Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 494 - 259: Strange Emblem (3)
Luo De picked one up, carefully examining it in the palm of his hand, without a single scratch.
"This box has at least two hundred coins, probably not earned in Long Winter Town, right?"
Luo De was thoughtful, looking at Durant, "Two hundred Gold Coins, do you think Sloer is merely the nephew of the Count of Rock Shield Mountain?"
"You mean, illegitimate child?"
Durant immediately understood Luo De’s meaning, "Those two hundred Gold Coins are not a small amount."
"Looks like we also need to pay attention to the news of the Shield-Breaker Clan."
Luo De put the wooden box aside, gesturing to Vivian to count them.
Luo De then picked up another wooden box, inside of which was a Dagger embedded with gemstones.
The handle was carved from ivory, wrapped with gold thread.
The blade was sharp as new, gleaming with a cold light.
Luo De’s eyes brightened, then he tried to sense it spiritually, and sighed helplessly.
"Seems it’s just a piece of craftwork."
Luo De casually placed it aside.
Luo De was not interested in such craftwork, better to exchange it for Gold Coins to buy slaves.
Can’t blame Luo De for being proud.
Now the Daggers forged in Frost Leaf Town all come with Armor-Piercing enchantments, such craftworks are useless no matter how beautiful they are.
Luo De opened several more boxes, all containing craftwork jewelry.
Luo De casually tossed one to Durant, "Inside there’s a necklace, pretty nice, give it to Stella."
"Thank you for your gift."
Durant bowed in gratitude, "Honestly, I’ve never given her any decent accessories."
After that, Durant took out the pearl necklace from the box and tucked it into his bosom, while the wooden box was tossed aside.
"This wooden box is quite delicate, I think it would be better to give it with the necklace."
Luo De reminded him, adding a phrase, "Just a personal opinion, not authoritative."
Luo De himself is only involved with Avril, not qualified to give such guidance.
"Oh, oh."
Durant thought for a moment and took out the necklace again, putting it back into the wooden box and tidying up.
Luo De laid other wooden boxes on the table, saying to Vivian, "There are some jewelry and gemstone accessories, pick whichever you like."
Luo De remembered he hadn’t given himself any gifts either and added, "Choose something for your sister as well."
"Baron, can only pick one?"
Vivian asked cautiously.
"Of course not, if you like them, take them all for you two."
Luo De pushed the box forward slightly.
For a few pieces of jewelry, Luo De would not be stingy.
"Thank you, Baron!"
Vivian left the Gold Coin box and started selecting jewelry from each box.
Indeed, women still like some pretty things.
Luo De snapped back, his eyes fixed on the other wooden boxes in the chest,
"Where are the Extraordinary gemstones, Sloer might not be deceiving me, right?"
Luo De’s entry as an Extraordinary Lord was still a long way from completion, urgently needing the Extraordinary gemstones.
As he spoke, Luo De opened the wooden box in his hand.
"Eh?"
Luo De’s eyes brightened — inside the box lay a palm-sized badge.
Luo De reached out to pick it up, a sense of coldness spread from his fingertips.
The badge was made of dim metal, with a bronze sheen but unusually heavy.
It appeared neither like copper nor iron.
The badge was nearly circular, one side had spiral line patterns.
While the other side was engraved with intricate designs, lines as thin as hair, densely packed.
"Looks like Wizard Runes..."
Luo De guessed, but couldn’t sense any Magic Power fluctuations.
Luo De didn’t hesitate, closed his eyes, and gently extended his Spiritual Power toward the badge.
A cold wave instantly surged, making Luo De shiver.
His Spiritual Power continued to explore forward, when Luo De suddenly felt an invisible resistance coming over, like bumping into an unseen membrane with his head.
Luo De gave a powerful thrust, and got bounced back instantly.
"Interesting."
Despite the obstruction, Luo De didn’t feel any frustration, instead, a smile appeared on his face.
After searching for so long, he finally discovered something good.
Though still unknown, anything that could resist Luo De’s Spiritual Power of thirteen-point-four was definitely not an ordinary object.
"Stop picking accessories, Vivian."
Luo De placed the ancient badge in front of Vivian, "Take a good look, have your sister check some alchemy references, see what this is."
"Okay."
Vivian set down the jewelry she held and focused on the badge.
Luo De then resumed searching.
Unfortunately, the rest were of little value, all jewelry and craftworks.
While the other boxes contained animal hides and herbs, of certain value, but nothing surprising.
Luo De suddenly felt a bit disappointed.
"That liar talks nonsense."
Luo De cursed under his breath, waved his hand, "Have the Guard pack these things into the box and take them back to Frost Leaf Town."
"Yes, Baron."
Durant nodded, immediately calling the Guard over.
As preparations were underway, Luo De decided to take one last look.
And just that glance revealed something amiss.
"Durant, do you see if the inside of these two boxes is uneven?"
Luo De pointed inside and asked, "Look at this box holding the animal hides, is the inside higher?"
Without waiting for Durant’s answer, Luo De squatted down, tapping the bottom of the box.
Thud, thud, thud.
The wood, which was supposed to be solid, sounded somewhat hollow.
Luo De’s mouth curved up, "Open up the bottom for me."
"Yes, Sir."
Durant displayed the dagger, fingers searching along the wood grain.
In the left corner, Durant found a nearly invisible seam.
Durant pried the bottom wood panel with the dagger, a slight clicking sound was heard, and one corner of the entire panel lifted up.
Indeed, with a gentle force, the panel came up.
"Sir, there’s really a secret compartment!" Durant exclaimed with joy.
Luo De nodded, examining the inside.
Inside was a neatly arranged compartment, stuffed with animal hides as padding, containing layers of Extraordinary gemstones.
There were four in total, green, red, blue, and purple.
All were what Luo De needed.
And in the fifth largest compartment, there was also a palm-sized scroll.
"Seems Sloer wasn’t lying."
Joy spread across Luo De’s face as he took and pocketed the Extraordinary gemstones one by one.
Then Luo De took out the scroll for a closer look.
"Sir, this looks similar to the scroll Sloer had." Durant reminded him, "It’s the one with the paralyzing effect."
"Hmm."
Luo De nodded, "Hold onto this for study back home."
Unknown things, plus prior experience, are not to be opened lightly.
Luo De placed the scroll back in the box, instructing, "Pack up the rest."
"Yes, Sir."
Durant nodded, just about to leave when Luo De called him back,
"Also, have the Guard bring Vika here."
