Chapter 129: The Blood Demon Sect’s trace

"There is one other thing you have to pay attention to if you are an enemy of the Black Wolf Guild. It is top-secret information; I am not allowed to share it with anyone. You will owe a favour." Hu Xian’er pondered for a moment and spoke.

"Do you remember the missing cases of cultivation in the Black Mountain range?" She asked.

"Yes, I heard about it; it has caused a great sensation." Feng Yun nodded.

"According to the intelligent, Hu San or the entire guild might have colluded with the evil force." She paused, as if weighing the next phrase. "Recently, the Guild’s movements have changed. They no longer act only as hired thugs. There are meetings — at night, outside the city. Old places. The ruined shrine beyond the east road has seen visitors after dusk. They come cloaked, and the Guild has been escorting groups of men into the foothills. Some shipments leave under the cover of darkness — not of goods, but of people. Merchants and wandering cultivators who go seeking the Black Plains and never return." Her voice had dropped; the words were factual but carried a faint edge of disgust.

Feng Yun listened, expression unreadable. The tiny lines at Hu Xian’er’s eyes deepened — she was holding back more than she gave, yet what she’d said was enough to point at a pattern. Black Wolf Guild + nightly convoys + ruined shrine = something far worse ongoing.

"You say ’cloaked visitors’," Feng Yun murmured. "Do you know who they are? Any insignia? Names?"

She closed her eyes for the briefest second, then opened them, steady and resolute. "They are very secretive. They hide like shadow-cloaks, and the guildmen who escort them rarely speak in the open. But there was one sign — an old bone-marked token. It’s not a guild mark. I’ve seen it once before, in a report years ago — an old cult symbol, long banned across the provinces. I did not think it had returned."

A cold little thrill ran through the room at that admission. Hu Xian’er let the silence do some of her work; the implication was loud enough. The Immortal Fairy Pavilion had noticed irregularities and had records enough to recall ancient marks. She had not declared an alliance with the sender; she had merely let Feng Yun see a sliver of a dark mirror.

Feng Yun folded his hands. "You give me a place and a pattern. That’s more than many. Why tell me at all? If the Pavilion knows, why not move against them?"

Hu Xian’er’s mouth formed a thin line. "Because they are very secretive, their hideout has remained hidden so far. If we act openly, it will startle the snake, and it will go hiding. And the Royal Clan of the Azure Dragon Empire hasn’t made its move yet; they are also waiting for them to come out. And no one wants to jump first without knowing the enemy."

"Hmm, this is indeed true." Feng Yun muttered softly, feeling a headache coming; the Black Wolf Guild was already a big problem, and now comes the mysterious evil force. Even the Azure Dragon Empire and Phoenix Dynasty are taking precautions against this force; it must be strong.

She rose with the same poised grace she’d arrived with, but the movement carried a new calculation.

The moment Hu Xian’er’s fragrance faded from the room, Feng Yun leaned back in his chair, fingers drumming lightly against the table. His eyes were sharp, but beneath their calm, countless thoughts churned.

Hu San. Quasi-Emperor realm.

Not someone he could take lightly.

The Sword Saint had recovered a great deal of his strength, but even he admitted his prime was not yet fully restored. Against Hu San, who could possess a temporary quasi-emperor realm cultivation, he could suppress but not slay. And if Hu San chose to flee, none in Black Plain City could stop him.

That was unacceptable.

Feng Yun’s mind turned toward the system store, the invisible screen only he could summon. Rows upon rows of treasures flickered before his eyes — weapons forged in the abyss, talismans etched with laws, formations strong enough to crush mountains. Among them, items capable of binding and killing a quasi-emperor realm cultivator gleamed with faint golden light.

But the prices...

Even with the millions of top-grade spirit stones from his newbie gift pack, he couldn’t squander them recklessly. These treasures were meant to shape his foundation, not simply plug gaps. Spirit stones bled away like water in battle, and if he ran dry, he would be nothing more than a lamb before wolves.

His lips curled faintly. "So... the only choice is to expand. Faster, bigger. Turn the shop into a river of spirit stones."

He rose, pushing the thought aside for now. First, he needed to plan with the Sword Saint.

The Sword Saint arrived swiftly when called, his long robes still faintly dusted with qi from training.

Inside the study, Feng Yun laid out what Hu Xian’er had revealed — the midnight gatherings, the cloaked visitors, the ruined shrine beyond the east road, and the old bone-marked token tied to an ancient cult.

The Sword Saint’s expression hardened. His hand, resting loosely on his sword hilt, clenched until the veins on his forearm rose.

"So, they truly dare..." His voice was cold, heavy as steel. "That token belongs to the Blood Demon Sect. In my youth, I cut down dozens of their elders, yet they seem like vermin; they return again and again. If Hu San has thrown his lot with them, then the Black Wolf Guild is no longer a gang — it is a branch of a plague."

Feng Yun nodded. "Which means rooting them out will be harder. Kill Hu San, and another rat will take his place unless we destroy the nest itself."

"Well, destroying the nest is very difficult. The Blood Demon Sect existed for a long time. They are the public enemy of the world; however, they are very good at hiding. According to the record, this sect has been eradicated multiple times, yet they jump out from the graves again and again." The sword saint spoke in frustration.

"However, if it is really the Blood Demon Sect, they would not come out of the shadows for one person. If they dare to come out, they will be hunted down by the world." The sword saint pondered for a moment and said. "But without the fear of the Blood Demon Sect, killing Hu San is very difficult if he uses forbidden art."

"Don’t worry about that; I will think of something." Feng Yun spoke.
