Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss-Chapter 243: The God That Would Rise
At the summit of the cathedral's tallest spire, the Chained Man floated, suspended within his cocoon of glowing iron.
He basked in the roar of the battle and the storm of suffering that was taking place in Edenhold.
Chains swirled around him, absorbing pain, fear, death, blood, conflict, feeding his ascension like fuel to a sacred fire. His eyes were closed, his arms stretched wide, his soul unraveling into something new. Something beautiful.
And then, it stopped.
It felt like someone had jerked him out of nowhere.
He was like a bystander, watching as the resonance razed through his conduits, snuffing them out in an instant.
The cocoon of chains fell still.
The Chained Man opened his eyes.
He looked up. Felt the sudden absence. The silence.
And he screamed.
The roar shook the cathedral. His body snapped back in place with backlash as the ascension collapsed.
The infected, the funnel through which he sucked in as much blood and conflict as he needed, were gone.
Not dying. Gone. Severed. Erased.
The soulsteel circle beneath his feet cracked. The tower groaned.
He felt the disturbance like a knife in the gut. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"No..."
The resonance he had spent years collecting evaporated. His power receded like a raging tide. His chains withered, shattering its cocoon and snapping back into place around his torso.
He reached out through the blood-soaked city for connection, for suffering, for fuel.
But there was nothing.
Who did this? Who?!
His awareness snapped to that unique signature. It was the Stolen.
Terence Ross.
The Chained Man's eyes burned with fury. He snarled. Then, he dropped.
He descended, the stone beneath him cracking before shattering as he smashed through floor after floor of the cathedral.
Wood exploded. Protections of Resonance magic flared and burned out as he passed.
He plunged through altars, sanctums, offices, ossuaries, until finally, he crashed into the prison like a meteor.

The entire cell detonated.
Ren, Lilith, Thorn, and Elias were thrown back, slammed against the walls. Rubble rained down.
And when the dust cleared, he stood before them.
Even if they hadn't seen him before, they could tell who he was.
The Chained Man.
And he was very familiar.
"Lars?" Ren choked.
The person before him looked exactly like the loyal guard of the Penny Prince. But that was where the similarities ended.
The Chained Man's body was covered in blackened veins, and his skin was like cracked marble. His dark chains hovered around him like sentient snakes. His eyes were pits of silver fire.
Lilith gasped. Elias muttered a curse. Thorn raised his sword.
But Ren stepped forward.
The moment their eyes met, something stirred in Ren's soul. It was Unfettered Enhancement.
[Existential Threat Detected.]
[Removing All Limiters.]
Even though no screen appeared before him, he could instantly read the words within himself, as if Unfettered Enhancement was broadcasting itself to him.
A pulse of white-hot light exploded from within him, pushing the Chained Man back.

[Rank 6, Phantom Extension, Activated.]

Ren could feel himself brimming with power. Unfettered Enhancement had shot him straight to the peak of Soulbinding, Rank 8.
[Tithecraft Unlocked To Max Level.]
Ren could feel it within himself. His strength shot up, and he knew he could call up any vine and control any animal he wanted.
[Resonance Magic Unlocked To Max Level.]
The ground beneath his feet cracked, and a visible aura expanded for him. At that moment, he felt like a god made flesh.
All this took place in a split second, his eyes still on the Chained Man.
The Chained Man's eyes widened and he swore. "Yggdrasil."
But Ren already knew what he had to do.
He raised his hand.
Chains lunged at him but he paid no mind to them. They were moving slow enough for him to not feel any panic.
He Pushed.
The chains shattered.
Ren moved.
He blurred forward and slammed into the Chained Man, fist first, resonance erupting from his palm.
The Chained Man flew backward, smashing through three prison walls.
Ren followed. He held Freedom at his side, and the weapon buzzed, trailing white flames.
The Chained Man rose, half his face cracked open but slowly reknitting itself, his chains regrowing like a hydra.
"You ruined everything." He snarled.
Chains exploded from his body, streaking through the air towards Ren.
Ren slashed with Freedom. The chains met the blade, and split.
Ren Pushed.
The air cracked. The cathedral's east wing collapsed.
The Chained Man retaliated. He swung his chains, and the walls moved, folding inwards. A giant hand of stone erupted from downwards, reaching towards Ren.
Ren didn't even slow down. He punched, his strength shattering the walls and stone.
He surged forward and the Chained Man's chains tinkled, and time slowed down. Ren felt like he was moving through mud, then he Pushed. The restrictions of the chains fell away.
He blurred before the Chained Man and punched, sending him upward, into the chapel at the ground floor of the holy cathedral. He followed, but the Chained Man was already waiting.
Ren crossed his arms before him to block as the punch landed.
Ren dug his heels in as a wave of energy swept through the hair. Stained glass exploded, pews turned to ash, and the statues of saints crumbled.
The Chained Man layered the concepts of restriction and obedience on his chains, sending them streaking towards Ren's neck.
Ren caught it.
"You think chains can hold me?"
He Pushed, channeling every drop of the resonance at his fingertips into a single moment.
The cathedral ruptured.
The Push sent the Chained Man through the stone walls, and he soared through the sky. Ren, who was still connected to him through his chain, followed along.
The Chained Man didn't stop. Dark chains erupted from him, each and every one streaking towards Ren.
Ren twisted in the air, Pushing them all back.
They streaked through the air, and a few seconds later, they landed in the city streets of Edenhold, buildings crumbling around the crater of their fall.
Ren slapped the ground and vines erupted, snaking around the Chained Man. The man roared and his chains speared into the ground, giving him control over it.
Ren Pushed himself upwards, as the ground surged upwards, reaching for him. And with a snarl, he Pushed downwards.
"Almighty Push: All."
The city below shook. Everything in a mile around him, except for the holy cathedral, immediately felt the weight of the Push.
Buildings flattened, and the earth shattered.
Edenhold was already ruined, but this section of the large city was simply erased from existence.
Ren hovered above the sky, held aloft by a constant pressure of Push against the ground.
He surveyed the damage like an avenging god before dropping out of the sky towards the Chained Man.
The man snarled as he staggered to his feet, blood pouring from the parts of his body that had been crushed. "Damn you, Yggdrasil!" He screamed into the air.
Ren pulled back his hand and hurled Freedom. The sword streaked through the air, shearing through the chains.
The Chained Man stepped to the side, dodging the sword, which embedded itself into the ground.
Then, he turned back to Ren who had already dropped above him. His chains lashed before him to form a shield, then his eyes widened as he saw it.
Ren activated the Rank 6 Soulbinding Ability, Phantom Extension, Freedom materializing in his hand as it descended. The sword cracked as it gained a metaphysical weight, falling with the power of a mountain.
The world went silent as Freedom flashed a bright white as it split the man from shoulder to waist.
The chains began to unravel, as the Chained Man howled, a sound that cracked the sky.
Then, the Chained Man exploded.
