Extreme Cold Era: Shelter Don't Keep Waste-Chapter 808 - 37
Although she claimed not to be worried, for the sake of safety during the experiment, Perfikot chose a mountaintop on the outskirts of Chernobyl as the test site for the Floating Core.
Perfikot used a Flying Airship to transport the Floating Core here and dispatched Flying Knights to clear the area, ensuring there was no one within a five-kilometer radius.
According to Perfikot's calculations, even if she fully expanded the Anti-Gravity Field around this Floating Core, it wouldn't harm anyone within its range, but for the sake of safety, she still cleared the area.
After all, if anything unexpected happened, although it wouldn't cause her any trouble, it wasn't a situation Perfikot wanted to see.
So even though it seemed like overkill, Perfikot still went ahead with the clearance.
After the area was clear, Perfikot stood on the Flying Airship, gazing at the Floating Core placed on the mountaintop, and asked Sanderion beside her, "Do you think this test will succeed?"
"What's this? Lacking confidence? That's rare for you." Sanderion was a bit surprised upon hearing Perfikot's question.
In her mind, Perfikot was always the perfect genius girl, full of confidence in herself and her creations, no matter what she did.
She was like a Prophet ahead of her time, always a step ahead, making the right choices that made everyone trust and depend on her involuntarily. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Let alone the ordinary people, even Sanderion found herself subconsciously seeking Perfikot's help whenever they collaborated.
But when Perfikot lacked confidence in herself, it felt disjointed and surprising.
Because such emotions shouldn't appear on her.
However, Perfikot didn't mind; she merely shrugged and said, "I'm fully confident in what's within the scope of 'human' capability, but this experiment has already exceeded the limits of 'human' power. I'm a bit worried about unforeseen consequences.
I think you should understand what I'm saying, right? One cursed by the Divine in the past."
Hearing Perfikot say this, Sanderion immediately understood. Years ago, she and several Legendary figures attempted to break the limits of the Extraordinary and touch the realm of the Divine, resulting in curses and backlash.
The repercussions of that incident lingered for a century until Perfikot intervened to resolve the problem for her.
So, Perfikot's concern about potential issues is not unfounded.
Facing Perfikot's worry, Sanderion also felt a moment of tension but quickly said, "We've come this far, are you saying you're not going through with it? You've already laid out the entire plan; backing out now seems a bit late."
"Of course I'm not saying to quit, but I think we should make some preparations to bolster our confidence." Perfikot looked at the Floating Core below and said to Beifa behind her, "Beifa, activate alert mode and prepare for combat."
After speaking, Perfikot jumped off the Flying Airship, descending amidst a flurry of gasps and frantic movements, directly activating the Floating Core.
If the Floating Core didn't start successfully, she would likely fall to her death.
But as long as the Floating Core operated normally, the Anti-Gravity Field would hold her up, preventing her from hitting the ground.
"Are you insane? Jumping down like that, aren't you afraid of dying? Proving yourself doesn't work like this!" Sanderion quickly followed down, carrying an alchemist tool of hers that allowed her to glide briefly in the air.
She tried to grab Perfikot, but Perfikot was falling too fast, and the distance to the ground too short, so Sanderion didn't catch her.
However, Perfikot didn't hit the ground; she successfully activated the Floating Core.
"If I don't have enough confidence in my works, who else would?" Perfikot, now floating up, looked at Sanderion, seemingly suspended in mid-air after losing momentum, and suddenly laughed.
She relaxed all her limbs and floated in the air, enveloped by the Anti-Gravity Field, feeling as if she were floating in water.
For Perfikot, such an experience was familiar; she had felt the sensation of floating in the air when she first created the Flying Stone.
Now, though the sensation was the same, her mood was entirely different.
"Speaking of Floating Cities, aren't they supposed to stand on solid ground? Floating like this isn't quite city-like." Sanderion adjusted her alchemy tool and finally reached Perfikot's side, asking her.
Perfikot nodded, then shook her head, simply saying, "The answer to your question is on the Floating Battleship," and said nothing more, just floated relaxedly in the air.
Seeing Perfikot like this, Sanderion couldn't help but remind her, "Miss, you're here to test the Floating Core, not to have fun! It's time to work!"
Upon hearing Sanderion's reminder, Perfikot only gave her a glance and then said, "How do you know I'm not testing it? The key test for the Floating Core is the Anti-Gravity Field; as long as it works, the Floating Core is fine. What's the problem with testing it this way?"
Perfikot's words were certainly unorthodox, but she invented the Floating Core, so how she chose to test it was her prerogative; no one could counter her or claim she was wrong.
Even Sanderion had to acknowledge Perfikot's authority in this area.
But she still told Perfikot, "At least change your posture? There are so many people watching, isn't it inappropriate to just float like that?"
"Everyone here is my loyal Knight; they'll keep it a secret for me." Perfikot didn't care about such things. Or rather, her fame, power, and status had long allowed her to act however she wished.
Sanderion was helpless; Perfikot was indeed perfect, whether in wisdom or talent, unmatched by anyone Sanderion had ever known. But when Perfikot decided to act a bit petulant, she was equally unbeatable, leaving Sanderion to watch powerlessly.
However, Perfikot wasn't really slacking off; after floating for a while, she said to Sanderion, "No Divine punishment has appeared. It seems my worries were unnecessary, or perhaps the gods are indifferent to this.
But one day, they'll regret not stopping me today because I will lead humanity into the realm of the Divine!"
