Chapter 92: Political Landscape

"Yes, Mr. Heinz, please ask away," stated Professor Regina.

"With all due respect, why does it almost seem like you’re glad that this western section of the continent, to be specific, the land we humans inhabit, is so low in energy density?"

"And there is such a large gap between those 7 races and us?" asked Heinz skeptically.

An awkward silence reverberated through the air. The moment Heinz asked this question and that is because everyone also had that same question in mind. Seeing how the professor excitedly talked about how weak and pathetic the human race is compared to the 7 ruling races.

She eventually said with a visible sigh, "That is because, if this place that we do inhabit now were really so valuable, we would have long been wiped out. And if the humans were also strong enough to contest against any of those 7 races, we would still be wiped out."

"Because we also have our unique advantage. Face it, we reproduce like crazy, we are like cockroaches, we survive no matter what, we adapt no matter what. Our survivability may even be greater than the demons if you add our racial reproduction speed."

"In fact, many of our oldest historians and archeologists believe, we have been wiped out many, many times. But some of us always survive, and then it rarely takes time for us to become a significant population again."

"Do you think there were only 7 ruling races in Eldarion from the start? Oh no, there were many more. Vampires, Dwarfs, Goblins, Giants, Gnomes, Fae Folks, Werewolf, Centaurs, Merfolk, the ghost race used to run rampant though the continent, but now they confined within the boundary of the Ghost Island, and maybe countless more, all were wiped out by the struggles of power, lost in history. Every single one of them was stronger than humans, yet look at us? We still live on."

"The biggest reason why we can last for more than 10,000 years without going through another slaughter is because of her," stated Professor Regina while pointing her finger at the Valkyrie, who tilted her head cutely, but her expression did not change.

Everyone also gave the professor a confused look, prompting her to explain further.

"Well, I mean her predecessors. She, being an otherworlder, is far, far more talented as a human than what we are as beings of this continent, it is also largely because the world WILL of Eldarion simply views us as lesser beings, but that’s beside the point."

"She is probably the only human in existence who can fight even a demon or maybe a dragon to a standstill while being on the same power level. And that’s a very big deal. Now, what I mean by we are not being slaughtered because of the previous Valkyries is that, throughout every generation, every Valkyrie becomes by far the strongest human; she becomes a deterrent against the other races, thus ensuring the safety of humanity."

"Now, the keyword ’Deterrent’ here is important, because while Valkyries each become extremely powerful when reaching a certain level of power, in the end, she is only one human able to achieve that, so Valkyries are not a threat in the eyes of the other races. Rather like a problem they would avoid, or maybe they don’t care that much at this point."

"So, for all those reasons together, I am happy to talk about the disparity in strength between us and the other races, because of this status quo, we will not be faced with the possible threat of extinction."

"And Ms. Evercrest I really do not mean anything bad by my comments, in case you misunderstood, if you feel bad by any of my statements, I sincerely apologize, you are the very person who will keep all the humans alive for the next 100 or 1000 of years, all the humans can only ever be grateful towards you." stated Professor Regina while looking towards the Valkyrie with utmost respect and reverence.

Everyone’s gazes turned towards the Valkyrie changed at that piece of revelation. But her expression did not change, but from what Axel could tell, she was extremely displeased. He would be displeased as well, if he were in her position, he would feel the same.

Thankfully, the professor understood the cue and moved on to the next topic.

"Okay, now let’s talk about the political situation of the continent."

"First of all, Demons are unanimously regarded as the nemesis of all the races. Among the 7 ruling races, except for the ghost island, all 6 races are constantly a war with demons. Most of the time, it is just some minor skirmishes on their borders. while other times the war reaches a very high intensity."

"Then just think about how disgustingly strong the Demon Empire has to be for being able to sustain war against all the other races at once and still not lose."

"The strongest deterrent against the demons is obviously the Dragon Empire. They stand alone in their fight against the demons as they are the most prideful beings on the continent."

"While the Orc and Ogre Tribes together form the Warmonger Alliance and hold their fort on the Southern front. While the Venus Empire and the Elven Empire together create the Verdant Alliance, fighting on the Northern Front of the continent."

"These two alliances together form a dividing barrier right in the middle of the continent, not willing to let a single demon pass. Unfortunately, there is also great conflict between the Verdant Alliance, Warmonger Alliance, and the Dragon Empire."

"If they were united and co-operative with each other, they could have made a big dent on the Demon Empires’ unrivaled rule."

"Now, as for the reasons why we were never invaded by demons or do not have to worry about them is again because we are not a worthy or valuable target in the eyes of the demons."

"But all of this information that I said is not our own; rather, it was received from a high-elf, and this information is almost 300 years old. Since we cannot get such comprehensive information about the continent on our own, no human can. So, the current situation of the continent is in fact unknown."

"But we do know this, that for the last 300-400 years, the demon race did not have any major war with the other races, likely because of the disappearance of the Demon Emperor. So, the leadership of the Demon Empire has become messy and divided between multiple powerful individuals of the demon race."

The professor took a pause for a moment as if thinking about what to say next, or maybe she was just taking a minute of break for herself. So, all the students simply waited in silence, waiting for her to continue.

Next, she eventually brought out the topic of half-bloods, mixing human bloodline with other races, thus increasing our innate potential through that method. She explained it had already been tried before long in the past, and the other races take this attempt very badly.

It was written in historical records that upon discovering that there was an Elf half blood officially being supported by the human authorities. The elves slaughtered every single human in just one night. Yes, almost the entirety of humans were slaughtered in one night. Because they absolutely abhorred the idea of mixing their superior bloodline with the lowly ones as mere humans. Of course, that happened too long ago, yet the three kings take this matter very seriously.

Which is why you would normally never see any hybrid within any of the Human Kingdoms.

"So, Mr. Heinz, does that answer your question?"

"Yes, professor," he answered.

"Now, my dear students, what have we learned today, the ruling 7 races and approximately how much land they control, the political and power balance within them. And how pitifully weak the human race is."

"Of course, apart from the 7 ruling races, there are many more races inhabiting various danger zones, forests. The countless species of beasts, plants, and vegetation, parasites, viruses, and many more. But the 7 ruling races are intelligent, sociable, and humanoid."

"So, if we form a proper hierarchy among all of them, it would be like this."

[1] Demons

[2] Dragons

[3] Elves

[4] Serpentine / Snake kin

[5] Orcs

[6] Ogres

[7] Ghost Race

She further explained that demons are only at the top because of the almost inexhaustible number of low level demons. But in terms of individual power, Dragons would be the strongest, yet the dragons were the smallest in number. Even so, it is said that if the dragons go all out they could almost match the prowess of the endless number of demons.

As for Elves, Serpentine, Orcs, and Ogres, they are all similar in strength. And the reason Ghost race is at the lowest is because, apparently, their information is the least known, for them being isolated on a literal death island. Only the water was stopping the endless number of undying soldiers from descending upon the continent and wreaking havoc without caring about anything but their own. And the Ghost Emperor Jack Sparrow was an unreasonable bastard, according to the words of the elf.

The entire class had eyes wide open, jaw drop at all those revelations, while many of them knew that the humans were quite weak compared to many other races in the continent, but never could have guessed that the situation was actually this bad for humans. And the other races were so much overpowered.

It went exactly as Professor Regina expected, the class name was continental geography but they only got to know how pathetically weak the human race was, and how dire their situation was. The Valkyrie already knew many of these information, but the 4th prince had a shocked look on his face. It seems he apparently did not know the total extent of this.
