Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror-Chapter 101 - 98: Siege_2
"Stop right there!"
Lu Sisi hastened to intercept Ji Dengqi with the An-surnamed man, while Li Tongya reached out to catch the long staff. The Ji Family's Qi Cultivator was already heading south at full speed, his True Yuan bright and clear, seeming to have ingested minor River Essence Qi.
Li Tongya flew after him, propelled by the surging River True Essence. He was a fraction faster than the man, who turned to throw several Fetal Breathing Realm Talismans, causing Li Tongya a pang of distress.
"That's my spoils of war."
Li Tongya dispersed the oncoming spells with a single sword strike, already making comparisons in his mind.
The True Yuan refined from River Essence Qi was richer than minor River Essence Qi, and his flight speed was also slightly faster, though it was a bit slower in maneuverability, which was of little consequence.
After flying dozens of miles, Li Tongya's sword pierced through the man's Protective True Yuan with a slash, followed by a direct stab into the man's back. The young man screamed in agony and fell to the ground, twisting and writhing in pain.
Li Tongya slowly followed, observing the young man in such pain that he couldn't hold onto his spells, bleeding profusely with a resounding crack of broken bones, yet he still reached for his Storage Bag. Li Tongya, quick as lightning, severed the man's arm with his sword. Watching the man roll in unbearable pain, he mercifully ended his life with a backhand stroke.
Picking up the man's Storage Bag, Li Tongya deposited the long staff he was holding into it, then tied the bag around his waist. Now he had a Storage Bag to use.
Without time to inspect his spoils, Li Tongya summoned the wind to fly towards Huaqian Mountain. He could see the distant figures still engaged in aerial combat; Li Tongya wielded his sword to strike the Huaqian Mountain's Array.
Atop Huaqian Mountain was no longer the original Earth-lock Huaqian Formation, but a new Great Formation built by the Ji Family. Nevertheless, it only offered Fetal Breathing Peak level defense, and Li Tongya punctured a huge hole with a single strike, which then slowly healed.
After slashing with his sword over a dozen times, and with the Lu Family people attacking from the mountain base, the Formation flickered uncertainly, unable to sustain its Mana, and finally collapsed with a thunderous crash.
"Charge!"
The sounds of swords and blades rose instantly from below, while Li Tongya concealed his form and plunged straight toward the courtyard.
The place was desolate and in disarray. Li Tongya swept the area with his Spiritual Sense to find that all the people had gone down to the foot of the mountain; several storerooms were empty. Li Tongya curled his lip, soared a circle in the sky, and found the entrance to the Cave Mansion.
The Array at the cave entrance was quite sturdy; it took over a dozen bursts of Sword Qi from Li Tongya before the Array flickered and dimmed. And then a loud boom resounded.
"Boom!"
In the sky, Lu Sisi, his True Yuan completely dissipated, his body charred and spitting blood, twisted and tumbled down into the forest. The bald man quickly backed away, exclaiming in shock,
"What kind of Talisman is this?!"
Ji Dengqi remained silent, his face ashen, he swung his sword at the man. The bald man quickly retreated, shouting,
"That Wan surnamed! I can't fight him alone, hurry and help!"
Li Tongya cursed under his breath and reluctantly gave up on the Cave Mansion. He rode the wind up from Huaqian Mountain, and immediately faced a Sword Qi shooting straight at Ji Dengqi's heart.
"Wan Family's remnants!"
Ji Dengqi's eyes bulged, he turned to parry with a side slash, scattering the incoming Sword Qi and swung his blade towards the head.
Ji Dengqi's True Yuan vibrated fiercely, and his swordsmanship was even more powerful and heavy. Li Tongya blocked several heavy strikes with his Sword Radiance and retreated several steps in a row on tiptoes.
The bald man's spell clung persistently like an incurable festering sore, forcing Ji Dengqi to turn back to defend, and Li Tongya's Sword Qi hit him in the back once again.
Caught between attacks, Ji Dengqi struggled for the duration of an incense stick before the cries of the Ji Family below became fewer and fewer. Grinding his teeth, he produced a Talisman from his hand and cast it out.
"Not good?!"
Li Tongya and the bald man hastily retreated, but the Talisman only floated in the air, sparking a few times. They looked back to see Ji Dengqi had already flown a long distance.
"We've been tricked!"
While the bald man was still filled with regret, Li Tongya had already moved several paces forward and said in a deep voice,
"We must not let him get away! Chase!"
Ji Dengqi had fought with the bald man and Lu Sisi for a while, and seeing that he could hardly hold on, he had no choice but to use his last resort Talisman. Yet it only brought Li Tongya into the fray. With his True Yuan nearly depleted, he was forced to flee north with all his might.
Only moments after Ji Dengqi's escape, a Jade Ruyi came crashing down on his head, forcing him to stop and hold his sword aloft to resist, effectively halting his escape.
Lu Sisi was awkwardly riding the wind with both legs bloodied, looking as if they were broken. The old man's mouth was still bloody, his beard and hair bristling, as he shouted fiercely:
"Don't let him get away!"
