Farming is OP-Chapter 92 Lizardman Behemoth
We heard it right around the same time we felt it. With a loud crash, the castle’s roof exploded outwards as the boss shot out of the building. I felt my butthole tighten and almost cried out in fear at the sight of the thing. It flew up a few times, but thankfully, the draconic behemoth was struggling to move quickly. The thing could barely float with its wings, and it appeared to take a ton of energy.
As silly as it looked, no one laughed. The thing was still a twenty-foot-tall monster that managed to fight on par with bosses for one of the hardest dungeons I’d ever seen before, with the handicap of its size. If we only had to fight the boss, we might have stood a chance. But we were fighting off hundreds, if not thousands, of lizardmen that wouldn’t sit back and let us kill him.
Marcus spoke, and I heard a crack in his voice as he did so. “H-hold him off, I’ll go destroy the dungeon core, then we can run away.” That was an awful plan, truly terrible. The prince had already begun to waver; he was ready to run the moment we went in. Except we were completely surrounded now, he’d have to fight his way alone through waves of enemies to escape.
We could only fight for time, then hopefully find a path out of here after the core was destroyed, that was also while hoping the behemoth wasn’t fast enough to catch us. I could see some of the flesh dragon minibosses coming now… The one that killed most of the knights, I could see two of them… I couldn’t help but feel our chances dwindle. The only way to survive would be to turn and run right now, fighting our way out of the dungeon, hoping not to be too slow.
The same inaction I felt, so did everyone else. Only Marcus ran forward, literally jumping off the heads of the lizardmen to make it into the building… Honestly, flying into the building might have been the move if the behemoth boss hadn’t shown he could easily destroy it already. Only the combination of warrior in a garden and dungeon farmer made me feel like we stood a chance.
All of my stats, except luck, were over twenty, which meant my wives were all getting at least ten in each stat because of me. That’s why we could fight on par with the knight captain, mercenary leader, and village sheriff. I smashed in further, breaking my limits over and over again as I killed lizardman after lizardman. If we didn’t have the bonus stats, I wouldn’t have even hesitated about running away, but right now, fighting would provide the bonus while running wouldn’t.
These normal lizardmen weren’t even a threat, at least to my family. Every second, we killed one each, killing hundreds already, yet their numbers were still overwhelming. No, my wives were all monsters when it came to fighting now. Even Cherry was getting into the melee after nuking down a few dozen with fireballs. She wore the other robe that dropped from the dungeon, and a wand that increased her magical damage.
At least she did until she broke out a sword and shield and started cutting throats instead of exploding heads. Tems was mimicking Marcus, jumping up high and running along their heads; the key difference is that she was stabbing the backs of their necks as she did so. Silk was a ball of muscle; every swing of her weapon was the death of whatever was in front of her. She didn’t waste time killing single enemies; instead, she cleaved over and over again, cutting a path straight through the center of the enemies.
Sarah, Delilah, and Olivia were all working together; their teamwork made them just as effective as if they all had combat classes. Roka wasn’t much of a fighter, but the number of kills she’s gained would have everyone not believing that at all. Sophia was playing tank for the other members of the group. Every time she stepped in, it was to stop a terrible wound from appearing on our other party members. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
I hadn’t seen much of Millicent or Leaf; they were part of the group behind me, but I had no doubt they were making quick work of whoever they were fighting as well. I got an idea on how to lessen the number of enemies we had to fight, as I said. “Let’s kill the mini-boss dragons!” Everyone in tandem asked. “Why!?” I explained. “The explosion they do will cause tremendous friendly fire; everyone we kill will be dozens, if not hundreds, of dead lizardmen around them. We've got to do something before that behemoth makes it to us.”
We were making our way towards each other until Marcus ran past the boss. He slid right between its legs before it could reach down to grab and squeeze him to death. He was close to entering the castle, but who knew where the dungeon's core would be. It would make sense for it to be in a throne room, but it could be hidden in a side room, the basement, or even hidden catacombs underneath the castle, who really knew for sure.
We split up, each heading toward a flesh dragon, as we still had to fight our way there. Thankfully, the lizardmen were congregated toward the castle, and the side paths with flesh dragons heading toward us were less congested with enemies. There was a huge difference in these miniboss fights compared to the first.
For one, we know what the miniboss is capable of. Everyone moved in to slash and stab, then immediately backed away so they wouldn’t be sprayed. The caustic acid blood breath only dealt damage to themselves and their allies. Leaf put one down by herself with her super-powered charge shot, causing it to explode before anyone even made it into its range.
The fallout from the attack killed close to a hundred of the lizardmen who were making their way here. The second one was also quickly dispatched. After knowing that the boss mostly reflects damage, it was easy enough to know it was coming. The second explosion caused far more damage. Everyone hid behind walls, and I made a ceiling for my wives to hide behind on that side.
Hundreds dead, almost a quarter of the army we were fighting was wiped out by the two bosses exploding. We were making a dent, but we hadn’t even started on the actual boss yet. We still had half the army, most of the lizardmen warriors and mages were still alive, and we were in for a long, drawn-out, hit-and-run fight until Marcus came back and said the core was destroyed.
The behemoth chose the group I wasn’t part of to attack, and they were fighting the best they could, but it was like a bunch of children fighting an adult. As high as everyone's stats were, the behemoths were just more, and one mistake, one accident would have them being grabbed and pulped a moment later. And that was before he got pissed and started kicking and stomping in their direction.
Silk slashed at its Achilles tendon, but it was still standing. Attacks that should be debilitating were only irritating for the giant. I couldn’t ignore the enemies still left alive. We had a hundred or so of the stronger lizardmen to kill before we could help with the boss. I just hoped that the worst didn’t happen before we finished that group.
