Extra's Re-awakening: System Errors Made Me Too OP-Chapter 53: Joint Raid
"Huh? Has living in poverty in that village of yours depreciate your reasoning? We are here to raid our dungeon of course!" She chuckled as she spoke, her voice full of confidence and amusement, leaving everyone from both guilds standing in stunned silence. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐๐ธ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐ค๐ถ
"Isnโt it obvious to you yet? Weโre here to raid a dungeon!" The village chief stayed silent as she spoke. It was clear he had deceived them both, but Misa refused to give up ownership of the dungeon.
"Hehehe." Kazuki chuckled and smiled faintly, letting out a quiet sigh as he shook his head. "Your really dreadful insults I can take, but this is where we are going to have issues you hyperactive princess!" He added, turning to face her directly.
"Yeah thatโs right!" His squad members stood firmly behind him in support, while Kaira quietly stepped back, distancing herself from the group. She refused to take part in what she considered such disgraceful behavior.
"You tell her captain!" Ken exclaimed.
"Shut the hell up! Your elders are speaking." Kazuki replied quickly, pulling a cigarette from his pocket and placing it between his lips.
"Big sister, you seem acquainted with the captain of the 11th, are they always like this?" A familiar voice called out from among the group standing behind Misa.
"Hm?" Rai muttered, instantly recognizing the voice from the previous day during the Soul-Hunterโs examination.
"Silver Veylir..." He said under his breath as the elegant figure of nobility himself stepped forward, his presence commanding the attention of everyone around.
Silver of the Veylir family โ his name alone carried weight. Quiet, mysterious, yet always wearing a cheerful smile. His past, much like his present, was shrouded in secrecy, offering no hints of who he truly was. He had white, silky hair, silver eyes that gleamed faintly under the light, and a perfectly shaped jawline that completed his noble appearance..
His attire waselegant and captivating. He wore a finely tailored tunic made of rich silk or velvet that shimmered under the light in a deep midnight blue hue. Along the cuffs and neckline, silver embroidery traced intricate patterns and symbols of his noble house and lineage , adding a touch of regality to his already refined presence.
"Damn... Itโs that noble who won his battle without doing anything..." No one could forget his spectacular performance in the Soul-Hunterโs examination. And his chilling words that proved he really was a member of the Veylir family.
"Youโre..." Silverโs gaze settled on Rai, one of the few candidates who had truly caught his attention during the combat stage of the Soul-Hunterโs examination. His interest, however, wasnโt due to the impressive power Rai displayed during the exams, but rather the words he spoke just moments before unleashing the A-rank Soul-Technique, Electric Burst Evolved.
"Your performance in the Soul-Hunterโs examination was undoubtedly admirable, itโs a surprise to see that you ended up in the 14th Soul-Squad of all places, especially you." Silverโs eyes shifted sharply toward Kaira, but she merely shrugged and looked away, completely unbothered. In her mind, she didnโt owe anyone an explanation.
"Well, I didnโt have much of a choi-" As Rai spoke, his eyes shifted and caught the ominous gaze of a figure standing just behind Silver. The figureโs piercing eyes were fixed on him, his silent stare carrying an unspoken sense of hostility.
"Xander, good to see youโre doing okay." Rai said with a soft smile.
"Rai..." Xander murmured in response, his eyes scanning Rai from head to toe, as though he were carefully assessing every inch of him..
"The Fourteenth Soul-Squad ? And here I was thinking you were something special, only for you to be placed in the lowest squad of all. At the end of the day, I suppose youโre just a simple D-rank Soul-Hunter after all."
"Xander." Misa called out to him sharply, her tone firm and eyes filled with clear disappointment at his behavior.
He withdrew into the crowd with a cocky smile on his face. Ren had warned Rai of Xanderโs attitude, and he thought he was joking. But one thing was for sure, after the incident that occurred in the dungeon days or more accurately a day ago, Xander changed.
His behavior and attitude changed the moment he had a one on one conversation with the Primordial Flame Essen-Beast. One could say he had grown somewhat overconfident in the power he possessed, while to Rai, it was safe to say he is being corrupted.
"Youโll have to forgive my squad member, itโs one of those mood swings he goes through lately." Misa said, extending his apologies towards them.
