Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 239: More monster
It had come to Hilda’s attention that they needed to fight more of these monsters in the future. Leon charged in with his frozen weapon, making it hard not to hit the guy in the back with a knife.
The maid was a bit surprised since the guy would always cower in the back despite having an offensive mystic power that could turn anything into a weapon. It would be wise for him to train more like a warrior.
Theia stayed back and watched the situation, ready to act if Leon failed. Her power could only be used in short bursts if she wanted to stay awake. It would be wise to help him at the last second.
Hilda, on the other hand, was observing Leon. Her job was to help them eliminate these foul beasts, but she let Leon deal with it to increase his experience. He had fought and won against these deer before, but a little more fighting wouldn’t hurt.
If he got cornered, then she would step in.
However, while she was watching the confrontation, the sound of screaming came from elsewhere. It sounded just like here, the voices panicked and shaky. There were probably more of the monsters appearing in the village.
----------------
Despite their large number of mystics, their forces were stretched thin. From clearing out wild beasts from the usual hunting spots to defending the border, the elite force of Frostfang was juggling many battles on many fronts.
Egul had his hands full after the commotion broke out. When he checked, there was a horde of deer outside, pouring into the village. Their only defense was the sturdy wooden wall that had been built many generations ago with thick, top-quality wood. However, today it felt as fragile as a thin paper in front of the horde of malformed deer.
There were two entrances to the main village, each covered by one of the leaders of Frostfang. Others were still out on missions—some leading people at the border, and others leading parties to exterminate these beasts.
The fight was fierce, and the deer pouring in were no match for the destructive power of the fifth Circles. They were easily killed when within range of Egul’s punches. However, a few slipped through and entered the village.
Egul wanted to help the other villagers, but he couldn’t abandon his post. Leaving his position would only worsen the tribe’s situation. So he could only hope that the mystics under his command, as well as Hilda, were doing a good job of eliminating them.
Aside from the mystics, normal people also lived here—ordinary villagers. He would prefer if they suffered no casualties after this incident, but that was just wishful thinking. He then refocused on culling the horde of deer still trying to pour into the village.
-------
Hilda sensed that no one was helping with the deer that had just gotten in. She glanced at the deer Leon was fighting, then at Theia.
"I’ll go help the others. Make sure to keep an eye on him."
Theia nodded and returned her attention to the man fighting the deer. Hilda quickly disappeared from sight as she ran off to save other people.

Leon was battling the deer, but the wooden stick from the prison cell didn’t provide much penetrating power, so he could only bash the creature’s head. Just having a weapon coated in mystic power gave him enough of an advantage to fight a malformed deer with its insane strength.
Luckily, the mystic power made up for it as he swung the stick, smashing pieces of wood into the deer’s face. Its head became even more malformed, unrecognizable as a deer or anything else.
However, the blow wasn’t fatal. The deer tried to get up again, but its body was shaking beyond belief. Seeing it was still alive, Leon used his stick to smash all over the deer’s body, bruising it and killing it in the process.
"YESS!!!!!"
Leon shouted after winning the fight. He felt better than ever, having dealt with the threat all by himself. Both his arms went up in the air to celebrate, but when he turned to look at Theia, he was shocked. It was not the sight of the purple-haired girl but a gaping maw, ready to devour him.
His eyes widened in surprise, and his whole body froze up, unable to respond in time. Luckily, the maw wasn’t aiming at him. The rows of teeth shot past him with quick speed. Leon looked over his shoulder, following the spirit wolf that Theia had summoned.
The big black wolf jumped at a target again, but this time, it wasn’t the deer Leon had just fought. A new mutant beast had appeared.
Theia had caught sight of it just before it jumped at Leon, giving her time to react. Her summon quickly clashed with the new creature.
After regaining his composure a bit, Leon quickly stepped back to observe the situation. The big black wolf had engaged in a fight with something. Upon closer look, he could see it was a white wolf—a familiar sight in the northern lands. However, this one felt strange.
It gave off the same feeling as the malformed deer, and sure enough, after the big wolf bit into its neck and desummoned, the malformed creature revealed itself. It was a wolf but twisted in a bizarre way. Its mouth now had a second row of teeth, making it even more menacing.
"The wolves have changed too?"
Its appearance surprised him. He had seen countless deer changing, so it wasn’t too far-fetched that wolves might change too. Theia suffered a bit from side effects but quickly picked herself up.
"Seems like they’re increasing their forces…"
She had a bad feeling about this.
------------------
Hilda moved through the village with ease. Even though monsters now covered the area, she had trained for this, so traveling through it at high speed wasn’t much of a problem. Finally, she saw what was terrorizing the people. However, what she saw shocked her a bit.
It was a malformed wolf.
She had no time to contemplate how to fight it when she noticed a tribesman lying right under it.
"Help me! Help me, please!!!!!"
With a quick glance, Hilda identified him as the guy who had put them in prison. His face now showed panic; gone was the arrogant voice he had used to intimidate her. He screamed loudly as the wolf bit into his side with its large, malformed teeth. The pain was no doubt excruciating.
He continued to beg for his life, but no one seemed to answer him. Most people had already evacuated the area, and the other mystic warriors couldn’t help him, their hands full dealing with more monsters.
Hilda quickly threw her knife at the wolf. Its eyes moved from the victim to the knife whistling through the air. The wolf made a quick decision to dodge, and the knife flew past, hitting the wall of a nearby house.
The wolf howled in anger and tried to leap at Hilda. However, its speed wasn’t enough to catch her off guard. She quickly dodged the incoming attack and headed straight to the tribesman lying on the ground.
Saving people was her first priority. Slaying the wolf could wait a bit. She quickly dragged the tribesman away into one of the houses for cover.
Upon realizing someone had come to help him, the tribesman cried a river.
"Thank you!!! Truly, thank you... I am so sorry..."
When he saw that the one saving him was the Empire person he had thrown in jail, he cried even harder. Just from how pathetic he looked, Hilda considered letting the wolf eat him. However, her deal with Egul still stands; she will save the people and deal with the wolf.
Bang!
Speaking of which, the wolf forced its way through the door, scattering wood everywhere and kicking up snow dust. Fear was apparent in the tribesman’s eyes as he tried his best to crawl away.
With his injuries, however, he didn’t get far before pain caught up to him. Clutching his wound, he turned to look at Hilda, who was in a battle stance. Now, instead of disdain for the Empire people, his eyes were filled with endless gratitude.
Yet, he still wasn’t completely safe. Hilda quickly threw another knife at the wolf, but it dodged again. She wasn’t done, and launched two more consecutive throws, aiming at spots where the wolf might dodge. However, its nimble body evaded all her attacks.
It seemed this wolf was more capable than the deer—those creatures would never dodge all her attacks like this. She threw more of her knives to catch it off guard but it didn’t seem to be falling for her tricks.
After a bit of dodging, the wolf finally gains the confidence to close the distance. Hida eyes brows knitted together as the wolf approached them. The tribesman in the back is scared shitless. Hoping that Hilda would be able to kill the wolf.
