Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 108: Wolf Ancestry
Chapter 108: Wolf Ancestry
As he was deliberating the classifications of supernatural creatures and roaming through the beast forest searching for the trails of various creatures, he finally found a trace of something notable. He followed that trail with newfound excitement.
Eventually, after going far off from the entry point, when he entered, from a distance, he sighted a bunch of tier 1 monsters. To his luck, there were 5 of them. Not only that, they seem awfully familiar to him. They looked like the very wolf that his butler Vargas had hunted to show the power of a Seeker to him back then. They were extremely strong physically. But an involuntary smile appeared on Axel’s face. While he did get the chance to fight a few times, he couldn’t let loose on any of those fights.
For a constant worry, he always had to hold back his true battle prowess as a Runic Swordsman, let alone the power of his second aspect. But now he could finally let loose a bit. An excited grin appeared on his face at the thought of being able to kill again. Unfortunately, he did not realize how he was slowly becoming bloodthirsty underneath because of the effects of his 2nd aspect. Otherwise, he would have frowned.
But he was too excited as a dark grin formed on his face, for him to do self-analysis. Axel narrowed his eyes and surveyed the surroundings, sensing no other monsters or beasts around. Just as he was about to release his killing intent, he stopped himself. The beasts might just surrender themselves if he releases his bloodlust properly.
He would rather not have that, if he couldn’t even flex his sword properly, now that would put him in a really, really sour mood. Holding his sword in his hand, he slowly walked forward without making any noise. He concealed his energy as well, so that the beasts would even think of him as weak. All 5 of the beasts seemed to have the same wavelength of strength as far as he could tell.
The wolves were as tall as him in height, and quite long and large in length. If he were to compare, they were almost the size of a hippopotamus. Any man on earth would be utterly horrified to look at such large-looking wolves. But that only made him more excited.
He walked towards them calmly without hiding himself, pure confidence oozing out of his every pore. As his figure was revealed from the bushes, and the wolves who were eating another hunted beast together sniffed the air and smelled a foreign existence, they instantly turned towards him.
They had white and gray fur mixed together. All wolf type of monsters were said to be degrative states of the werewolves after countless generations, as the werewolves went extinct, and some managed to survive, as time passed by and they lived in the wilderness generation after generation, without getting in touch with the developed parts of the society, they lost their ability to turn back into humanoid. Thus becoming wolf monsters forever.
Of course, that was all but speculations, no one knows the truth. He ended his internal deliberation about the origin of all the wolf-type species and looked towards all 5 of the monsters. Who all glared at him for disturbing their mealtime, surprisingly, they did not attack him immediately. They all observed him intently while showing their teeth. Axel only smiled seeing that and rushed forward with his sword.
On that cue, all the wolves howled in anger as they ran forward towards him like rabid dogs.
Multiple claws targeted Axel’s small body in different sections, wishing to tear his fleshly body apart. Axel’s smile widened involuntarily, his deep blue eyes took on a shinier hue as he slashed upwards at their claws. A deep cut appeared on the claw of the wolf that attacked him first.
Axel sent a flurry of slashes towards them, targeting their feet mainly, wanting to sever them with one slash. But he was unable to do so since he had to fend off multiple attacks at once. So, the full caliber of his strength did not go into one strong slash. But he snickered, it’s not like he used his full strength either.
Axel activated his mana within his nexus core, as the mana started flowing through his body, and the special magic circuit unique only to him empowered him physically. One of the key differences he had with other Runecasters was that they were physically weak. When the runecaster aspect was active, and it was very much right, for it being a utility and support type suspect, mainly responsible for weapon creation.
But his magic circuit and Runic swordsmen skill made him the most unique runecaster who was strangely suited for combat, and to a very high degree as well. His gaseous mana worked as a fuel for the sword, as its sharpness and power increased dramatically. Axel started maneuvering his sword masterfully again as hungry maws of the wolves threatened to bite into his flesh, swallow him as a delicious meal. Their claws always tried to target vital points. He dodged the deadly blows and made counterattacks at the perfect opportunities.
But the beasts were quite intelligent as well, as they realized how dangerous their opponent was; instead of the wild attacks they threw in first, now they were more reserved and careful. A glint of intelligence flashed through their eyes, but none of the wolves were uninjured from that exchange of blows. Axel himself received quite a few sharp scratches, and blood dripped from those places. And the beasts seem to be strangely attracted to his blood.
He frowned at that sight. Could the beasts smell his demon blood? No, that shouldn’t be the case. His demon blood should be dormant while the chaosblood aspect is not active. He should look into it later on. But most likely not. Ivor also bled many times, but never got caught for it. There was never anything strange about his blood. Maybe if the Valkyrie or the 4th prince personally examined his blood, but even then, they wouldn’t be able to pinpoint what was wrong. Not to mention, his demon bloodline was too thin at the moment to be anything significant.
The beasts wanted to back off from that confrontation, but he would hardly let that happen as he reengaged in the fight with even greater fervor.
