Extra's Strategy: Cultivate Protagonists, Become Invincible-Chapter 114: Han Xuhan’s Insidious Sixth Move
Chapter 114: Han Xuhan’s Insidious Sixth Move
Several heartbeats later, Zhao Weiqing sensed his eyes working once more as the world above him became clear.
He wasn’t dead! Not yet! The documents in his hands had deflected much of the lethality behind the strike!
Ceaselessly, blood was streaming out from his left temple, the entire left side of his head feeling numb. Han Xuhan hadn’t managed to hit him with the sharp edge of the glaive’s blade, he realized upon touching the wound. The skin in that area had been crushed open, bones were fractured, but not much damage had been done to anything beyond that.
By the time he managed to shake off the shock and dizziness, Han Xuhan had disappeared from his sight.
His head spinning, Zhao Weiqing staggered up and looked around.
Mu Ran’s body was missing from his side, having been carried off by Han Xuhan who had never stopped in his sprint. The two of them were almost about to disappear into the fog far away.
Zhao Weiqing turned to look at the three cultivators who were supposed to ambush Han Xuhan from within the fog. After taking the full force of the explosive knife, none of them were in good shape.
Unlike Zhao Weiqing’s prime vessel, they didn’t have anything to shield themselves with. The only reason none of them were fatally injured was because two of them were martial cultivators, who had taken the brunt of the damage. As for Feng Jun, he was being directly controlled by Zhao Weiqing’s spiritual consciousness.
Shaking off another wave of dizziness, Zhao Weiqing ordered a few more cultivators to chase after Han Xuhan. He himself staggered along in that direction.
He wanted to see how long that scrawny brat could keep running while carrying Mu Ran. His speed was much slower, now that he had someone bigger than him on his back.
What was he trying to achieve by running? This entire world fragment belonged to Zhao Weiqing!
Han Xuhan felt Mu Ran’s ragged breathing brush against his ear with every shaky step throughout his mad sprint. All he could do now was pray the guy would wake up soon. He’d already done everything he could to speed up the healing.
With no way back, having thrown everything into this one wager, Han Xuhan gritted his teeth and forced himself to keep running like a machine, ignoring the screaming muscles of his legs and the burst of pain from his overworked lungs.
From three different directions, pursuers were chasing after him with a single-minded focus. The platforms were close, but his opponents were closer. Eventually, one of the cultivators who had managed to get close enough used his Mystic Art to cast a spell, which seemed to create an invisible chain in the air that clamped down on My Ran’s torso like a vice.
Instead of playing tug of war with Mu Ran’s body, Han Xuhan let go of it immediately, surprising the attacker so much that he lost his balance and fell while tugging on the invisible chain.
Watching them rolling across the sand, Zhao Weiqing couldn’t help but grow confounded. What was the point of carrying Mu Ran for so long if he was going to leave him at the first chance?
Could this be another insidious scheme? They had to watch out for such possibilities!
Unknowingly, Zhao Weiqing, who had treated Han Xuhan with utter disdain at the beginning of their confrontation, now felt a sliver of fear every time he saw Han Xuhan make a move that he couldn’t immediately explain.
Arriving next to Mu Ran’s dust-covered, unconscious body, he examined it for a couple of seconds.
"After risking so much to save his martial brother, he actually used him as a disposable shield? Truly sinister! For a second, I was convinced that he actually cared about his friend. Hah!"
Zhao Weiqing’s remarks were quite loud, at least loud enough for Han Xuhan to overhear. Even while running for his life, Xuhan couldn’t help turning backwards to flip him off.
"Brother Yun, if you’re feeling so heartbroken by the cruelty of this world, how about you set an example of kindness and give him back to me?"
"Sure, sure, why don’t you come back to take him away? I’m ready to hand him over!" Zhao Weiqing joked while ordering the other cultivator to stand guard over Mu Ran. Then he shot toward Han Xuhan again with two more cultivators in tow.
The platform was only a little distance away from Han Xuhan’s position. If he reached it and managed to utilize the teleportation function, things would get complicated. He had to be stopped somehow.
Having received a mental order, Feng Jun, who was Han Xuhan’s closest pursuer at the moment, suddenly squatted down on the ground and smashed his fists on the soil.
Han Xuhan felt the ground beneath his feet turning into a layer of unnaturally smooth sand. His feet unable to exert proper force, he stumbled and landed on all fours, speed instantly being reduced to zero.
Standing up, Feng Jun thrust his hands forward and the air in front of him rippled.
Han Xuhan felt a great, invisible pressure pressing down on his body, as if he had dived dozens of meters underwater. Even the smallest movement he made took great effort.
Elemental techniques! He recognized this fighting method, having seen many disciples in the sect using such means in Elder Long’s martial lessons.
No wonder Feng Jun had chosen the elemental-type law techniques during the third round of the inheritance test!
Unable to even get up, Han Xuhan released a despondent sigh, watching Brother Yun and his lackeys running over. The sheer defenselessness in his current position made them wary about coming too close, funnily enough.
"Don’t worry, guys. No need to be cautious anymore. I’m fully willing to handle this like civilized people," Han Xuhan said nervously.
Right then, while Qian Yun, Feng Jun, and the other cultivators’ attention was on him, a distant yelp from behind them caught everyone off guard... well, everyone except Han Xuhan.
The cultivator who had been guarding Mu Ran was lying on the ground, unconscious. Mu Ran stood over him with his arms crossed and qi rippling around him, making it evident that he had just executed a technique. Han Xuhan could recognize the signature of the ’Astral Heatwave’ spell easily.
"The healing pills of my sect are pretty good. I have to find a way to learn the craft," Han Xuhan muttered to himself, a smile creeping into his face.
The sixth move of his plan had been set into motion!
