Fairy Tail Destiny-Chapter 71: Ch : Madness and Destruction
Chapter 71: Ch 71 : Madness and Destruction
"Finally, you've come out?" Nord looked at the several elders from the Elder Council standing before him, especially Claude and Hughes, who were standing at the forefront.
"This is quite a big fuss, isn't it, Mr. Nord Rutherford? It's time to end this, or else others might start to doubt whether my creation is a failure," Hughes shrugged, his tone casual, but the expression on his face was dark and grim.
Claude, Nord's father, said nothing.
His eyes were emotionless as they fixed on Nord, his face betraying no expression, like a stranger.
"Did you come out to have me kill you?" Nord's voice was calm, so calm that it betrayed no emotion, but it was this very calmness that sent a chill down the spines of everyone present.
"Heh," Upon hearing Nord's words, Hughes forced back the chill creeping up his spine and sneered. "Do you really think you're invincible now? Nord, we could elevate you to the throne, and we can just as easily bring you down."
Nord didn't waste time talking with Hughes.
The golden divine power wrapping around him radiated a brilliant light, and he began to chant, "[Declaration of the God King : My word is truth, and before me, all is but illusion.]"
As the words left his mouth, the space in front of Nord instantly shattered.
Black lines appeared, crisscrossing the void.
The elders' council members, seeing this bizarre sight, all took several steps back.
With a sharp cracking sound, the space finally could no longer bear the inexplicable force and collapsed, forming a pitch-black hole.
A tremendous gravitational force emanated from the black hole, as though it would suck everyone present into it.
At this moment of crisis, a beam of black light suddenly descended from the sky and tore the black hole apart.
"What?" Nord's gaze wavered slightly as he watched the scene.
The black light that had torn apart the black hole suddenly transformed into a chain, wrapping around Nord's body.
It felt as if a powerful current had surged through his body, instantly paralyzing him.
"What is this?" Although Nord's body was paralyzed, his mind remained calm.
"Nord Rutherford." Suddenly, a voice rang out from the sky.
A black sword materialized, floating in the air.
Although the sword was small, it emanated an ancient and supreme aura.
Nord even felt that if this sword pierced his body, he would die, even if he was as powerful as he was.
Below the sword, in midair, there was a massive magic circle.
Several elders from the Elder Council stood at the corners of the magic circle, with the highest-ranking elder standing at the center.
The one speaking was the elderly man with white hair and a beard that reached the ground, the High Elder of the Rutherford Family Elder Council.
The High Elder coldly looked at Nord: "Nord Rutherford, the family nurtured you, and this is how you treat the family?"
"Nurtured?" Upon hearing the High Elder's words, Nord clenched his fists in anger, and the black chains around him were gradually repelled by his golden divine power: "This is just what you think, right? Me and Lia never thought this way. No matter how you treat me, I don't care... I really don't care... I can bear all of it, but you people, you don't even spare Lia. I cannot forgive you, absolutely cannot forgive you!!!"
The High Elder snorted coldly: "Contributing to the family is your duty. If you can contribute to the family's prosperity, it's your blessing. You have no gratitude, and yet you still do this. It's an unforgivable crime. Useless, don't struggle anymore. The black chains around you are the energy of the [Sword of Judgment]. The [Sword of Judgment] is a divine artifact that drank the blood of the Gods during the Twilight of the Gods. If your divine power were pure enough, you might be able to break free. But right now, you can only be suppressed. Now, I'll give you a chance. Kneel and repent to us, or else we will use the [Sword of Judgment] to kill you and find another to bear the divine will. Even though your bloodline purity is high, don't think you're irreplaceable."
So the black sword in the sky was called the [Sword of Judgment].
Looking at the sword, Nord knew that the High Elder had not lied.
This sword could indeed kill him, but... so what?
He had nothing left to cling to.
So, what does it matter if he dies?
The golden divine power seemed to sense Nord's thoughts, and it actually managed to pull the black chains made from the energy of the [Sword of Judgment] a few centimeters away from his body.
The High Elder's expression changed: "Very well, you've given your answer. [Sword of Judgment], kill this traitor!"
As if hearing the High Elder's command, the black and deadly sword, [Sword of Judgment], floating above the magic circle, moved.
It transformed into a beam of black sword light, striking toward Nord with a force like thunder.
No words could describe the power of this strike.
Time seemed to stop, space shattered into pieces.
The terrifying blade had not even touched Nord's body, yet it had already left several bloody scratches on his face.
For a moment, all that Nord saw were the glimmers of the sword's light.
In the face of the imminent threat to his life, memories from the past flooded into Nord's mind.
A blood pool, with faces of wailing people forming bubbles,
A village, covered in blood and bodies.
