Chapter 698 Concerned Ivy

News of Charles's death did not take long to spread like wildfire. It was not just a simple matter anymore. A murder at one of the finest hospitals in the country and that too, a second one in just a span of few months, it was too shocking and a ruckus greater than anyone had imagined erupted.

The hospital management was going crazy in their attempts to find solutions to control the damage. But in vain. The damage had been done and it was not long before a committee was formed to investigate the situation.

Despite being in such a mess and with all the frustration and rage building inside him as time passed, Ian held on and thought of ways to control the situation.

It was one matter that Theo had miraculously survived and had even murdered a patient in his hospital. But it was another matter that he was now in deep waters and it would take him a lot of convincing and careful approaches to get himself out of the trouble the man had put him in.

However, before he could meet the investigation committee that had been in just an hour since the news about Charles's murder had spread, reports of the murderer surrendering to the police surfaced. And once again, chaos erupted and the people ordered to investigate the matter could only look at each other in confusion.

Everyone had the same thought in mind. 'If you wanted to report yourself, could you not have done it quickly? Why did you wait until the committee was formed and waste all our time and efforts? How annoying!!'

Even before they could start their work, they had to leave due to orders from the senior management. How tiresome!

Ian, Joshua and Ivy were the ones most surprised by the unexpected news. They had not expected the situation just to turn around this quickly and they did not even have to do anything about it at all. Heck, they were yet to inform Noah about the murder and Theo, of course, and Charles's body was yet to undergo the post-mortem procedure.

"That was fast." Ivy commented as she looked at the 'hot' news on her phone. "This saves us quite a lot of trouble."

Ian and Joshua did not comment a word as they too watched the news silently, waiting for the man's face to pop up and just when it did, their eyes widened for a moment.

"This is so fucked up." Joshua cursed and ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

"What's wrong now?" Ivy blinked, perplexed to find him all worked up. "What happened?" She too stared at the murderer on the screen and resembled nothing like Theo.

Ivy looked back and forth between the two men and looking at their troubled expressions, she did not know how to react.

'Shouldn't they be happy that it is not Theo they are looking at? At least they can now be relieved. But what's with their expressions? Why does it seem like they have swallowed a goat? What went wrong?' Of course, she did not voice out her thoughts and stared blankly.

"This man is not Theo." Ian pointed out and Ivy raised her brows in confusion.

"Yes, it is not and isn't that a good thing?"

"But his gait, way of speaking, even his expressions resembles that of Theo, especially his eyes."

Ivy took a closer look at the man immediately. But she was helpless in this matter. She had only seen Theo on the video her father had recorded and other than the faint glance, she knew nothing about it.

"So, what are you guys trying to say? Is there something I am not catching upon?" She frowned slightly and her gaze settled on Joshua as she looked for an explanation.

"Ivy," Joshua sighed and looked at her. "We believe that Theo murdered Charles, but this man here," He pointed at the man who had surrendered to the police, "Is just taking the blame on his behalf."

"But why would he do that?" Ivy blurted out and only after the words had left her lips that she realized how dumb the question sounded. Just like her, Ian and Joshua too were learning the truth right then. How could they possibly know why the man had taken the blame for Theo?

"That is an answer only Theo can give us," Ian replied with his gaze lowered. Neither Ivy nor Joshua knew what he was contemplating. His face was impassive and impossible to read and Joshua did not know what to feel for him.

"What are we going to do now?" Ivy asked after a few moments of tense silence. "There might be media rushing to cover this news and just because the investigation team was asked to return halfway does not mean they will not come over here." She pursed her lips, her frown deepening until creases formed on her forehead. "Charles was murdered in this hospital and the staff here too will be questioned for their negligence."

Ivy pointed out the problem the man had ignored for a moment and Ian stood up immediately, his eyes filled with helplessness and fatigue.

"I don't know what to do anymore. How am I supposed to handle this mess? My mind is all blank and unresponsive." Google search 𝗳𝔯e𝒆𝙬𝘦𝙗𝓷o𝘷el. c૦𝑚

Ivy's eyes flashed with a strange light when an idea popped into her mind and she looked at the two men, contemplating it carefully. "How about we do this?"

Ivy revealed her plan slowly and the two men listened to her patiently; as they listened, their gazes changed and they looked at her in a new light.

"The plan is brilliant, Ivy. This might help us control the damage to some extent." Joshua exclaimed, his lips arching up into a relieved smile.

"We could do it. It's risky, but it's the best I could come up with in such a short span."

A few moments later, the three people exited Ian's office. While Ian went to handle the rowdy crowd and the media, Ivy and Joshua followed him from a distance.

"Ian seems a bit took shaken. What's wrong?" Ivy asked the question that had been bugging her mind for a long time. She had noticed how the men reacted when speaking about Theo. While Joshua was shocked, as was expected of him, Ian had shut himself down entirely and was behaving completely unlike him.

"What do you mean?" Joshua raised his bros questioningly at her and slowed his steps down to match her pace.

"I do not know. I understand that this is a problematic situation right now and you are expected to react this way. However, why do I feel that Ian is more devastated than you are? Or am I wrong?"

"I understand what you are referring to you." Joshua sighed and stopped walking, forcing Ivy to halt beside him. "Among the three of us, Ian was the closest to Theo. The man looked after him like his son and Ian too had taken him as his father. So it is understandable that Ian is reacting this way." Joshua glanced at Ian's back before he returned his gaze to Ivy.

"Ian has had a traumatic childhood, Ivy and I am uncertain how horrible aghast he is to think that the man he admired and respected the most had turned out to be like this." Joshua sighed and shook his head lightly. "To him, it is a bigger blow than anything that could ever happen. I am just worried that although he is putting up a mask and forcing himself to stay calm, he must be breaking from within and it will not be long before he snaps."

Joshua closed his eyes and raised his head. "And when Ian snaps, he destroys, which is the last thing we want to see."

Joshua had not revealed much. But Ivy more or less understood what he was trying to convey and she too looked in the direction Ian had gone.

"He is the calmest among us and I can count on my fingers the times he has snapped. But every time, it was bloody and frightening."

"Then, we should keep an eye on him. We cannot allow that to happen."

"Do you think you'll be able to stop him?" Joshua smiled helplessly and pressed his nose. "When Ian loses control, nobody can stop him. Nobody. I just hope it does not reach that stage and we will be able to come up with something to end this chaos. Ian does not need more drama in his life."

Ivy did not reply and the couple started walking in the direction Ian had gone. However, her mind was filled with thoughts while her heart was concerned for the man, who had shown his most vulnerable side in front of her for the second time in his life.
