Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 135: The Significance of ‘Three’
Chapter 135: The Significance of ‘Three’
"Well, we all know that there are 4 levels of runic language," stated Axel.
[1] The 24 Basic Runes
[2] The 12 Extended Runes
[3] The 6 Advanced Runes
[4] The 3 Absolute Runes
"From what I know, humanity only has the 1st and 2nd level of runic languages, The elves likely have the third level of runes. As for the 4th level, most runic sorcerers believe those 3 may not even exist. No runecaster has even fully mastered the 3rd level of the runic language, at least no human, as of yet."
Axel remarked internally, ’Maybe, not even his grandfather, maybe not yet, considering if the old man is alive, I suppose.’
"Even though we do not know what those three runes may be, I have heard some things about them. The trial world in which I was placed had a moderately developed magical society in it, at least the supernatural part of the world that is."
"The place where I studied runic sorcery was also very advanced and dedicated to the research of runic studies. Many powerful runecasters in that place speculated that all the runic languages from lower to higher levels of symbols start to coalesce into one of the 3 absolute runes."
"The reason being runic symbol numbers on each level are divisible by three, and that the number of runes needed to master by an individual is also one-third of each of the runic languages. Also, why was it that all the complete runes can be fragmented into exactly 3, not more, not less?"
He gave a pause, for everyone to take in this bit of information first, and everyone had a serious expression on their faces, even the professor himself. The professor thought to himself for a moment and asked,
"How do you know, or did they know that this number 3, which is correlated to almost everything in runic sorcery, is because of the 3 absolute runes and not the 3 sublevels of each phase? The initial, mid, and late stages of each Seeker Phase, which is also an important indication of the number three."
Axel nodded, acknowledging the question as something that he obviously expected.
"I know, I have read some research books on runic sorcery which talked about that, relating the number 3 of runic sorcery to the three minor stages. But it is most likely wrong."
"Because the trial world in which I was, there weren’t three minor stages, but only two. So, they researched for countless ages and found that the plausible clue to it is most likely the 3 absolute runes. They also made speculations about what each of the three absolute runes represented."
"And the runic sorcerers of that world surmised that, each of the three absolute runes govern a certain part of reality and all the three together made the whole universe, the 3 absolute runes were most likely each a pillar of the universe itself, though it was doubtful, since there were no actual proof to it, but only speculative theories which had high probability of being true. That is all."
The professor’s eyebrows twitched in marvel at the theories which his student presented him with, yes Axel himself was truthful on saying the hypothetical theories were made by the runic sorcerers of the trial, but it had to be noted that those kind of research theories must have been highly confidential, something you will never be able to access unless you are a direct disciple of one of the powerful authorities of the organization of runic sorcerers. He could only wonder how great Axel’s achievements were as a runecaster.
He sighed internally to himself, the nomrad family are truly overflowing with talents, his grandfather is a monstrous runecaster on his own right, then his father was also one of the most talented Alchemists though its a pity what happened to him, and now this boy is also showing utterly baffling level of talent in runic sorcery rarely seen before.
Axel continued in a bated breath and revealed the most crucial information that they wanted to know, "One indicates to Existence, the other to Non-Existence, the remainder indicates to Eternity, a cycle of endlessness between these two. Repeating between existence and non-existence."
A pin drop silence occurred in the classroom, everyone had an incomparably serious expression on their faces, especially Professor Alfred. Lumina could not help but ask aloud in confusion, and all of Axel’s fellow runecasters shared her feeling of confusion,
"I don’t understand? What do those mean?"
Another runecaster chimed in with a question, more specific, and it was Taser Vex.
"What things identify as Non-existence and what identifies as eternity?"
The professor also looked up at that question, stared at Axel, but the latter also looked at his teacher and did not answer immediately, almost as if he was waiting for the Professor to answer the questions instead, Alfred frowned. While Lumina saw that silent exchange, and alternated her gaze between the two of them, she shook her head in amusement and thought internally,
’Why does it feel like Axel is the teacher here and Professor Alfred is the student?’
She tactfully did not say it aloud or whisper it to anyone since someone as powerful as Alfred could easily pick up any whispering or sounds that cannot be heard by normal human ears. Professor Alfred lingered for a bit, then eventually revealed his guess,
"Existence likely refers to the material plane, non-existence basically refers to Dreams and other immaterial realities, maybe even the void world."
"As for the cycle of eternity, I’m afraid I don’t understand; you must explain that to me yourself."
Axel nodded at the professor, he looked around at everyone, his gaze landed on Taser Vex, but the latter seemed uncomfortable by his stare, as he avoided his gaze a little bit, and as expected, since Axel was looking at Taser. Everyone else was also looking at him, Axel simply redirected the question of the professor to Taser.
"Taser, I wonder if you have any idea about the professor’s question? What do you think? You don’t have to hesitate, any idea is open."
Taser internally gritted his teeth and cursed, ’This bastard was definitely intending to humiliate him? But why? I always acted friendly towards him and never showed any negative intent. Would I ask the fucking questions if I knew goddamn answer?’
While he was furious internally, he did not show the slightest sign of it on his face. He seemed to hesitate for a moment and eventually said, "I’m sorry, but I cannot really think of anything that persists between the material plane and the immaterial plane, which is why I asked the question in the first place."
Feeling all the gazes upon him, he became more furious at the bastard for deliberately putting him in such a situation, he swore in his heart that he would definitely repay the wretched bastard 10 times or even 100 times the humiliation when the time is right.
Axel nodded towards Taser with a smile upon hearing he could not think of anything, and he himself answered with a helpless tone.
"Actually, I myself do not know, in the trial world, I was unable to get any information on that particular note. No matter who I asked, those powerful runecasters who might have some guesses would never answer me."
"They would only say that I was unqualified to know of such things; in truth, getting my hands on such information itself was a miracle," added Axel, indicating he had no answer to give on this subject.
Most of his peers looked at him suspiciously, almost sure he was not letting on the full truth. Professor Alfred, in particular, was struggling within himself heavily; it was obvious the boy knew far more than he was letting on. So, what should he do? He really was too curious to simply let the matter drop just like that?
