Chapter 487: 487

Natsu considered himself a reasonable guy. Since Rhodes’s plan made so much sense, they might as well go with it. If it meant laying low, then fine, they’d hide.

He had originally wanted to suggest that Wendy use Troia to help with motion sickness, but then he remembered, Wendy couldn’t use her magic right now either.

So, the group quietly left the city and found a well-hidden spot in the nearby forest. There, Lucy summoned Gemini.

"Whirr! Whirr!"

Two tiny blue figures materialized with a puff of light, spinning around in the air like they were cheering for an imaginary audience.

Gemi chimed in, "What can we help with today?"

Mini followed, "What are we helping with today?"

Lucy put on a serious face. "Gemini, this is a very important mission. Listen carefully."

Rhodes cut in. "It’ll take too long to explain. Why not just have them transform into you and read the plan directly?"

"Oh, right!" Lucy slapped her forehead. "Why didn’t I think of that sooner? Wait, why are you more familiar with Celestial Spirit abilities than I am?!"

Rhodes shrugged. "After we ran into that cloaked woman, I did my homework. I made sure to study Gemini in detail. But this isn’t the time to argue. Just do it."

"Gemini, transform into me and read the battle plan from my mind!"

"Whirr! Whirr!"

Gemi and Mini joined hands, their short arms spinning around each other, and with a puff of smoke, they transformed into a perfect copy of Lucy.

However...

Rhodes looked up at the sky and sighed. ’It was supposed to be a flawless plan, so why is everything weird the moment Lucy’s involved?’

"Miss Lucy..." Wendy covered her mouth, unsure how to react. She hadn’t gone to the bath with Lucy the previous day, and now she was witnessing something even more outrageous.

"So the Lucy from Earth Land is just as bold as the one from Edolas," Lisanna mused aloud. She suddenly felt more certain than ever that what happened earlier between Lucy and Rhodes wasn’t his fault. Clearly, Lucy was the common denominator.

"That’s not true!" Lucy protested, red-faced. "And what kind of image are you trying to project of me here?!"

Then she turned and yelled at the Gemini who had copied her. "Hey, you! Why are you wearing a towel?!"

"Because last time Lucy summoned us, she was wearing a bath towel," Gemini answered innocently. "We can only take on the form we last touched."

Still holding the towel casually, they added, "If Lucy doesn’t like the towel, we can just take it off."

Lucy leapt forward and grabbed both of them in a panic. "Don’t even think about it! Just read the plan and change back already!"

Meanwhile, Natsu turned his head and muttered to Happy, "Lucy sure is loud today."

"Aye," Happy agreed. "She’s always this noisy."

"You two are the last ones who should be saying that!" Lucy shouted back at them.

Poof!

With a puff of white smoke, Gemini returned to their original form.

Whirr! Whirr!

"We’ve got the whole plan memorized!"

"Time to seize the ship!"

The two tiny blue Celestial Spirits spun midair and zipped off swiftly toward the city.

Meanwhile, Lucy suddenly lost her balance and fell flat on the ground. "Oww! Seriously, those two are always like this!"

Thankfully, she was wearing shorts today instead of a skirt, otherwise, things might’ve gotten even more chaotic. novelbuddy-cσ๓

Rhodes sighed without turning to look. "Lisanna."

"Hm?"

"When we get back, your onii-san will take you to Magnolia’s best dessert shop. You can order whatever you want."

Lisanna blinked in surprise, then narrowed her eyes with a mischievous grin. "Okay~ Thank you, onii-san~"

Rhodes gave a small nod, then turned serious again. "Alright, let’s get moving too. If Gemini fails, we’ll move to Plan B."

"Aye!" Happy flapped over and landed on Rhodes’s shoulder, ready to take off at a moment’s notice.

If Gemini couldn’t complete the infiltration, the ship would most likely attempt a quick emergency takeoff to protect the precious magic crystal. That meant Happy would have to carry Rhodes at full MAXSPEED to catch up. Once in the air, they’d be on their own with no backup.

