Exo Seeker: The Strongest Human Woke Up In The Future!-Chapter 47: The Husband
Kael and the miner parted ways with the young man Trey. They agreed to meet laterโmaybe tomorrowโafter exchanging their Status Band IDs. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐๐ธ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐ค๐ถ
Using a Status Band, Primers could communicate with each other no matter where they were in the world, as long as they had a connection to the UniNet, of course.
The miner and Kael hopped into a car, with Bach taking the steering wheel.
"Donโt mind my car, itโs a bit dirty. I havenโt had the time to clean this piece of garbage," Bach said, using his fingerprint to start the vehicle.
The minerโs car had been with him for many years, and some might even say it was a classic. It resembled a Mustangโbut more futuristic. Like a futuristic garbage truck.
Kael had seen plenty of cars like this before, which meant it was a common vehicle.
"I bought this from a friend, with my meager miner salary. So itโs very important to me," Bach said as the vehicle started moving.
"As long as it serves its purpose," Kael replied, not minding the dirt on his back.
"Haha, right," Bach chuckled. "Is it alright if we stop by my house before heading to the mine?"
"Iโll follow your arrangements," Kael nodded. Truthfully, he was also curious to see the look on the minerโs daughterโs faceโspecifically, how she would look at him now that they had a deal.
A deal Kael had been looking forward to, aside from wanting to see the mine where he was found.
As the vehicle entered the highway, the scenery outside became a blur, and Kael leaned back, watching the buildings fly past him.
...
Milan Ponce had been waiting for news about her father, but even after hours passed, no one called the circular device she held tightly in her hand.
She looked out the window and saw the sun beginning to set.
Milan bit her finger, her foot tapping restlessly against the floor. "Please... be okay..."
She decided to wait a few more minutes before calling her uncle. But her hand was already tapping the circular deviceโand soon, a ringing sound echoed before a rough voice answered.
"Unclโ" Milan couldnโt finish her words, because the next second, her uncleโs excited voice cut in.
"Oh Milan! I was just about to call you! Great news!"
Milanโs heart skipped a beat. Then a smile bloomed across her face. "Heโs alright?"
"Heโs doing great! I heard a Primer managed to find him. They even fought off some huge monsters just to get out! D*mn, I wish I could go and hear his story firsthand. Heโs gonna be so smug about this!"
"Thank you, Uncle," Milan smiled.
They continued talking for a while longer before ending the call.
Milan collapsed onto the sofa as the stress sheโd been holding onto finally melted away. And as her uncleโs words echoed in her mind, only now did she remember her deal with the man who called himself Kael Draven.
"Did he...?" Milan muttered before shaking her head. "It should be impossible. Thereโs no way he actually pulled it off. Heโs just a normal person."
One of the reasons she made that deal in the first place was because she didnโt believe Kael would be able to save her father. But if he could... then she would have to follow through.
"Itโs not like I made that deal hoping heโd fail," Milan said with a bitter smile.
She headed upstairs to check on her daughter, then returned to the living room to wait for her father.
Milan knew her father well. If something like this happenedโif his life had been in dangerโhe would come rushing to her just to say that everything was okay.
Heโd been doing that ever since she was a child. Well, it just meant that Bach had been through a lot of life-and-death situations.
Thinking about it, Milan couldnโt help but chuckle.
She didnโt have to wait long before someone knocked on the door.
Her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly ran toward it. "Coming!" she shouted, her hand already on the doorknob. But the moment she opened it, her excited expression frozeโthen turned ice cold.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice emotionless, with a sharp hint of threat.
"To say hello to my wife and daughter," a manโs voice echoed. It sounded sweetโbut Milan knew better than to believe his tone or smile.
"You donโt have a wife anymore. And my daughter is my daughter," Milan said coldly, slowly closing the door. "Iโll only say this onceโf*ck off and never show your face to my family again."
He wore an oversized blue tuxedo, hair stiff with gel, hawk-like eyes, and sunken cheeks. He stood at least six feet tall. Though somewhere between skinny and average, his height made him look imposing.
