Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 46: First Incident (10)
BOOM!
The blade of the battle axe struck the
Cobblestone road, shattering the road as debris flew into the air.
Dust from the road spread outward in air.
Petrick was able to dodge the strike.
He sidestepped instantly before the attack could land on him. Just then, a big hammer came toward Petrick.
His dagger met against the flat side of the war hammer.
CLANG!
It was Regnar, who was now using a hammer to fight.
"Arhh! Fuck this weak body!" Petrick said in annoyance.
"So you are the one behind all of this!" Regnar said in rage. He was really angry about everything that had happened.
Petrick didn’t reply. Instead, he moved forward and clashed directly with Regnar.
CLANG!
CLANG!
CLANG!
The hammer and daggers collided again and again. Sparks flew every time the weapons met.
Regnar suddenly opened his left palm. While he kept hammer in right. A gray color magic circle appeared in front of him. And a strange vibration spread through the air.
[Sound Burst]
A visible ripple formed in the air and shot toward Petrick. The sound wave exploded near him, forcing Petrick to jump back and cover his ears for a brief moment.
But before Petrick could recover, Draven arrived from the side.
His battle axe swung horizontally toward Petrick’s waist.
Petrick bent backward and avoided the blade by inches, then spun and kicked Draven in the side. Draven slid a few steps back but quickly regained his balance.
Now both Draven and Regnar stood side by side.
Regnar tightened his grip on his hammer, while Draven lifted his battle axe and mana began to swirl around the blade. Wind started gathering around his axe, spinning like a small storm.
The wind wrapped around the axe blade, making it sharper and faster.
Both of them attacked at the same time. Regnar swung his hammer downward, while Draven slashed diagonally from the side.
Petrick moved quickly, blocking Regnar’s hammer with one dagger and deflecting Draven’s axe with the other.
CLANG!
CLANG!
Despite fighting two people at once, Petrick was still smiling.
Petrick’s body was being used by someone else. Petrick himself was low level, and the real enemy who was controlling him couldn’t use his own full power or high-level magic spells. All he could rely on was combat experience and skill.
Yet he was handling both young men, Draven and Regnar, very well.
Regnar swung his hammer again, covered with dense mana. It hit heavily against his dagger.
The impact of the attack forced Petrick to step back, but at that same moment Draven appeared behind him and swung his axe vertically.
Wind howled around the blade as it came down.
Petrick rolled forward on the ground, barely avoiding the axe, then kicked Regnar’s knee from below, forcing him to lose balance for a moment. He then threw a quick slash at Draven, cutting his sleeve slightly before jumping back to create distance.
The three of them stood facing each other now.
Meanwhile, Noah watched from some distance, leaning his back against a wall.
His breathing was heavy. His body was covered in cuts and blood.
He slowly took out a mana recovery potion and a healing potion.
He drank the mana recovery potion first, then the healing potion.
Warmth started to fill inside his body.
The core which had felt empty slowly started to fill with mana again.
His expression calmed down as he watched the battle.
The cuts on his body started to mend and heal. The cut on his chest also started to heal, but very slowly since it was big, and the injury on his shoulder was also healing very slowly.
It wouldn’t heal fully since it was a low-level potion.
Noah watched the battle calmly.
Boom!
While he could hear the sound of fighting, it was not in front of him, but somewhere farther away.
The monster Damien and the others were fighting was really strong. Its endurance, in particular, seemed extremely high.
Noah had already done what he wanted to do. He could have simply hidden in some corner of this place, or inside any building, just like many students who were still hiding in different places.
But he didn’t do that. The reason was simple. He wanted to get involved in this incident so he could contribute and receive a nice reward from his broken system... or whatever that thing was.
’...I even fought against the main villain of this arc... or scenario. Whatever it is... now I can just wait for Damien to kill him, and I might get a better reward.’
He exhaled slowly. Many innocent students had died. He had even seen one get killed right in front of him.
Yet... he was somehow handling it well. Maybe it was because such things were normal in this world, and the previous Noah didn’t feel much about it... or maybe the current Noah just had something wrong with his head. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
But it didn’t matter. All that mattered was his survival. He continued watching the battle.
Despite Regnar and Draven both fighting together, Petrick was keeping up with them without much problem.
Just then, a huge light came from the direction where Damien and the others were fighting the huge monster behind the buildings.
It brightened the sky.
Noah covered his eyes from the bright light.
Even Petrick and the other two stopped fighting momentarily and looked in that direction.
Soon, a high-pitched loud scream of a monster came from that place. It sounded painful.
SCREEEECHHHHH!!
Then a huge explosion came from there.
BOOOM!
It sent a hot shockwave through the air.
Dust, light, and wind spread everywhere. No one could see what was happening there.
Thud.
Something heavy fell on the ground somewhere away.
Noah thought the battle between Damien and the monster had ended. He sighed in relief, thinking Damien would soon come here.
’ ..it’s finally ended.’
But suddenly.
Petrick put the dagger in his left hand into his waist band and then pulled out something from his storage ring.
It was a pyramid-shaped brown metal object with some runes carved on it.
It started to gleam.
Both Draven and Regnar became tense and got ready to defend themselves, expecting some kind of attack from the object.
But nothing happened. The object stopped shining.
Petrick then crushed the object with his hand and threw it aside. It was looked liked some machine from inside.
Then he raised both daggers again and got ready to fight, a wide smile appearing on his face.
Noah narrowed his eyes.
’Something is not right ..’
