Falling into Her Trap: Don't Cross the Line, Mr. President-Chapter 146: Flaunting Their Love, the Ex-Boyfriend Is Furious!
Ethan Blackwood pulled Claire Shaw close by the waist, boldly and directly declaring, "Sis-in-law, this is my girlfriend Claire Shaw. Sweetie, call her sis-in-law."
A moment ago, Yvonne Crawford’s smile was radiant, but now her face was hurting.
Ethan deliberately raised Claire’s status, letting the Crawford Family know how much he valued Claire.
Claire cooperated and called out, "Sis-in-law."
Yvonne Crawford was petrified on the spot, forgetting to respond.
"What’s wrong? She called you," Elliot Blackwood, unaware of what his dear wife had done, smiled and tried to smooth things over.
"Ms. Shaw, don’t mind her, they say pregnancy makes you foolish for three years, your sis-in-law’s reactions have gotten a bit slow."
Claire fully understood the reason and didn’t expose it, "I understand."
Elliot nudged Yvonne Crawford’s arm with his elbow, and she finally came to her senses.
Even though she didn’t understand how Claire became Ethan’s girlfriend, she quickly replaced her expression with a smile: "Come, this way please, Ms. Shaw is lovely, she matches well with Ethan."
Claire found it amusing, that despite usually being arrogant in front of her, Yvonne was acting particularly obedient in front of the Blackwood Family.
"Really? That’s not what sis-in-law said before."
Claire calmly spoke out, immediately drawing Elliot’s attention.
"Oh? You’ve met before?" He felt a bit curious, as not long ago Yvonne didn’t even know Claire, fearing that the gift prepared might not be to Claire’s liking.
"We’ve met."
Yvonne was afraid Claire would mention today’s incident at the brand store, quickly interrupting: "Ran into Ms. Shaw at the counter today, didn’t know then that she was Ethan’s girlfriend. Had I known, I’d have let her pick it herself."
Saying this, Yvonne produced a whole set of pink diamond jewelry, vivid pink loose diamonds costing over six million each, meticulously designed and intricately crafted.
Claire had spent a year at SN, originally, this series was something she had worked on as a CEO assistant; no one knew its price better than her.
The Crawford Family truly went all out today, showing considerable regard for her.
"Ms. Shaw, with your fair skin and young age, you’ll look stunning in this."
Yvonne took out a ring and intended to put it on her hand, "Try the size first, if it’s not right I’ll have them adjust it anytime."
Claire raised her hand to stop her, "Thank you for your kindness, sis-in-law, but I already have a ring and there’s no room for another."
She was naturally indifferent, treating everyone at school like this except for children.
Neither ingratiating nor flattering, never catering, her demeanor cold and distant as if nothing mattered.
Beside her, Owen Crawford saw the simple styled plain ring on Claire’s hand, feeling an indescribable pang of sorrow.
In the past, he had given Claire a ring, too.
Though he never intended to marry Claire, his love for her was real; if it weren’t for family constraints, he had genuinely considered spending a lifetime with Claire.
He had proposed, Claire wasn’t happy; she was flustered, even refusing to accept the large diamond ring he custom-ordered abroad.
Yet now, her finger bore a ring gifted by another man.
Owen asked with difficulty, "Did my uncle propose?"
Claire met his slightly sorrowful gaze, she was somewhat puzzled.
Stella could be explained by family reasons, but what about Yasmin?
He had betrayed her countless times already, yet now played the victim questioning her.
Even Claire, usually composed, felt anger rise; how could he dare? How does he qualify?
At that moment, warmth enveloped her hand as it was tucked into Ethan Blackwood’s large hand; their fingers interlocked as he smiled slightly, "In the works."
These five words carried immense information, offering boundless imagination space.
Owen’s scheming was clearly understood by Ethan—he wasn’t simply asking about the proposal.
Instead, questioning how he felt about Claire, declaring no proposal would indicate treating Claire as a mere plaything.
Saying yes would make Claire feel pressured into marriage.
These five words were the perfect answer.
Claire silently admired Ethan’s subtlety; first, not putting her in a difficult position, second, giving her ample face.
He seemed to love her to the extreme!
As their clasped hands lay within Owen’s view, he realized Ethan also wore a similar plain ring to Claire.
Clearly a man of such high status, yet willing to go this far for a woman. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Other married men avoided wearing rings to prevent gossip; he wore one after just dating, instantly declaring to other women that he was taken.
Owen was consumed with jealousy, jealousy beyond reason!
He thought Ethan was merely playing with Claire, yet clearly, this wasn’t the case.
Everyone hopes their ex lives poorly after a breakup, so he felt smug seeing Claire drive a car worth tens of thousands.
Thinking Claire debased herself, believing she couldn’t lead a good life away from him.
But reality slapped him hard; Ethan’s identity alone overshadowed him, crushed his so-called male pride.
Elliot Blackwood, clueless about their personal grudges, simply thought Claire was being polite, hurriedly encouraged: "I think this necklace looks nice, Ethan try it on your girlfriend, Ms. Shaw is sure to suit it."
Ethan, gazing at the dazzling necklace in the velvet jewelry box, curled his lips into a subtle smile: "Indeed, the necklace is beautiful, but my dear Ms. Shaw is always low-key."
"True, if Ms. Shaw marries into the Blackwood Family, she’ll need to wear it for certain occasions, this is a token from your brother and sister-in-law for you, Ethan, you wouldn’t deny them this gesture? Or does Ms. Shaw find the gift lacking?"
Elliot was crafty, offering Claire no valid reason to refuse.
Ethan chuckled, "Since that’s the case, I’ll thank my brother and sister-in-law on Ms. Shaw’s behalf, actually I do think the necklace suits her."
He reached to take it, "Sweetie, I’ll put this on you."
Claire intended to refuse but didn’t want to embarrass him in public, so she obediently listened.
Ethan’s hands circled her neck, fastening the necklace, whispering gently near Claire’s nape: "Sweetie, you’re lovely."
They resembled entwined swans, deeply entwined.
A faint blush appearing on Claire’s face, shy and endearing.
That view Owen had never witnessed, nearly enraging him!
Claire knew Ethan was as upright as he was cunning; today Owen would truly learn.
Watching Owen’s eyes grow bloodshot.
Like a rabid dog, wanting to bark yet powerless, just glaring at her.
And Claire cooperated with a smile, "Thank you, Ethan~"