A torrential rain falling from the sky,
A pink-haired girl, smiling with bloodstains,
A brown-haired boy, lifeless and cold.
These flashes of memories turned Nord's eyes blood-red in an instant.
"You all will die. All of you must die!! You are not worthy to live as humans. You do not deserve it! You who have defiled life, let me personally bury you all!!
[Divine Light Magic, Chapter Ten, Forbidden Chapter, Third Section – Divine Forbidden Art, The Lament of the Gods]."
The two wings on Nord's back broke off at the base, blood spraying from the broken parts.
The severed wings immediately fused into Nord's body, and in an instant, a terrifying aura surged into the sky, dispersing the dark clouds above and keeping the [Sword of Judgment] at bay in mid-air.
"What!!" Everyone present was horrified by the scene.
[The Lament of the Gods] was recorded in the Divine Light King's divinity, and was known as a forbidden technique in Chapter Ten of the Forbidden Chapter.
It sacrifices the wings on the back, greatly enhancing one's power for a short period of time.
This was a forbidden technique—after all, the wings on a god's back were not mere decoration, but a proof of rank.
The more wings, the higher the rank.
Unlike the [Eternal Light Coffin], which required the massive energy of the wings and caused the wings to fall into a dormant state after their energy was stripped, [The Lament of the Gods] truly sacrificed the wings.

To replenish them would take years and enormous energy, and it could even cause a drop in divine rank if mishandled.
So, this was a desperate, all-out move.
After using this technique, Nord's aura became overwhelmingly powerful.
His transformed body even began to tear from the overwhelming force, and as he punched, the [Sword of Judgment] collided with his fist.
The point of impact between the two forces locked in a stalemate, causing space to twist, shatter, and even time to warp and reverse.
In the end, the [Sword of Judgment] couldn't withstand the immense power.
Cracks appeared along its blade, and Nord's punch drove the sword into the chaotic space-time rift.
"How is this possible, how is this possible!!" The High Elder looked at Nord in disbelief, as if thinking this was just his illusion, but reality told him that everything was true.
Nord looked at him coldly, the six-pointed star in his right eye spinning wildly, a drop of blood flowing down from his right eye: "Die, all of you die, [Divine Light Magic, Chapter Seven, Section Six, Supreme Divine Punishment]."
Countless massive golden light beams descended from the sky, continuously striking Flandel City, turning the city into a purgatory.
In an instant, the entire Flandel City was surrounded by a sea of flames, the sounds of screams and wails forming the most tragic of symphonies.
Nord's hand gripped Claude's neck.
The other members of the Elder Council and Hughes had already perished in the earlier [Supreme Divine Punishment], but Claude had been spared, intentionally controlled by Nord's power.
"Why... why did you send me and Lia into the laboratory as test subjects... why?"
Nord's voice was low and slow, the shadow cast by his silver hair obscuring his expression.
He asked the question he had always wanted to know, why, why would his father treat him and Lia this way.
Claude looked at Nord, his usually cold face finally showing a trace of emotion—sadness, hatred, and pain.
"Because... I hated you both..."
"....."
"Why were you born? Your birth took her life. So, I hated you, hated you for so long, I wished you were dead. But... you were the only thing she left me, so I agreed to the Elder Council's plan..."
With a crack, Claude's neck was forcefully snapped by Nord, and the life in his eyes slowly faded away.
Nord let go of his hand, and Claude's body collapsed to the ground, but the lifeless Claude's face carried a hint of a relieved smile.
In that moment, Nord didn't know if he was crying or laughing.
If he was crying, why was he laughing so madly?
If he was laughing, why couldn't the tears stop falling from his eyes?
Why?
Why had it turned out like this... It shouldn't have been this way...
This outcome, I don't want it... I don't want it!!!
Nord looked at the devastation around Flandel City and laughed maniacally:
"Hahahaha, isn't this the power you wanted? Isn't this the power you've been chasing all along?? Then go die!! All of you die!! Destroy everything!! If you're going to hate, then hate the filthy blood flowing in your veins, if you're going to hate, then hate being born into such a filthy family!! Anyway, I have nothing left to lose, so let me destroy everything, hahahahaha. Destroy it all, hahahaha."
The dark clouds were scattered, and the second phase of the Supreme Divine Punishment was activated.
Endless golden light slid down from the sky, but this light was the death's summons.
Everything under this golden light was disintegrated into the smallest particles, and nothing could escape.
-----------------
Several weeks later, people were shocked to find that the place where Flandel City once stood had turned into a barren plain.
For hundreds of miles around, not even a blade of grass could be found.
The once powerful family—the Rutherford family—had also disappeared without a trace.
There were many rumors; some said the family had moved away, while others claimed they had been exterminated.
The major forces across the continent exerted all their efforts to investigate, but they found nothing.
