Chapter 53: Forgot His Mate.

"Asshole." She cried, slapping his chest in embarrassment.

"Just stating facts, Princess. You really do taste good." He continued teasing, laying on his side now, facing her.

"Please, stop." She pleaded, turning to her side, but with her back to him, beyond embarrassed.

"Oh. Someone wants more." He said, his eyes on her ass as he pulled her waist closer to him, so she could feel his warm cock on her ass, while he visualized the things he was going to do it one day.

"What the hell are you doing?" She asked, turning her head to her backside to see what he was up to.

"What you want me to." He said in a duh tone.

"And who says I want this?" She said chuckling.

"You. You haven’t moved your ass yet." He said, giving her a smug smirk.

"That’s because I can’t! Not because I want to!" She tried to explain, but Troy shushed her with his lips on hers.

"Can you explain the juices I’m perceiving right now, then?" He whispered into their kiss, shocking her.

But she couldn’t feel anything.

"You don’t believe me, do you?" He asked again, receiving no response, he slipped his middle finger in-between the apex of her thighs, dangerously close to her sweet pot.

He brought his coated finger to her face as evidence.

Bethany looked at his finger that was wet and shiny, glistening with her juice, but wasn’t ready to admit yet. She hadn’t felt anything, she couldn’t just accept.

"It can’t be." She said chuckling nervously, shaking her head. She really wasn’t ready for another round. "It has to be from the last time." She said.

"Oh, no, Love. It’s isn’t. Trust me, I licked it dry. Told you, you’re delicious." He purred in her ear, causing her to flinch.

"But don’t worry, we’re not going for another round. So long as you don’t want to." He whispered, leaning away.

Like a patient being offered oxygen after having suffocated for long, she took in a very deep breath, filling up her lungs to the brim, before letting it out.

That was close.

He scooped her into his arms, carrying her in a bridal style heading to the room door.

"What is it? Where are you going?" She asked, her eyes on him, trying as hard as possible to keep her fear of heights under wraps.

"I’m going to clean us up." He said softly, the vibrations of his deep voice, sending chills through her skin.

"Oh." She let out as she leaned into his , letting herself bask in his warmth.

On getting to her room, He ran a warm bath in the tub for both of them after placing her on the toilet seat, kneeling beside the tub with his arm inside, regulating the water temperature.

She just sat on the seat, her back hunched as she watched him closely, taking her time to take very good and detailed looks of his body.

The first thing she’d noticed was the manta ray tattoo that covered almost his entire back, the tail of the creature running through his spine, stopping just over his waist line.

The design appealed to her, tugging on her heart strings. It wasn’t just the fact that it was well done that did it for her, but the fact that it was carried by someone who was now very important to her. Someone she... cherished.

Her hand itched to trace the details of the design softly.

Just as she studied it, her eyes caught something that wasn’t completely covered by the tattoo. It looked like a rugged skin.

She blinked her eyes a few times, hoping to get a clearer view and when she did, she couldn’t unsee it.

It was a scary, those kind of scars that can only be gotten from a third degree burn, if not higher.

Subconsciously, she moved to squat behind him, her hand all ready on it before he could register.

The moment he felt something on his back , he jumped away abruptly, towering over her, his stance defensive but the look in his eyes was what actually scared her.

She’d never seen someone look so afraid, vulnerable and conflicted in her entire life. Most especially an Alpha. Her heart couldn’t help but bleed for him in her chest.

What happened to him?

"What is it?" He asked, anger in his tone. "I thought I put you there? Why did you have to leave that place?" He asked at once, almost livid.

"I, ah.." She stuttered from where she’d curled up beside the tub. Apparently, her words had left her to dry.

"You listen to the things I tell you, Bethany! You do not disobey me!" He barked, causing her to tremble, soft sobs escaping her lips.

She wasn’t trembling because she was afraid of getting hurt, she trembled at the thought of different things that were capable of causing him that much pain and trauma that he couldn’t even hold back around her.

"I’m sorry." She whispered in between sobs, her eyes on the white tile.

Sorry that you faced so much pain. Sorry that I wasn’t there to help you get through it.

Taking short fast breaths, he stormed out of the bathroom. The sound of her glass doors closing broke her heart into million pieces.

"I’m so sorry, baby. Really sorry." She muttered, breaking down completely into full blown tears.

After a while of shedding tears from her heart, she rested side ways on the tub, exhausted. She let her head lay on the tub a little, letting her mind wander.

She forged scenarios in her mind, cross matching them with the bits of his personality she was aware of, trying to decipher who he had acquired such scar.

’It was probably just a scald that wasn’t treated properly, Beth. I don’t think it’s that serious.’ Maria reasoned.

’Its not about the physical scar, Maria. It’s about the mental and emotional one.’ Beth explained. ’Didn’t you see the way her reacted? The mind numbing stench of fear and urgency that oozed from him, Maria.’

’I almost got killed, M. The recognition in his eyes was almost non-existent.’

’He almost forgot that I was his mate.’
