Chapter 278: Demons are back.

Aurora’s POV

Kovu then started scratching the door, and I walked over and then opened the door for it. It jumped outside, and then my instinct told me to follow it. I started following it as I wiped the tears off my eyes. Then it started running through the hallways. I started running after it to keep up with its pace down the stairs.

Then it jumped the window, and I had to take the stairs that led to where Kovu jumped from. Unsurprisingly, it was waiting for me at the end. It really wanted me to follow him.

I rushed then. It stopped at a particular hallway. I looked up to see the figure standing in front of him, and my breath eased. Everywhere became very blurry.

"Leon?" I stammered as he stood there, shocked.

He waved his hands as his eyes were also swelling. It was very obvious that he must have cried.

"Leon, are you..." I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t. I just ran towards him, and then we pulled each other into the tightest embrace.

"I am sorry, Aurora," he cried in my head.

I have never seen Leon cry. He has always said a man doesn’t cry. But today he was crying.

"I am very sorry, Aurora. I have failed you, not once, not twice, not even in a million times. I failed you so much. And every time I beg and I ask for your forgiveness, even though I know damn well I don’t deserve it. I am very sorry, because it is only you that can get and understand me. The whole saga with Sophia... although my actions are very bad and unforgivable, but my heart was in the right place. I did not want what happened to Kayden and Natasha to happen to us. I did not want to be blinded with love for Sophie and forget all about you. So I thought the best thing I can do is just to push you away and let you go find another better man. But I can’t. I just realized that that’s the most stupid thing.

"And it’s completely understandable if you want nothing to do with me anymore. But please remember, you are my life. You are my everything. You are the bane of my existence and I don’t think I can ever do anything without you. So please, Aurora, please don’t leave. Please don’t leave me."

I stood in silence... I stood in silence and my fingers went numb as my heart just stopped beating.

Every part of me felt numb. My body was reacting in a way that I did not even know it could react. It was almost as if... it was almost as if I could not feel anything again.

Who knew these words that I have ached to hear are now finally here.

Then suddenly, every emotion came crashing down.

And I held— I broke the hug and I held his face. I knew he was anticipating what I would say.

But then I just leaned in and I placed a kiss on his lips.

Who knew these words that I have ached to hear are now finally here.

Then suddenly, every emotion came crashing down.

And I held— I broke the hug and I held his face. I knew he was anticipating what I would say.

But then I just leaned in and I placed a kiss on his lips.

"Killing the bad ones," I said, shrugged, and Hazel nodded.

"A lot of bad eggs have mixed amongst the council, and they voted you out. Natasha and her sister Sophia used their bodies to buy some of the greedy old elders, and now they’re voting you to go. But don’t worry, I and Caspian are on the matter. But all that matters is that the both of you are forgiving each other. We are finally going to have our happy ending. And the only problem now is Sophia, the council, and the demons," Hazel said.

And the smile washed off my face. The thought of Darius and the others still outside just made my stomach shiver.

"They are still going to come for us," I said. "Darius will not relent until they come for us. For me. He was getting married to me already when Leon came to save me. He will not let me go like that."

Then Hazel held my hand.

"Even though it will cost my own life to protect you, I will. You deserve your own happy ending, Aurora. Do you understand?"

I nodded as Hazel wiped the tears off my eyes.

"Hey, look, little Heather wants to congratulate you." She turned Heather to me, and Heather was smiling from ear to ear.

"Oh my God, she’s growing teeth already!" I shrieked, and Hazel nodded.

"Yes. I was excited at first... until she started biting my nipples off. Children with infant growing teeth are the worst," Hazel said.

I tapped her shoulder.

"Even though I cannot relate, I understand you."

That was when Caspian suddenly appeared, and Leon stiffened. His eyes were hardly on Leon. Hazel immediately took some steps toward Leon and held his hand, protecting him from whatever Caspian wanted to do.

And Caspian just approached us.

"Congratulations to you both," he said.

And it felt like a heavy burden was dropped on my heart.

"I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but according to some research today... demons are hiding in New Orleans."

Caspian spoke, and my lips slowly parted, as Leon’s grip on my hand tightened.

"A witness says she saw a white-haired figure, pale skin, transform into a commoner today—meaning there were several ones. Meaning there are several demons disguising to be wolves in our park," he said, biting his lips. "The entire park and Caden are out there still looking for them. I would suggest the twins should be shipped far away with Lilith to Cyrius? in France while you remain here with Aurora."

Caspian said while turning to Leon, and Leon nodded.

"I will protect Aurora," he said, holding my hand tightly.

And then an idea popped in my head. I turned to Kovu, who was laying on the ground licking my legs, and then at Leon. Leon looked back at me and traced my eyes to Kovu.

"What are you planning?"

I turned to him with a smirk on my face.

"Something."

"Something?" he said, and then I pulled him aside.

"Kovu is our answer," I said quietly. "Kovu can find things. He is good at finding people. If we just need— we can tell him to sniff the demons out."

I said, and then Leon thought about my idea, nodding his head in agreement.

"That is a very nice idea, but he has not seen demons before. I doubt if he can be able to recognize them," Leon said. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

And then I turned to him.

"Yeah, that is a problem. We need something for him to be able to recognize them."

And then another idea popped in my head.

"Blood. If we can find the demon blood, we can show it to him. And then, with the sniff of the blood, he will be able to sniff them out," I said.

And Leon thought.

"How can we find the blood of a demon? There are no demons in sight."

"Heather. They said Heather has similar blood to them. Heather is our answer."