The impact of the Jade Ruyi allowed Li Tongya's sword to catch up to Ji Dengqi. Ji Dengqi, filled with hatred, went to block with blood-red eyes, knowing that today there probably wouldn't be a way out for him.
As Ji Dengqi wore a look of resolve, Li Tongya hesitated for a split second as he saw the bald man coming towards him, sword in hand, coldly fixing his gaze on Ji Dengqi.
Ji Dengqi let out a mocking laugh, unfastened his Storage Bag from his waist and threw it far away, then turned around with his sword to strike at the advancing bald man. The sword glinted with golden light, its immense power and momentum made it clear he was using all his strength.
Li Tongya and Lu Sisi exchanged glances, both using their True Yuan to capture the thrown Storage Bag, while the bald man, after parrying a few of Ji Dengqi's blows, was left with numb hands and weak legs, crying out as he backed off.
But Ji Dengqi, seizing the advantage, showed no mercy. With an upward swing of his long sword, he aimed straight for the chest of the bald man, ready to exchange his life for the other's. The bald man had no choice but to dodge aside, but he caught a glimpse of a chill glint emerging from Ji Dengqi's chest.
"Pfft."
As Ji Dengqi spat blood and turned around, he saw Li Tongya sheathing his sword and shaking off the fresh blood from the blade. Collapsing softly to the ground, he dyed a large patch of earth red.
The two landed a few more spells on him to ensure his death, then saw Lu Sisi, his wound already hastily bandaged, flying over with Storage Bag in hand and asked gleefully:
"Who will join me in raiding the Ji Family's stronghold at Huazhong Mountain?"
"You both go ahead, I'll search Huaqian Mountain."
Li Tongya sighed, disheartened, for the Spirit Stones and Spiritual Objects were mostly likely in Ji Dengqi's Storage Bag. Lu Sisi had been farther from Ji Dengqi, yet ended up being the first to reach the moon by mere proximity to the water. It was regrettable indeed.
On Huazhong Mountain, the Ji Family legacy was at stake, and having already made the Xuanjing Spirit Oath to share the spoils with Lu Sisi, he naturally had little interest. It would be better to check out the Cave Mansion on Huaqian Mountain.
The man with the surname An nodded and left with Lu Sisi on the wind, while Li Tongya turned back to Huaqian Mountain.
Huaqian Mountain was already in disarray, with cries and pleas for help everywhere. A circle of Lu Family members had gathered outside the Cave Mansion. Having seen him fighting alongside Lu Sisi earlier, they naturally bowed their heads to the senior as he approached.
Li Tongya nodded, spending an incense stick's time to break through the formation at the entrance to the Mansion and walked in boldly, leaving the Lu Family members staring at each other, forced to wait helplessly outside the Cave Mansion.
Inside the Mansion, Li Tongya was welcomed by a clear spring gushing forth. With a sweep of his Spiritual Sense, he reached into the spring and pulled out several Jade Stones.
After pocketing the Jade Stones, Li Tongya didn't stop as he blasted open a stone door and saw a tea table with stone stools, on which stood two Jade Bottles, one large and one small.
The small Jade Bottle contained Jade Sprout Pills, which Li Tongya collected on the spot. The large Jade Bottle, however, couldn't be taken, and upon scanning with his Spiritual Sense, he found that it contained a strand of nature's spiritual energy, sharp and dazzling. Li Tongya tied the Jade Bottle to his waist.
The rest of the Stone Chambers were filled with miscellaneous items, including several letters from Ji Family daughters, written with heartfelt sincerity and carefully hidden under the Wooden Slips by Ji Dengqi. Checking the dates, the most recent letter was from five years ago.
"So the young master of the Tang Jin Sect is called Situ Yi..."
Li Tongya frowned as he finished reading, a look of surprise slowly creeping onto his face as he murmured:
"The Green Pond Sect has been active in recent years, be very careful at home. If the Shanyue wants to invade from the east, don't compete for victory. That Great Witch has been waiting a hundred years for someone who could unite the North Foothills to serve as a Sacrifice. Under no circumstances should you kill him. The wrath of the Zifu Stage is not something we can bear..."
Li Tongya felt a cold sweat break out and his hair stand on end. He silently placed the letter into his Storage Bag and muttered to himself:
"No wonder, no wonder Ganixi attacked from the east at Lijing Mountain, and why the northern invasion of Tang Jin Sect went unheeded by the tribes—they asked us to hold back for now... Perhaps the Great Witch had paid a tremendous price, allowing the Shanyue invasions just to cover for Ganixi alone. How ruthless, what a grand scheme!"
"Sweeping through the tribes to create a single united great clan that has not been seen in the North Foothills for a century, and then using this child of destiny as a Sacrifice. How utterly vicious! When Ganixi dies, who knows how much turmoil will brew in the North Foothills again!"
Li Tongya felt as if the sky above was darkening. He slowly raised his head, squinting at the ceiling of the Stone Chamber, as though seeing through layers of mountain rock and a cloudless night sky, glimpsing the hands that moved the chess pieces.
