Hilda rushed as fast as she could, growing more worried for the girl each time she encountered a new monster. After running for a minute, she finally arrived at the place where she had left Theia. Her heart sank at the sight of blood stains and a hole in the building.

A deer corpse indicated there had been a fight, one they had won. But the hole in the wall told a different story, especially with a piece of Theia’s coat lying on the white snow. Although there was no blood here, Hilda still worried about Theia’s well-being.

Her cold heart had begun to soften for the girl after spending so much time around her. Holding her breath, she examined the hole in the wall, hoping not to find Theia’s body.

Her prayer was answered. Inside the dimly lit room lay only a wolf corpse, its head bitten clean off. From the look of the wound, Hilda could tell it was Theia’s wolf; the bite was large, much larger than any normal wolf or even the twisted wolves.

She heaved a sigh of relief and stepped back outside. Now, she needed to find where the girl had gone. Just then, she heard a sound.

"We’re sheltering people in the center hall!"

Hilda looked in that direction, wondering if Theia had gone there, though she couldn’t be sure. When the announcement was made, she also heard another sound—a muffled noise from a corner of the house. Tucked away between the circular walls was the doctor.

Even though he was tied up, he still found a way to move himself into a safer pot. He could endure the pain, sure but it’s still a pain in the ass to regenerate his body. His eyes lit up when he saw Hilda.

"Mghd mh"

The rope was still tied around his mouth but Hilda could tell that the doctor intended to say "Help me". To be honest, Hilda couldn’t care less about this guy, he could go die somewhere else out of her sight. However, Hilda also got a fun idea.

She approaches the doctor with a neutral expression. He looked at her with glee, ready to be saved. Hilda grabbed the robe on his main body and then proceeded to throw him out into the open.

"MHGGG MHGHGHGH"

He could tell that the guy was furious, he quickly wiggled around to lose the rope but it was no use. Egul rope master had reached the max level, so the doctor couldn’t get out easily. After struggling for a minute, the doctor finally went quiet.

He realized that causing all this commotion would make him suffer more. But it was already too late, the noise and movement brought something one or something here.

One wolf and one deer. They quickly approached him when they saw a free meal on the ground. The doctor quickly realized that he had been too noisy and he tried to roll his way out. But he quickly found out that this was useless, the deer caught up to him easily.

Its mouth opens and eats the doctor. Hilda who watching from the side could help but felt a bit sick. The sight of animal-consuming people was not pleasant. She had seen some form of torture and this one was one of the worst ones especially if they were alive afterward.

Which the doctor could easily do.

What she was most impressed by was the fact that the doctor wasn’t screaming. He didn’t lie when he said that most pain couldn’t do anything to him. After getting thrashed around for a minute he quickly recovered.

However, when he came alive again, the doctor had a brilliant plan to stay still. If he acted dead, then the monster would not target him anymore. Right then Hilda threw snow at him.

Fuck you!

The doctor held in his curses, knowing it would only make his situation worse. Not that it mattered—his body went limp after he was eaten for the second time.

This happened four times. Hilda threw a snowball to distract the deer, giving the doctor a chance to use the distraction to free himself from the ropes. But just as he almost escaped, he died again.

"Help me!"

After the ropes finally came loose, he quickly yelled for help. However, Hilda couldn’t care less about him and even took some pleasure in his misery. The doctor managed to run a whole meter before the world caught up to him again.

"Help me! I can stop this invasion!"

The doctor shouted, desperately trying to get Hilda’s help. But his words fell on deaf ears as he died yet again.

"I know where Theia and Leon went!"

After his ninth death, Hilda finally decided to help him—not out of sympathy, but because she’d rather keep him close than let him roam freely. And that information could be useful right now.

"Thank you..." he whispered weakly.

"...Where are they?" Hilda asked, getting straight to the point.

"They went that way," the doctor said, pointing to the largest building in the village. "They went there after hearing the announcement." He didn’t dare to lie because Hilda held the upper hand in this negotiation. He would love to play pranks but Ultimately Hilda wasn’t the person that could be fooled.

Hilda nodded and made the doctor lead the way. After all, if another monster attacked him, she could pull back safely. With the ropes gone, she didn’t want to expose her back to him.

Despite her superior combat skills, Hilda couldn’t shake the feeling that the doctor was hiding something, some hidden power he hadn’t used around her. It didn’t make sense for someone to survive this long with no combat capability at all.

After another minute of walking—and watching the doctor die five more times—they finally reached the shelter. However, from the outside, the situation didn’t look good. Monsters that had slipped past Egul and another tribal leader were beginning to pile up, and, hearing the loud announcement, had started swarming in.

The nine people defending this place were struggling to hold their ground.
