Fantasy Realm – Infinite Worlds Adventure-Chapter 335: The Start of the Auction!
Glimmerwhisk confidently strides forward, countless workers and players turning to stare at her.
Okay, it’s go time!
Alex walks closely behind, wearing a smug, slightly bored look as he scans the curious spectators with open contempt.
“Lowlifes,” Alex says to a group of them, who are laughing at his goblin friend, flashing them an evil grin.
“...”
“Did you see that crazy guy? I heard he got recruited immediately by Glimmerwhisk, the future head of the goblin union.”
“Look at that sword! How does someone like him even have that? Isn’t he new to the Realm?”
“OH MY! LOOK AT HIS HEAD! THERE’S A SPIDER ON HIS HEAD!”
“I don’t see it. Are you still drunk from yesterday? You seriously need to get some sleep!”
Heh, this is fun. I don’t like standing out, but walking behind Glimmerwhisk… I feel invincible. This feels fucking great!
Escorted by a crowd of goblins, they head toward the first floor—specifically, the largest event hall. Not a small venue like the one Alex had entered for the welcoming event, but the largest hall available, capable of housing thousands of players.
As soon as they enter the massive hall, Alex notices it has multiple floors. To his pleasant surprise, they're being led upward to a balcony reserved just for them.
When they arrive, Alex sees two goblins already seated, a few guards stationed at their sides.
Shit. That’s her father and her worthless brother… Go… something. Don’t tell me…
As soon as the two notice Glimmerwhisk—followed by Alex, Jewel and Softspark—her brother, Gojak, immediately points at them and shouts:
“HOW DARE YOU BRING THOSE VILE CREATURES HERE?! ESPECIALLY THAT DAMN SPIDER! I HATE IT! GUARDS, REMOVE IT THIS INSTANT!”
The guards begin to move, but Glimmerwhisk slowly raises her hand and whispers, “Throw Gojak on the ground and step on him for ten minutes. If he manages to get up, you’ll be punished as well.”
The guards freeze mid-step, then—with clear reluctance—turn to Gojak. In one swift motion, they yank him to the ground and begin stomping on him.
“I WILL HAVE YOU ALL KILLED! YOU WILL DIE! GET OFF ME!” Gojak screams, struggling beneath their feet.
The guards look mildly intimidated but continue stepping on him, preventing him from rising.
“Gojak… this was your last chance,” Glimmerwhisk says coldly. “Take your punishment quietly. If something like this happens again, I’ll have you imprisoned for a decade. You’ll be fed nothing but dry Kojo cakes and water.”
Her voice is terrifyingly calm, and even Alex feels a chill run down his spine.
Damn. She’s incredible… she really put him in his place. She can be terrifying, though she is way sweeter to me.
Princess Jewel is impressed… maybe Soulmate did not make a wrong decision after all. Princess Jewel wants to learn from Glimmerwhisk!
As soon as Alex hears Jewel’s words, a bead of sweat rolls down his face. He wipes it away with his hand.
No… I don’t think that’s a good idea. Stay how you are, Jewel, okay? Please?
Of course, Soulmate! Princess Jewel will remain herself. But she wants to learn and improve!
Look, you need to improve on your own. Don’t learn or copy others, okay?
Understood, Soulmate. Princess Jewel understands.
Feeling satisfied with her response, Alex gently lifts Jewel into his arms. He notices she’s still curiously watching Glimmerwhisk.
“Sorry for this, Father,” Glimmerwhisk says, bowing slightly in a respectful tone.
“This is fine. I should have handled it myself. I’ve clearly failed to raise my own son properly,” her father responds in a slightly depressed voice. Then he looks at Alex and Jewel. “You did a good job recruiting them. I’d say you certainly have a shot with this one. Ten percent, at least—that’s not bad!”
“Thank you. I’ll try my best,” Glimmerwhisk replies with a polite smile.
She gestures for Alex to sit behind her and her father. Gojak is still on the floor, no longer struggling, drenched in sweat as multiple guards continue to step on him.
Fucking trash!
Alex takes a seat, Jewel resting comfortably on his lap, still occasionally glancing at Glimmerwhisk.
