Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 98: Your Obsession???
Chapter 98: Your Obsession???
With a sigh, he entered it. The Sanctum apparently understood his intentions and opened the main gateway directly to his Chaosblood aspect chamber. Considering the view inside, it could hardly be called a chamber. He looked around, and the demon wasn’t here.
But another thought crept into his mind, which is why?
The Phasebound Sanctum, or Soul Sanctum, some call it, is supposed to be a representation of one’s true self, and the aspect chambers as well; it is not just the symbolic representation of one’s aspect. The very proof is that everyone’s aspect chambers’ view is different, even those with the same aspects. So, this land of slaughter, its not simply the result of the demon bloodlines desire for slaughter, chaos and destruction.
So, what did it represent for him? Was he perhaps a slaughterer in his heart, a killer, a murderer? What was he? What was the reason for his transmigration? The reason for his existence within the Eldarion continent?
His title and skill related to the runecaster aspect all made sense, but why was his title ’Demon of Obsession’? Just what did its vague description mean? That his power boost increases the more actions align towards getting what he obsesses over. Well, in a way, he was indeed obsessed with curing Akon, keeping the promise to his mother inside the trial. But was that all?
His mind was heavily manipulated at that time by Prime Nexus. As if I had truly become Ashborn. Which is why the notifications shown by Prime Nexus after Akon had died were about Axel regaining his self-awareness, which by default allowed him to reconnect to the demon bloodline, something which he wasn’t able to sense from the very beginning of the Trial.
"No, your obsession does not come from what you went through in the trial," spoke the demon from Axel’s side as he was gazing at the red skies and ashen clouds all over it.
Axel wasn’t as surprised as he was last time, he looked at the demon or "His Sin" by the words of it, which looked similar to the hideous demonic form when Ivor had transformed back then, but it was likely what he looked like, right after eating Ivor’s heart, and then transforming into it.
The Demon chuckled and said, "You can call me SIN."
Even its voice was to an extent unnerving, "Heh, do you like to play cool or something by appearing out of nowhere?"
"And what is the sin of? The SIN of trying to act cool?" remarked Axel mercilessly.
SIN comically stammered for a moment, then looked at him with its dead eyes with a blank look. Axel could swear the thing would have coughed up a mouthful of blood if it were able to. He clicked his tongue in disappointment.
Then spoke with a serious undertone, "So, what is my obsession?"
SIN laughed sinisterly, then said, "Oh, it’s something more deep, something more old, something you had from the very start, but also childish in a way."
"An obsession you had from back on earth," added Sin darkly.
A rattling frown appeared on Axel’s face as a sense of alertness crept up on him. He looked at sin with much more wariness than before. Sin shook his head and stated,
"Oh, please, I am you, a part of you. So, why would I not know about our past?"
Axel added in a serious tone, peering straight into its abyss-like eyes,
"That doesn’t make you less suspicious, no reflection on anyone’s Sanctum has this level of self-awareness, it’s something that should not even be possible."
"Perhaps, but like I said, there is a difference. I am not your heart demon, unlike what you think, Tyler Cross, I am your SIN, there is a difference."
"Enough about that, you asked what your obsession is, right? Come," Sin started walking in an uphill direction far in the distance.
It walked for a while, but the distance was extremely great, so it started running and ran faster and faster, and so did Axel. He kept up with that speed moderately well. But still fell behind a bit eventually. After an unknown amount of time, they reached the uphill section, Axel had a horrified expression on his face as he went down on his knees. All the time, they were running the entire place over miles and miles and miles were all filled with dead bodies, and the same blood river flowed from the sidelines, just how long was it?.
Now, looking from the uphill section, countless more miles were also filled with dead bodies. The dead bodies from what he saw should number in multiple millions. No, this...this can’t be...there is no way he holds such immense, dark nature in his heart. That was not possible. But his attention soon went to something else. There was something, something extremely far away, many, many such uphill sections of land afterward.
A blurry but dense Scarlet red light hovered in the sky, it wasn’t too high in the sky, it did not look like something unreachable, but just extremely far away, for now, it simply looked like a chunk of Scarlet light. But the more he looked at it, the more he felt his mind seeping away. A strange desire rose in his heart, he, he, he needed to get that.
He must get that thing no matter what; he involuntarily got up from his knees, ignoring all the dead bodies around his feet, or all over the place. He started walking towards it, without even moving his eyes away from it, in the slightest.
But something stopped him, a large demonic hand landed on his shoulder, as it stopped him from going forward. But his eyes did not move away from the Scarlet light, and he violently shook his shoulders, but the hand held on to him. Axel shouted,
"Let go of me..."
"LET ME GO, DDAMN IT, LET ME GO......."
"I MUST GET THAT, I NEED TO GET THAT NO MATTER WHAT....."
The grip of the hand only became stronger as it literally broke his collar bones, but Axel’s mind failed to register that. The hand flung him backward away from the Scarlet light. His shoulder was injured, for a second he looked at SIN with immense hatred, but his eyes again fixated on that beautiful and breathtaking scarlet light.
Getting up again, he started walking towards it, ignoring Sin entirely.
Sin spoke, dark amusement tinged in its voice,
"That is your obsession, and to know what it is, you have to get past me first."
The words barely went in Axel’s ears, but he ignored them completely. He simply walked towards the Scarlet radiance. Sin punched him in the face, kicked him in the gut, and with every single attack he received, he was being flung away, injuries kept piling up non-stop. But he didn’t care, his mind even failed to register those attacks or the daunting figure of sin.
It came to a point where he wasn’t able to walk anymore. He was crawling on four limbs, but his eyes remained fixed at that one point, even when every single bone in his body was broken, even when it became physically impossible for him to crawl anymore, he struggled madly just to get an inch closer to that scarlet radiance.
Sin continued to laugh like a madman, seeing him struggle like that. Sin picked his almost broken body up by grabbing his neck and whispered,
"While it was fun seeing you in a state like this, I hope you don’t make it so damn boring the next time. Hunting a prey that doesn’t exactly struggle is not a very...satisfying feeling."
Right after that, Sin pierced through his chest, his large demonic hand making a giant hole. It was only then did Axel’s gaze moved away from the scarlet radiance, and a tinge of fear seeped into his being. Blood rushed out of Axel’s mouth, nose, and eyes as he looked at Sin with blazing hatred. But Sin only smiled seeing that gesture, and right next his vision turned dark.
His eyes shot open in an abrupt manner, Axel instantly vomited blood, his vision blurry as blood gathered in his eyes and even rushed out of his nose. He felt unable to breathe. He punched himself in the chest and more blood came out, and finally, finally, he was able to breathe again.
With trembling hands and feet, he barely got up. Walking while holding the walls, he reached a certain room in his apartment, where some emergency potions were stored, given by the academy just in case. He gulped down potions one after another. After drinking 5 potions, he finally became stable as the injuries inside and outside of his body seemed to be healing, and the process hurt extremely badly, but he endured without too much difficulty for that part.
He gritted his teeth and thought back to what happened. A sense of terror invaded his mind just thinking about it. The moment his eyes landed on that damn scarlet light hanging in the sky, the moment his eyes met with It. He.....he......
