Fantasy Lord: Beginning with Daily Intelligence-Chapter 150 - 120: Kingdom War (Part 2)
In my memory, my son did not have such strong abilities.
Going to the Northern Province, in less than two years, he underwent such significant changes.
If his previous departure, where he garnered support and obtained Reine, was just the tip of the iceberg,
then stepping into the Northern Province was his true display.
In the purchase of slaves in Loren City, he even managed to buy a Half-Elf maiden.
Upon reaching his territory, he discovered a large iron ore deposit, and within it, captured a group of goblins.
He was also able to purchase the Stone of Thunder at an auction.
All of this made Count Engle feel as if his heart was continually being tugged.
He even considered checking his son’s lineage.
Is he truly his son, or a bastard of the Goddess of Life?
Alright, forgive his blasphemy, it was indeed too surprising.
Despite how well Count Engle masked his shock, Thor noticed it.
However, he didn’t mind too much.
There was nothing to worry about these things being revealed.
He didn’t fear any problems might arise.
In his understanding, this world indeed had the blessing of the Goddess of Life.
Someone could return from a trip with a giant dragon.
Someone might casually purchase a fruit, enough to advance them as a knight.
Others have received ancient legacies, gifts from the deities.
Such blessed individuals have appeared countless times throughout history, no matter how shocked Engle was, he would only see him as another one of them, valuing him even more.
And indeed that was the case.
In their discussions,
Count Engle’s gaze towards Thor began to change, unbeknownst to him.
Time slowly passed by.
The two continued their discussion.
Until nightfall gradually descended.
After dinner ended.
The crowd dispersed, and each little fellow couldn’t help but engage in a heated discussion.
Talking excitedly about Thor’s story as they left.
Morris felt extremely conflicted inside.
While Thor was summoned to Count Engle’s study.
Upon arriving at the study.
Butler Charlie closed the door.
Count Engle walked to the bookshelf and pulled out a book.
"Take a look first!"
"If the Beastman War doesn’t break out, then you will likely face this!"
Count Engle spoke with a solemn expression.
"Alright!"
Thor nodded and took the book.
It was a not particularly thick book made of parchment.
Thor sat down and began to read it carefully.
As soon as he opened it, his eyes widened.
"This is?"
He spoke reflexively, glancing at his father.
"Read it first!"
Count Engle simply said, then looked out at the castle.
Thor nodded, said no more, and began reading more carefully.
As he read, his thoughts gradually immersed in it.
Time slowly flowed.
The book wasn’t thick at all.
But Thor read very slowly, and half an hour later, he finally closed the book.
This book contained a detailed account of the matters related to the Kingdom War.
"Finished reading?"
As Thor closed the book, Count Engle turned back to him, speaking softly.
"Finished!"
"Father, are you talking about the Kingdom War?"
Thor nodded, speaking with some hesitation, then looked toward Count Engle.
At this moment, Count Engle did not immediately respond.
Instead, he fell into contemplation.
After a pause,
He began to speak.
"The Dressrosa Family began three hundred years ago due to a Kingdom War, when our ancestor, just a wandering knight then, surprisingly earned merits from the Kingdom War and thus was enfeoffed as a baron, marking the beginning of the Dressrosa Family. In the subsequent Beastman War, the Dressrosa Family risked everything, allowing our enfeoffment as a Viscount. About a hundred and ninety years ago, during the start of the Kingdom War, the Dressrosa Family was flourishing, with a Viscount family consisting of more than three Earth Knights. The family confidently participated in that year’s Kingdom War, seeking a higher title. Indeed, we succeeded; we advanced from a Viscount Clan to a Count’s Clan. However, during the Kingdom War, of the three Earth Knights and ten Great Knights, only Formal Knight Demon Dressrosa survived, who was my father, your grandfather."
His voice carried a sense of nostalgia.
Thor listened intently.
Though he knew something of the family history, he had never understood it so thoroughly.
Now he finally understood how his family rose to prominence.
Yet, after comprehending it, he couldn’t help but feel his brow twitching.
Especially about the second Kingdom War, the last Kingdom War,
wherein his family lost in such a heartbreaking manner with three Earth Knights and ten Great Knights.
Such casualties were terrifying.
"Father!"
As Count Engle finished speaking, Thor spoke reflexively, preparing to say something.
But Count Engle interrupted him.
"The Kingdom War is at most two years away; you should understand what this means?"
He spoke, gazing again at Thor.
"Sigh!"
"I understand that it’s a crisis, also an opportunity for me, and likewise ours, the Dressrosa’s opportunity."
Thor took a deep breath, then spoke.
He clearly understood the purpose of Count Engle’s narrations, the implication was evident.
"Indeed, it’s our opportunity!"
"And your opportunity!"
"To become a Baron requires a hundred points of merit, a Viscount a thousand, a Count a hundred thousand, whereas a Marquis needs to bring significant contributions to the Kingdom, securing victory in the Kingdom War."
"Becoming a Viscount might not be too difficult for you, but to become a Count, if the Beastman War doesn’t erupt, the Kingdom War is your sole opportunity, so is it for the Dressrosa Family."
"Are you prepared?"
Count Engle nodded, then looked at Thor with a solemn expression.
"I am prepared!"
"Father!"
Thor spoke seriously.
He felt somewhat excited inside.
"Good!"
"As expected of the Eagle of Dressrosa!"
Engle praised with laughter, patting Thor on the shoulder.
"Rest assured, this time, I will offer you greater support, hoping you do not disappoint me!"
His tone carried a sense of admiration.
"Thank you, father!"
Thor’s expression also showed a glimmer of excitement.
"No need to thank me!"
"I will give Dressrosa’s Eagle the chance to soar into a broader sky, you are no exception."
"By the way, that Elf Maiden of yours, be careful not to expose her."
"The Kalenina family, those guys are troublesome, and might even provoke the Elf Race. The trouble that would cause is not something you might handle."
Count Engle chuckled and nodded, then as if remembering something, reminded him again.
"I understand!"
Thor replied with a heavy tone and nodded.
He was prepared for this.
Anna was kept tightly concealed.
Except in the territory, few people knew, and even Morris was unaware of it this time back, to prevent any accidents.