Looking down at the crowd, Alex spots several strong-looking players wielding absurdly overpowered weapons.
Rubbing his eyes, Alex mutters, “Is that the fucking Ashbringer? A Zanpakutō? Are those… blasters?! Are people just showing off?!”
He can't help but blurt it out. “Heh, I’d take a few of those beauties for myself! Frostmourne would be even cooler! Damn if I had that I’d go crazy!”
“Dream on, silly,” Glimmerwhisk says with a teasing smile.
Guess… it’s too early for that? But it shouldn’t be impossible to obtain. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to grab some of those items… I wonder... do duplicates exist?
“Do duplicates exist?” Alex mumbles.
Glimmerwhisk shrugs but subtly points to a pair of players holding nearly identical weapons.
So she can’t outright say it… but she still gave me the answer. I love it when people bend the rules to help me! Screw the rules!
Alex also spots Rishi, Tereza, and Menchi entering the hall. Thankfully, they manage to find seats near the back. He waves at them, and both Menchi and Tereza wave back.
At least a few thousand players… 3,000? 4,000? Maybe 5,000? Incredible. And most high-level players probably aren’t even here—or just sent a guild representative.
It doesn’t take long before a goblin wearing dozens of gold and diamond rings steps onto the stage. He’s draped in an oversized, exotic-looking coat, seemingly made from tropical animals.
A few players start clapping, clearly recognizing him.
The goblin claps his hands—each clap unnaturally loud, almost like explosions—and the entire hall quickly quiets down.
[Host, the auctioneer requests permission to sell your items. These are the items in question:]
[Marked for Auction:
Chakra Metal (Light Gold) x6
Dancing Leaf (Light Purple)
Skillbook: Sword Proficiency (Blue)
Jutsu: Hiding in Mist Technique (Deep Green)
Kekkei Genkai: Ice Release (Deep Purple)
Jutsu: Yuki-clan Collection (Deep Purple)
Skillbook: Basic Chakra (Inferior) (Deep Green)
Minor Chakra Restoring Potion (Light Green) x3]
Well, that’s why I’m here. I agree.
“WELCOME, WELCOME EVERYONE!” the goblin bellows. “It’s an honor to host another glorious event for you all! For those who don’t know me, I’m Snazzik—moderator extraordinaire and the Realm’s most sought-after lover! Before we begin, let me bow to some of our sponsors: the respected head of the goblin union and his beautiful daughter. I’d also like to thank the Merchant-Alliance for supporting this event. If you don’t have enough FC, fear not! We are also accepting small and medium Soul crystals and buying them for 15,000 and 75,000 FC, respectively. You can bid, and we will automatically buy them, should your FC not be enough.”
Not them… I hope not too much of my precious FC ends up in their pockets. Also, these prices are way too low for the Soul Crystals!!
“How large is the commission—the auction fee—I have to pay?” Alex wonders.
“Just 25%. Don’t get greedy, this is nothing to complain about,” Glimmerwhisk says as she quickly turns around, giving Alex a judgmental look.
I was just asking! Also, 25%?! What a ripoff! Did I make a huge mistake?!
Snazzik begins his show:
“Now, you guys know me! I like to start with a bang! Deep Blue [Kidō Manual]! Yes, players, you heard right! It’s a Deep Blue Quality skill—one of the most versatile spell systems around, straight from the world of Bleach! For those wondering, Skillbooks can’t be inspected like items. Even the information about it is precious! But if you make a bid, you get access to some of the details!”
What a bullshit rule to make more money and encourage bids!!
“We’re starting at 50,000 FC! If you're interested, just use your system to place a bid! No mistakes that way—just tell your personal system the price you're willing to offer. But be careful! Once you place a bid, it’s binding and your FC is reserved! Don’t cry afterward! Also, keep in mind we’re bidding in increments of 1,000 FC—we’ve got a lot of items to get through and we don’t need broke idiots ruining our fun, right players?”
A few of them clap, while a few look slightly intimated.
50,000 FC for a blue-ranked skill? WAY TOO MUCH!
Many players seemingly agree with Alex, and for a moment, nobody makes a bid.