Meanwhile, in the center of Sycca City, a modest plaza had been specially designed for docking airships, allowing them to land and resupply as needed.

At this very moment, a massive airship had just descended and settled onto the platform.

Because this particular shipment carried an extremely valuable magic crystal, most of the city guard had been assigned to protect the site.

A squad of armored soldiers disembarked, greeting the local officer in charge to begin the resupply and handover procedures.

The officer’s eyes gleamed with awe as he stared up at the enormous crystal suspended inside the ship’s cargo bay.

Bathed in the light of Edolas’s nine suns, the magic crystal shimmered with dazzling brilliance, glowing with clarity and power.

"How beautiful," the man murmured in admiration.

The squad captain chuckled, clearly in high spirits. "Of course it’s beautiful. But in just two more days, all of that beauty will be transformed into pure magic power."

The others around them wore expressions that bordered on religious reverence.

Magic power, soon they’d have unlimited access to it.

While they were caught up in their excitement, two tiny blue figures silently slipped aboard the airship, zigzagging through shadows and dodging curious eyes with expert precision.

They were no strangers to infiltration. Their former contractor, Angel, had often tasked them with missions like this.

Though they usually chattered loudly, when it came to real work, Gemini could be remarkably focused.

They tiptoed across the deck like seasoned spies, carefully sneaking up behind one of the standing guards. With a quick tap on his ankle, they made contact, then just as quickly darted into the ship’s interior.

The two little Celestial Spirits huddled close together, and with a soft puff of smoke, they transformed into the soldier they had just touched.

"Second-class soldier Soga. Age: 26. Single. Enjoys card games. Harbors a secret he’d rather die than reveal, secretly has a crush on Erza, captain of the Second Magic Warfare Unit."

"Why do adults always think about such things?" Gemi muttered.

"No idea. And it’s completely useless info anyway," Mini replied.

"Okay, let’s focus. The mission this time is to transport the magic crystal back to the royal capital. The pilot’s name is Deul, and the cockpit is located...."

If anyone had been watching, they would’ve seen ’Soga’ quietly muttering to himself while heading toward the airship’s cockpit.

The door swung open. Inside, the pilot was stretching with a groggy yawn. "Ugh, flying for so long really wears you out, Soga? What are you doing here?"

’Soga’ casually closed the door behind him. "Standing guard’s boring," he said with a shrug. "So I figured I’d come visit. Deul, wanna play some cards?"

Deul gave a tired laugh. "Won’t you get punished for ditching your post?"

’Soga’ leaned his spear against the nearby wall. "There are plenty of guards outside, and the city’s sent reinforcements. You won’t snitch, and I don’t like standing around anyway. I like card games. So? You in?"

"Why are you so chatty today?" Deul raised an eyebrow. Something about Soga’s tone felt off, almost like two voices were fighting to talk at once.

Still, he didn’t think much of it and turned toward the door. "Forget it. Let’s head out. We can play at your post. I’m off duty anyway, at least until the resupply is finished."

"You forgot your hat. I’ll grab it for you." ’Soga’ moved past him quickly.

And just like that, Deul was struck sharply on the back of the head, and collapsed to the floor, unconscious.

With a puff, ’Soga’ split back into two small blue figures.

Gemi and Mini gave each other a quick high-five and wiggled happily in midair.

"Mission success!!"

They’d done this kind of ambush plenty of times before, but lately they had started feeling weaker than usual. They were actually a bit worried whether they could still knock someone out in one hit.

So they carefully followed "Rhodes’s advice to Lucy," and immediately gagged and tied up Deul to make sure he couldn’t cause any trouble if he woke up early.

Then Gemini quickly transformed into Deul, slipping perfectly into his uniform and sliding into the pilot’s seat.

"Transformation time: 5 minutes max."

"And Lucy’s magic power won’t hold much longer either."

"We’ve gotta move fast."

"No problem. Getting this thing to fly out of the city won’t even take five minutes."

’Deul’ mumbled to himself, hands flying over the controls as the airship hummed to life.