At first, there was an amiable smile on his face. But after hearing Milanโs words, that smile disappearedโreplaced by a cold glare and a smirk full of mockery.
The man raised his hand, stopping the door from closing.
"You know, Milan... if you didnโt have something I want, I wouldโve left you long ago. Well, not until I was done with your body, of course. Come to think of it, I bet you miss being pounded by me. Why donโt we go upstairs and talk while you scream my name?" he said, his lecherous eyes scanning Milan from head to toe as he licked his lips.
"Youโre disgusting!" Milan spat in his face and shoved the door hard.
But no matter how hard she pushed, it didnโt budge. It was like trying to move a wall. Unmovable. Milan gritted her teeth, glaring at her ex-husband.
The man raised his other hand and wiped the spit off his face. He stared at it for a secondโthen licked it.
"Iโll never get tired of your fluids, Milan. But youโre being disrespectful. And you know what I do to people who disrespect me?"
As his voice turned colder, Milan couldnโt help but recall the pastโwhen they were still together. Every time Kevin got angry, he used his fists. He beat her so badly once that she nearly lost her life. It made her realize that blindly loving someone was just another form of suicide. So, she leftโwith her daughter.
"Kevin... donโt do this. If you dare, Iโll make sure you suffer more than death! Iโve had enough of you!" Milan shouted, her hands clutching the doorway so tightly her knuckles turned white. Even though she knew she couldnโt match the strength of a Level Five Primer who had boosted himself with stat points, she still tried with everything she had to hold the door.
She knew exactly what would happen if he got inside. She would sufferโjust like before.
"This isnโt fair, Milan..." Kevin glared, his oppressive aura making the space feel suffocating. "Youโve had enough of me? Thatโs not fair. Not fair. I guess youโll just have to learn the hard way."
With those words, he pushed the door openโhard. It slammed open, and Milan was thrown backward, falling onto the floor.
"Argh..." Milan grunted in pain, but she was given no time to gather her thoughts as a hand yanked her up by the hair.
"Milan... you are mine. And everything thatโs yours is mine. Say... why donโt you just shut up and do whatever I want?" Kevin said, staring straight into her eyes.
"The... only thing thatโs yours... is your small d*ck!" Milan spat, then slapped him hard. The sound of her palm crashing against Kevinโs cheek echoed through the room.
Kevinโs head turned slightly from the impact, but he didnโt stumble. He simply stared at Milan with cold, burning eyes. He didnโt say a wordโbut the pulsing veins on his forehead and the sound of his teeth grinding said everything.
As they locked eyes in a silent standoff, a babyโs cry echoed from upstairs.
Kevin took a deep breath, trying to calm his raging heart. "I really wanted to beat you until you realize that Iโm someone you canโt just get rid of. But thereโs something else I want, too."
"F*ck you..." Milan cursed, struggling to push him away. "Youโll never get it! I wonโt let your filthy hands touch it!"
"Oh, my love, thatโs not for you to decide," Kevin smirked. "I heard what happened. Heโs dead, right? Tsk... what a shame. You must be devastated. He was a good father-in-law, raising such a beautiful daughter. With your body, I bet your mother was the same."
"Donโt bring my mother into this..." Milan growled, glaring at her ex-husband like she was ready to tear him apart. "Her Suit is not something a coward like you could ever have. Youโre a piece of sh*t who feels proud over scraps of strength. Youโre nothing. Nothing!"
"You! Iโll kill you!" Kevin finally snapped. He raised his hand, balling it into a fist. Wife or not, the fury inside him refused to dieโnot until he got what he came for.
With a roar, he pulled his fist back and hurled it straight at her face!
Milanโs eyes widened. And in that instant, the image of her daughter living alone in this cruel worldโfull of monsters like her husbandโmade her heart shatter. Tears streamed down her face as fear flooded her chest.
But thenโ
A sharp, metallic bang rang out.
Milan collapsed to the floor.
And Kevin screamed in pain.