“Hehe, if you want to play it this way—fine by me. If no one wants it, we move on! Going once… going twice… Final call! Blink and you’ll mi—”
Suddenly, a number appears above the goblin: Player 32616: 50,000 FC
I see how this works now.
Bids start rolling in, and the item quickly skyrockets to 59,000 FC, claimed by Player 21672.
Snazzik laughs, clearly having expected this: “Last chance! Bid now or Player 21672 wins… last call… and sold to Player 21672 for 59,000 FC! Congratulations!”
Hmmm… this is fun.
Snazzik continues to sell various items from different worlds, along with unique, crafted items.
Every item sold is at least Light-Blue in quality, and Alex is quite impressed—though most are good, none of them are worth the inflated prices to him.
These items all cost at least 50% to 200% more than they should—at least in my opinion. I guess 25% really isn’t all that much, considering that even with bad luck, people are still earning at least 25% more than the market price.
After about thirty minutes, Alex starts to feel bored. Most of the items aren’t really all that interesting—or special, though he enjoys seeing different weapons and equipment from the most popular fictional worlds all the same.
Suddenly, Snazzik claps his hands again.
“I see people losing interest—you humans are so predictable! Now, we have our first special event! This one’s being presented by a newbie who just entered a level 5 world! I don’t know what kind of magic rituals he pulled off in that mission, but he hit the jackpot! I’ll first introduce the items before we open bidding, since some of them synergize with each other. You want to know what’s in store! The theme is… Naruto!”
Most people turn their attention toward the stage, using their systems to check the details.
Snazzik begins introducing Alex’s items: “A very useful [Skillbook: Sword Proficiency], and the corresponding weapon for it: [Dancing Leaf]—a Light Purple weapon, excellent for speedy fighters! We also have six—yes, six—Light-Gold [Chakra Metal] bars! They are rather small and will be auctioned off together! Trust me, 6 are enough for even larger weapons! What an opportunity!”
“But that’s not all! We’ve got our first item granting a unique innate skill—[Kekkei Genkai: Ice Release], Deep Purple quality—along with a full set of Jutsus from the Yuki Clan, also Deep Purple! That means you’ll instantly gain every Ice Release Jutsu! Yes, you heard correctly. A complete Jutsu system. Feel free to inspect the Kekkei Genkai, because it is one of the rarest items you will see tonight!”
“And it still doesn’t stop there! We also have a very useful Deep Green Jutsu, a Deep Green skillbook, and a few Light Green potions. Normally, we don’t even bother offering items of that quality—but since this collection is so nice, I figured we’d start small before going all in! These will do nicely to warm you people up!”
Alex feels a bit nervous as he watches his hard-earned items being announced for sale.
Snazzik starts off skillfully, selling the [Skillbook: Basic Chakra (Inferior)], the three [Minor Chakra Restoring Potion], and the [Jutsu: Hiding in Mist Technique].
To Alex’s absolute surprise—perhaps because the earlier items were too overpriced—lots of bids come in for each one.
The Skillbook sells for a staggering 31,000 FC, likely due to Naruto’s popularity and the item’s general usefulness. The Jutsu sells for 15,000 FC, and the potions—offered together—fetch 12,000 FC.
In just a few minutes, Alex has earned 58,000 FC from selling items that aren’t even Blue rarity.
Insane!! This is working out great!
“This is so boring!” Snazzik suddenly shouts. “Let’s spice it up! I’m selling you the [Skillbook: Sword Proficiency] and the [Dancing Leaf]—together, as a package! Starting bid: 75,000 FC. Not one FC less! This combo is worth at least that. I wouldn’t want to scam our newbie!”
I like this guy. He’s right—this is a fair price… at least for an auction. I’d actually be happy with that price.
“75,000 FC!” someone shouts, their bid appearing over the stage.
“80,000 FC!”
“92,000 FC!”
...
The price climbs rapidly, finally landing at 112,000 FC. Then, out of nowhere, someone bids exactly 120,000 FC.
“SOLD! Player 726, congratulations!” Snazzik calls out, visibly pleased, wearing a greedy expression.
I am getting rich!
