arm, Renji reached into his pocket and pulled out a lily he’d plucked earlier, its petals pristine white with a hint of pink, dewdrops still clinging from the forest. "I found this earlier," he said, handing it to her with a smile. "Took it because it reminded me of your dainty beauty, pure and graceful, just like you."
Kaede and Aya, standing a few steps behind, looked at each other in surprise, eyebrows raised. They hadn’t noticed him plucking any flower during their move through the forest. "When did he even...?" Aya whispered, Kaede shrugging with a puzzled grin.
Aya couldn’t resist noting it aloud, her tone teasing. "Renji, you’ve never brought any of us flowers before." Kaede nodded, crossing her arms expectantly.
Renji mumbled some excuse, scratching his head. "Well, I didn’t know you liked them. But now I know, I’ll remember that." He flashed them a charming grin, defusing the moment.
He turned back to Rei, who thanked him shyly, her voice soft and trembling slightly as she held the lily close. "Thank you... it’s beautiful." They all entered the shrine together, the group settling into the familiar space, the air inside cool and scented with incense.
Rei immediately wanted to start cooking, needing a distraction from Renji’s actions, the hug and peck had awakened something unfamiliar, her body starting to sing a new, dangerous tune that clashed with her vows of faith and purity. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
The flower in her hand felt like a symbol of that shift, its scent lingering. "I’ll prepare the meal," she said quickly, grabbing the meat they’d harvested, and heading out to the cooking area at the forest’s edge behind the shrine. The open space would give her room to breathe, to focus on something tangible.
She grabbed the meat they got and entered the forest clearing, starting to cook over the simple fire pit. Kindling the flames with dry twigs, she skewered the meat and seasoned it with herbs, the routine motions a welcome anchor as the fire crackled to life.
Renji followed her under the guise of helping, his footsteps light on the path. "Let me assist," he offered casually, but his eyes held that playful glint. As they worked side by side, he teased her relentlessly, his fingers "accidentally" brushing her arm while handing over a spice, his hand lightly grazing her waist when reaching for a tool.
Each touch was subtle, "mistaken," but it made her gasp softly, her skin flushing with unexpected pleasure. Rei’s heart raced, the sensations foreign and thrilling, her composure cracking under the relentless flirtation.
Rei was surprised at the goosebumps that rose on her arms, prickling her skin in waves she couldn’t ignore, her body betraying her disciplined mind.
Renji then had to pass to the other side to grab something and the space was tight, hemmed in by logs and supplies. He squeezed behind her, his body pressing against hers in the narrow gap, chest to back, hips aligning for a lingering moment. Rei felt his rod, hard and insistent, pressed against her behind through their clothes.
The contact sent a shockwave through her, her breath catching in a silent gasp, the lily’s memory mingling with this new, forbidden heat.
