Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 314: Jealous
Ella stepped out of the car, her heels clicking against the stone pavement as the driver quietly shut the door behind her. The night air had cooled, but her skin still felt too warm—flushed from the memory of Sidney’s hand, his voice, the veiled offer dressed in polite words.
The house Dale had arranged for her was dark when she entered, save for the motion sensor lights that blinked on in the foyer. She locked the door behind her, then double-checked it, a new habit that had been inculcated into her, thanks to Dale’s paranoia for protection.
She didn’t bother turning on any other lights. Instead, she walked straight to the kitchen, placing the untouched champagne glass down on the counter like it might explode if she wasn’t careful. Her fingers lingered at the base before she finally let go.
Was it him?
She leaned against the kitchen island, arms crossed tightly, replaying every detail of that encounter. Sidney had approached her. He had said the words. Just like they had told Dale would do. But it could not be Sidney.
Maybe it was a coincidence. After all, Sidney Price didn’t operate in the shadows. At least, not the way these trafficking rings did. He was too high-profile. Too publicly antagonistic toward Aiden to risk being involved in something this covert. Unless...
Unless that was the point.
She walked to the living room, turned on a dim light, and sat on the edge of the couch, still in her gown. The hem pooled around her, and she barely noticed the cold air brushing her back where his hand had rested.
He’d said exactly what she expected to hear from the one who approached her, but maybe that was the problem. It had been too perfect.
She looked down at her phone and opened the contact information Sidney had shared, insisting that they should meet up for coffee sometime soon. His name stared back at her. Last she knew, he’d been engaged to Serena’s cousin or something.
Could he really be the one?
Still in thought, she backed out of the contact page and typed out a message to Dale to update him, "I met Sidney today. He is Aiden’s half-brother and Serena’s ex. What do you think? Could it be..."
Before she could hit send, a notification appeared. A message from Sidney. She raised her brows. Now that was quick. "Did you get home safely?"
Another message came before she could answer: "I hope I didn’t come on too strong. It was good meeting you tonight. Maybe we could talk more. I’d love to catch up with old friends."
She read the texts twice. Straightforward words, but too well-timed. Too quick.
With a sigh, she typed out a message," Lets meet tomorrow?"
"For breakfast?" came the pat reply and she blinked.
Well this was... Too pushy. If the person wanted to lure her to smuggle drugs and get her into high class pros*itution etc, this was too much. They should have gone slower. Right?
She deleted the half-typed message to Dale and opened Sidney’s chat window, "Okay."
"Then I’ll wait for you at Blue Mountain Coffee Place. See you then."
Ella rolled her eyes at the quickness of it and threw aside her phone. Well, she’d know tomorrow either way. With that, she walked towards her bedroom and then almost had a fright when she was caught from behind and pushed towards the wall of her room.
After a moment, instinct kicked in and she was about to kick the person trying to hold her down when she felt his breath on her cheek," Its me."
She relaxed instantly and slumped against the wall," What are you doing here, Dale."
"I told you to message me as soon as you got home." Dale whispered near her ear and she had to close her eyes to stop her reaction to him. Dam* it! Her body seemed to have some sort of a chemical reaction around him! It should have been done by now.
"I was about to message you. But then Sidney messaged me. And why are you even here? Didn’t you say that since I am already on their radar, you would stop coming here."
"They’ve established contact tonight." Dale said and she pushed at him. The man seemed to have forgotten he was pressing her into the wall.
" Nobody contacted me." Ella said slowly.
"Are you sure?I have confirmation that the contact was established tonight.", Dale asked and she knew he was wondering if he was wrong.
Ella stiffend at that. Could it really be Sidney? Or maybe there was a mistake? She sighed and explained," No new person contacted me. I did have an old acquaintance approach me. Sidney Price. He is a businessman, Aiden’s rival and half brother and Serena’s ex. And he is known to everyone so why would he get into something like this..."
Dale scoffed at that," I thought I’d driven the naivety out of you, Ella. You think this Sidney person is not the contact? Don’t you think that just like they would be planning to ensnare you, they would not have ways to make anyone comply. If you have done anything shady or worthy of hiding then you have given ammunition to them. They will use it against you.
The organisation is not made of fools. They sent Sidney to you because you would not have your guard up against him and you already know that he hates Aiden so you would be open to him. So, congratulations, your contact tonight has been established."
Ella nodded, her hands clenching at her sides. It seemed she really had not learnt much. Still, she wanted to give people whom she knew to be treacerous a chance. She sighed.
"So, when he contact you next time, just let me know the time and location and I’ll set up surveillance."
Ella sighed and then showed him her phone,"Here."
Dale took the phone from her hand and raised an eyebrow, not saying anything else. But she could see it in his expression that he was judging her. And then his words confirmed it," It seems you are quite eager to meet your previous crush as well. Anyway, good. I will make the arrangements."
