Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss-Chapter 12: Bloodbinding
Chapter 12: Bloodbinding
Ren stood at the edge of the training grounds, watching the fight taking place in front of him.
His brother, Darius, and Sir Robert were both sparring and it was not any ordinary spar. They were both Knights, wielding the power of Bloodbinding. He had to admit that it was a sight to behold.
Sir Robert moved like a man nearing retirement age, so slow that Ren was sure he could move faster. His sword had a yellow tint, showing that the Knight had reinforced his sword, allowing it to cut sharper and move faster in his grip.
He moved with confidence and even with how slow he seemed, he was completely in control of the fight.
Darius, on the other hand, fought like this was his last battle on earth. His armor gleamed with the reddish tint of fresh Bloodbinding, enhancing his speed and strength.
With each bound, he leapt unnaturally high, his momentum carrying him into the air for brief moments before he came crashing down with powerful strikes. With his bulk, he looked like a flying boulder.
Despite his impressive technique, it was clear that Darius was struggling. Sir Robert deflected each of his attacks with the ease of a man with all the time in the world, moving just enough to stay out of reach.
The older Knight's footwork was impeccable, his stance casual as he countered, Darius dodging by inches each time. Whenever Darius lunged forward, his sword cutting through the air with enhanced speed, Sir Robert parried casually, sending sparks flying as their blades clashed.
Darius didn't let up. He surged forward, channeling more power into his armor. With a powerful push, he leapt high into the air, twisting his body mid-flight and bringing his sword down with the force of an avalanche.
It was the kind of attack that Ren had witnessed crushed barbarians back at the border.
He watched as Sir Robert chuckled, raising his sword to block the attack head on. Then at the last moment, the man sidestepped the attack, letting Darius's blade smash into the ground and cracking it, creating a small impact crater.
Before Darius could recover, Sir Robert twisted his sword and struck his opponent's gauntlet with the flat of his blade, causing a ripple in the Bloodbinding glow of Darius' armor. Darius stumbled, losing his balance.
"You rely too much on the strength Bloodbinding gives you." Sir Robert said calmly. "It makes you fast, strong, and agile, but it doesn't make you invincible."
Darius gritted his teeth and attacked once more. This time, he switched tactics, moving unpredictably, using rapid slashes and quick bursts of speed to overwhelm his opponent.

Sir Robert defended effortlessly, his blade dancing through the air in smooth arcs. Each of Darius's attacks met either empty space or was parried with contemptuous ease.
Frustrated, Darius feigned an overhand strike before pivoting on his heel and swinging his sword in a low, horizontal arc.
Sir Robert's eyes gleamed in approval at the trick, but his defense was still just as strong. He lowered his stance, tilting his blade at an angle that caused Darius's sword to glide off harmlessly.
In the same motion, he kicked Darius's knee, forcing the younger fighter off balance.
Darius staggered back, panting. He had fought with everything he had, but it all just made Sir Robert look untouchable. The Knight took a step back, lowering his blade.
"That's enough for today." He said. "You've improved, but you need patience. Strength means nothing without control."
Darius let out a frustrated breath as he pulled off his helmet, accepting the critique. He sheathed his sword and nodded in understanding. "Thank you for the spar, Sir Robert."
Sir Robert chuckled, shaking his head. "You'll get there, lad. Don't rush it. Learn to feel your opponent's movements, not just react to them. A true warrior controls the battle, not just their weapon."
With that, he gave Darius a firm clap on the shoulder and walked away, leaving him to stew in his thoughts.
Ren, who had been silently observing the match, clenched his fists. Bloodbinding is incredible!
Watching Darius fight, watching the way Bloodbinding allowed him to push past human limitations, made Ren even more impatient. He needed to learn it.
This wasn't even half of what Bloodbinding could do. He knew from the game that the most powerful Bloodbinders could split a mountain in one strike. It'll take a lot of power and would leave them unable to do it again until they recover but it was possible.
He needed to be someone as powerful as that. Someone that can stand on the same level as the Great Calamities.
With a nod to himself, he approached Darius. "Teach me."
Darius turned, wiping sweat from his brow. "What?"
"Teach me Bloodbinding." Ren repeated seriously.
Darius laughed at his younger brother's words, shaking his head. "You're not ready for it, Ren."
Ren stiffened. "How do you know that? I've been training. I can handle it."
Darius sighed, crossing his beefy arms. "Bloodbinding isn't just about spilling some blood on a weapon and hoping for the best. It's a skill. A painful one. It takes time to master, and you don't even have a proper weapon yet. Besides, you saw what happened to me out there."
He gestured toward the training ground. "I still have a long way to go myself. I don't have time to teach a beginner."
Ren narrowed his eyes. "Then what would make me ready?"
Darius hesitated. "You need to prove that you have the endurance and mental discipline to handle it. Bloodbinding takes something from you every time you use it."
He crouched to Ren's level, reminding him of just how small he was at ten years old. "If you're weak, it'll eat you alive."
Ren took a deep breath, meeting his brother's eyes with all the seriousness he could muster on his face. "Then I'll prove it."
Darius frowned but didn't argue. Instead, he stood with a shrug. "Do what you want, Ren. Just don't come crying to me when you fail."
Ren watched as his brother walked away, but he wasn't deterred.
If Darius wanted proof, he would get it.
