Fated to the Alpha–And His Triplet Brothers-Chapter 297: Caught in the act.
*~Aurora’s POV~*
I sighed, then nodded, and she jumped.
"Yay! I knew you would. Don’t worry, there is no trouble from here. I have told them to come and meet me exactly in the next thirty minutes, so we will just stay here and wait," she said.
I squeezed my hands together, my heart beating very loudly in my chest, trying to calm myself down. Even though I know I am doing the right thing, the rate at which the woman will keep her mouth shut is not very high. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had gone to meet Darius right now to tell him the real truth. But I still calmed down.
Then, just as Sarah mentioned, he walked in, and Sarah immediately shut the door behind him.
"I’m very happy you came."
"Then you know what?" he asked. "What’s the situation?" He held Sarah’s hand tight. "I didn’t know that you are pregnant. I didn’t already know. But you are a witch," he said, and Sarah shook her head.
"I’m not the situation right now. Rather, she is."
He gazed at me and then turned back to Sarah. "Are you serious? Do you know who she is, right? She is Darius’s fiancée. I don’t want to get involved with Darius."
"You have to. She is also a witch, and she is pregnant. You not helping her means you are also not helping me. I just hope you know this, right?"
"No. My job is to protect you."
"You are protecting me by protecting her. Please, help her," Sarah said, and tears almost fell from her eyes.
The fact that she was helping me just made my heart swell. I mouthed, thank you, Sarah. Just thank you. You really helped me a lot.
She sighed. "You helped me first. God knows if you had not saved me from those demons earlier, whether I would still be alive and carrying my child inside of me. This is just me repaying you back."
Then she turned. "So, Zion, how are we going to get out of this?"
I turned to him. So his name is Zion. I nodded, and then he sighed.
"So, what’s the situation?"
"A healer came here and checked her."
"A healer? Does she already know she is pregnant?"
"Yes. Darius suspects she has been feeling very weak lately, so he called on a healer to check on her. And now the healer knows she is pregnant."
"So you mean there is a healer right now who came here, checked both of you, and figured out that you’re both pregnant?" Zion asked sharply.
I opened my mouth, but Sarah spoke first. "Listen to me, Victor. Seraphapt is here."
I stiffened. "I said her," I corrected quickly. "Not me."
Sarah exhaled in frustration. "I’ll also be in danger anyway. I’m a witch, I’m pregnant, and I’m disguising myself as a human. She," she gestured to me, "is disguising herself as someone who lost her memories and powers, but now her powers are actually fading."
Zion’s expression darkened. "You know this particular healer," I said quietly. "She’s not the type to stay silent."
Sarah leaned in and whispered something into Zion’s ear. His jaw tightened, and he nodded once. "Don’t worry. I’ll handle her."
My heart skipped. "How?" I asked. "How do you get her to shut up and leave this place without causing a scene?"
"I promised her," I said quickly, "that I wanted to use the pregnancy as a surprise. That I would tell Darius on our wedding night."
Zion raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
Sarah shook her head slowly. "Nina is not the type to believe such lies. And she and Darius go way back. If she connects the dots, she’s probably already on her way to tell him."
I slammed my palm against the bed. "I knew it. I knew not to trust her for a second."
"So what are we going to do now?" I demanded.
Sarah turned to Zion, panic clear in her eyes. "She said it herself. Nina’s mouth is too loose. She’s going to tell Darius. What are you going to do?"
"I’ll stop her," Zion replied without hesitation.
"Stop her how?" I asked.
He reached for his coat.
My breath caught. "You don’t mean..."
Sarah’s eyes widened. "Kill her?"
Zion didn’t flinch. "This is not the time to be goody-two-shoes. If I don’t kill her now, they will kill both of you. Nina will realize you’re protecting her," he said, nodding toward me, "and once she looks closely, she’ll see it. You’re both the same. A witch carrying power demons want."
Sarah grabbed my arm. "No—"
I held her hand tightly. "I think he’s right."
She bit her lip, eyes glistening. Then she swallowed and nodded slowly.
Zion didn’t waste another second. He turned and rushed out the door, disappearing down the corridor.
The silence he left behind was deafening.
Sarah turned to me and forced a smile. "Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Zion is one of the most powerful demons here. He’ll handle it."
I stared at her for a moment, then asked the most out-of-pocket question imaginable. "How did you even fall in love with him?"
She blinked. Then laughed softly. "You’re unbelievable."
"You’re a witch," I said. "He’s a demon."
She shrugged. "Love doesn’t care. Love knows no bounds."
I scoffed weakly. "Clearly."
She placed a hand on her stomach. "I hate demons for a living," she said quietly. "And yet here I am. Pregnant with one."
The door suddenly burst open.
The force was so violent it slammed against the wall, and before I could even sit up properly, guards flooded the room. Zion was shoved forward between them, stumbling as they pushed him inside.
"Zion!" Sarah screamed.
He barely managed to stay on his feet before another shove sent him crashing to his knees.
Behind them walked Darius.
And Rebecca.
My heart dropped straight into my stomach.
"So this is where you were hiding," Darius said coldly, his eyes scanning the room before locking onto me. His presence alone sucked the air out of the space. "Interesting."
"What is going on?" Sarah demanded, stepping in front of me instinctively.
Nina stepped in after them.
Alive.