"It canโt be helped, now then, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT MY DUNGEON!?" Kazuki exclaimed, turning to face the village chief, whose gaze was fixed on the ground in evident dismay.
"Thatโs right, why did you sell the rights of this dungeon to me then to him without informing any of us? Thatโs not how to conduct a business properly." Misa said in support, the two captains approaching the old man who had tears beginning to drip down his eyes.
"Iโm pretty sure he sold it to me then to you." Rai struck back in response, and the two captains locked eyes, glaring at each other in silent conflict.
"Forgive me your majesty, itโs just after the 14th Soul-Squad reserved the rights to this dungeon, you came with an even bigger offer that I couldnโt resist, not to mention that youโre the 8th Soul-Squad. Considering the current plague that threatens to devour our village, I had to accept. But I couldnโt bare to inform either of you."
"Huh?" The two captains stepped back from each other as the village chiefโs words sank in. A plague was not something to be taken lightly.
"Wait, what do you mean plague?" Kazuki asked, his interest seemingly growing.
"Well you see, days after the dungeon appeared. Mysterious things began happening to our village." The old man said as he stared down the path to the village.
"What do you mean mysterious things?" Misa questioned, her hands crossed firmly under her breasts.
"Once in every two days, a mysterious fog covers our entire village and after itโs gone, some of my villagers went missing. At first I assumed they got lost on their way in the fog, but as time progressed more of my villagers went missing and I knew immediately it had something to do with the dungeon that appeared." As the village chief explained, his heart sank as he remembered how this affected them badly.
โA fog that swallows people? Interesting.โ Rai thought. It couldnโt be just mere coincidence.
"I see, when was the last time this fog appeared?" Misa questioned.
"Two days ago." The chief responded.
"That means.." As Kazuii spoke, he pulled out the cigarette from his mouth and exhaled, releasing the smoke in his mouth into the air. "Todayโs the day the fog is going to re-emerge isnโt it?" He added.
"Thatโs right... Thatโs why I became desperate... Not only did the fog take my villagers, it took my... Damn it.." As the chief replied, tears dripped down his eyes continuously. Not only had the fog taken his villagers, it also took his wife and children.
"As much as I hate to say it, this is not something we can ignore so we have to work together princess." Kazuki suggested.
"Oh? You donโt like us working together? And here I was thinking about the time you-"
"You know what I mean!"
"Youโre so fun to tease, but youโre right. If the fog indeed comes from the dungeon it may already mean whatever is in it may be trying to break through. We are going to have to split into teams of two." With a nod of affirmation, the two captains turned to face their teams.
"Listen up! As you are all aware there is a current threat beyond the gates of this dungeon. No one knows what is going on, but all we do is this, we will get to the bottom of it. There will be two teams for this mission! Team and Team B, consisting of two members of both Soul-Squads." Misa began the announcement, instantly capturing the attention of the two teams.
"Team A will venture into the dungeon and try to close the gate, furthermore if indeed the fog came from the gate that means the villagers must be in there. Team B will stay and stand guard, thereโs no guarantee that the fog wouldnโt resurface back here so whatever it is that took the villagers hostage, weโll be here to stop it." Kazuki chimed in, giving the full details of their mission.
"In other words, Team A your job is a search and rescue mission! Find the villagers if they are not already dead then we close this dungeon. Team B! Your job is to protect the village till weโre back."
"Yes captains!" With a chorus respond, the whole team chanted.
"Donโt worry old man, weโll get your family back. But Iโll be sure to get my money back ainโt no way youโre getting away with this for free." Kazuki said sternly, his eyes displaying his frustrations towards him being duped.
"You have my word, you will be duly rewarded." The village chief assured him.
"Alright, you just stay where itโs safe sir, weโll bring your people back." Misa chimed in.
"Rai, Ken, Lucy, Aiden, and Kaira. Youโre with me."
"Elene, you both go with team A. Theyโll need all the help they can get, if indeed whateverโs in there is trying to break free from the B-rank dungeon, then we canโt risk it, you all have but one mission, find the villagers and close the gates." With a loud proclamation, Kazuki issued the plan of action.
"Letโs go! Team A!" Misa joined in the proclamation.
"Yes captain!"
