Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind-Chapter 89 - 78: Wu Ping
At the command of that person, everyone surged towards the cave entrance like a tide.
Inside, the refugees wanted to get out, while the rescuing cultivators outside wanted to get in; inside, there were vicious supernatural entities chasing, outside, there was a strange fog spreading.
Chaos and despair burned like an inextinguishable hellfire at everyone’s feet and in their hearts.
You Su knew he could no longer stay here, so he tightly grasped Ji Lingruo’s hand and merged into the crowd, ready to leave this place.
The tide of people made their movements difficult, so You Su directly picked Ji Lingruo up, pressing her close to him, and used the Ruyi Wind Manipulation Skill to maneuver through the sea of people.
"You Su."
Amidst the urgent escape, You Su suddenly heard someone calling his name, but everything around him was too chaotic; even holding his breath and concentrating, he couldn’t locate the source of the voice. He simply ignored it and continued rushing toward the cave entrance.
"You Su."
The voice sounded again, causing You Su agitation. Upon careful reflection, he realized this was Wu Cheng’s voice!
In a daze, within You Su’s sea of consciousness, a person’s silhouette amidst the flowing crowd became increasingly clear. He stood still in place, and You Su stopped to look in his direction.
Wu Cheng noticed You Su finally noticed him, and remotely smirked at him, his smile wanton and confident, as if he had seen prey that couldn’t escape.
Though unable to see the other’s eyes, You Su felt a chill and ran away without further hesitation.
Wu Cheng was relentless in chasing him, and the two performed an intense chase across the crowd.
You Su, adept in body technique, quickly reached the cave entrance first. The bustling crowd was squeezing their heads trying to get out, blocking the entrance completely.
"Brother, what should we do?"
Ji Lingruo in his arms was also anxious. She suspected that "Master" was likely the culprit behind all this, and getting caught by it would have unimaginable consequences.
You Su did not answer her; he only held her tighter. Just then, someone halfway out of the cave lost balance and fell, knocking over those behind. You Su had no time to rescue them; he judged the timing right and leaped, vaulting out of the cave entrance.
In a way, the panic-stricken escapees were no different from zombies, selfishly fighting for their lives, showing no pity for those trampled underfoot amidst the chaos, continually filling the cave entrance.
Outside Lucky Cave were many townsfolk and anxious cultivators organizing order, while others chose a detour, using a small emergency lane to enter Lucky Cave to help.
You Su, head lowered, mingled into the crowd, struggling to calm himself. His worry stemmed not from Wu Cheng but from the Dream-eating Ghost that lurked manipulating illusions somewhere.
Several townsfolk struggling to squeeze out of the cave seemed to breathe fresh air like drowning victims; they desperately raised themselves, trying to crawl out completely, yet suddenly, as if gripped by a water ghost at their ankle, they were brutally pulled back down.
The entire cave entrance suddenly emptied, leaving a handsome young man supporting the ground with one hand, elegantly jumping out.
"Mr. Wu, your... your leg is healed?" a cultivator asked shakily.
"It’s no longer a problem." Wu Cheng paused, then patted the man’s shoulder warmly, "I remember it was you who discovered me with Mr. Bai this morning, thank you."
The cultivator, of low status, merely an outer sect disciple of the Profound Sky Sect, was momentarily filled with pride at being thanked by the usually aloof Wu Cheng.
"It’s my duty, Mr. Wu."
"Alright, I’m off to report to Mr. Bai."
After speaking, Wu Cheng surveyed those around him, licking his lips as he looked towards the open side door, ready to step out when he heard the cultivator mutter to himself:
"Lucky it was Mr. Wu who survived..."
Finishing his words, the cultivator was shocked to see Wu Cheng return, hands on his shoulders, staring into his eyes, frightening him greatly as he asked:
"Wh-what is it, Mr. Wu?"
Seeing Wu Cheng’s sinister smile, the cultivator wondered how someone with such a good appearance could have such an ugly smile.
"As gratitude, I’ve given you a gift."
Wu Cheng patted his shoulder like a reward, then dashed toward the side door, vanishing into the fog.
The cultivator stood stunned, unable to understand what gift Wu Cheng meant, when suddenly people screamed around him. In the next instant, a blood-colored octopus stretched its tentacles out from his orifices, sucking him dry.
...
"Brother, where should we hide?"
Ji Lingruo, now on the ground, kept pace hand in hand with You Su through the fog.
They were in a small alley, the mist obscuring the outlines of low walls on both sides. They had slipped away from the City Lord’s mansion amidst the chaos and had run quite a distance by now.
You Su suddenly stopped, causing Ji Lingruo, unprepared, to bump into him.
"We’re not hiding." You Su steadied Ji Lingruo, his tone icy, "We’re waiting to kill someone."
Ji Lingruo’s beautiful eyes widened, soon realizing who You Su meant.
Just then, faint footsteps sounded. Ji Lingruo hurriedly moved away from You Su, turning to face the alley entrance where the footsteps came from.
"Why’d you stop running? You Su, I’m not done chasing you."
Wu Cheng’s tall silhouette emerged in the fog, his face serene, like an old friend coming for a chat.
"You’re possessed." You Su shielded Ji Lingruo behind him, the Mo Song Sword already unsheathed, its whisper in his grip.
"Aren’t you as well?" Wu Cheng shrugged like it was nothing to worry about.
"Your brother would be ashamed of you." You Su lowered himself, eyes dark as ink.
Wu Cheng’s expression tightened imperceptibly: "What are you talking about? I only have a younger brother, not an older brother."
"Stop pretending, Wu Ping. Someone like you carries a stench, even worse than that of supernatural entities."
At these words, Wu Cheng hurriedly sniffed his chest, frowning slightly. He couldn’t detect any foul odor.
You Su laughed at his actions, a laugh that chilled Wu Cheng, revealing hostility.
"Did you think by stench I meant literal odor? Wu Ping, your ugliness can’t be hidden behind any skin."
Wu Cheng raised his head slightly, staring coldly at You Su: "My mother didn’t figure it out, so how did you?"
"Your brother defended your master fervently last night; how could he abandon him and come crawling over here like you did?"
Wu Cheng laughed angrily, his tone relaxed as he spoke: 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Is it wrong to want to live on? Everyone told me, lucky Wu Cheng survived, as if all thought I should die out there. Even my mother did, so I sent her to see her only son."
You Su gripped his sword tightly, recalling the first woman devoured by the supernatural entity earlier.
"I’m the only one grateful that it’s me, Wu Ping, who survived! Because only by living can I take revenge on you bunch who judge by appearance like animals!"
"If that’s truly how you feel, why use your brother’s body?"
Wu Cheng smirked, his expression serene:
"What are you saying? I ate his flesh, what’s grown on me, how can it be his body?"
