Chapter 92

~Jade’s POV~

The hallway outside the training hall felt colder than it had any right to be.

Maybe it was because I had just stepped out of the heated gym, taken a bath or maybe it was because my body still hadn’t fully recovered from what Xander and I had done inside that building.

Either way, the cool air wrapped around me sharply, making me suddenly aware of everything all at once.

My heart was still beating faster than normal. My legs felt a little weak. And there was a dull, lingering ache between my thighs that made every step I took feel... noticeable.

I swallowed, adjusting the strap of my bag on my shoulder as I started down the long academy corridor.

Focus, Jade. You took a shower. You fixed your clothes. No one saw anything. Still, my body refused to cooperate with that calm logic.

Every few steps, my mind replayed flashes I absolutely did not need replaying right now. Xander’s hand slamming the lights off, his mouth crashing against mine.

The way his thigh had forced my legs apart while he pinned me to the wall like I belonged there.

Heat crept up the back of my neck again, and I groaned quietly under my breath.

"Great," I muttered to myself. "Fantastic. Totally normal behaviour, Jade."

A couple of students passed me heading toward the science wing, laughing about something, and I forced my posture to relax.

The last thing I needed was to look suspicious wandering around the academy like I had just committed a crime.

Technically, we had broken several academy rules. Principal Vale would absolutely love that.

I pushed the thought away and kept walking.

At least the quick shower in the staff restroom inside the gym had helped.

My hair was pulled back into a fresh tie, my clothes were straightened out, and the cold water had cooled my face enough that I no longer looked like I had just been shoved against a concrete wall for half an hour.

Unfortunately, there was one thing a shower couldn’t fix — the scent.

Even now, beneath the clean soap, there was a warm, distinctly male scent lingering on my skin. It was subtle to a human nose, but wolves were not human.

Which meant if I ran into someone with a sharp nose... I exhaled slowly and turned the corner toward the central courtyard corridor.

"Jade!"

My head snapped up.

Isadora and Ziva were walking toward me from the opposite direction, their bags slung over their shoulders as they made their way back from the cafeteria.

In-perfect timing.

Ziva’s sharp eyes locked onto me first, and a slow smile began spreading across her face almost immediately.

That was not a good sign.

"Hey," I said, trying very hard to sound normal as they approached.

Isadora looked relieved when she saw me. "Where did you disappear to earlier? We waited outside the gym for a bit."

"I just... stayed back to finish something with Coach," I said quickly, shifting my bag again.

It wasn’t technically a lie.

Ziva stopped in front of me and tilted her head slightly. Then she sniffed, not subtly or quietly.

An exaggerated inhale followed, making my entire body freeze.

Isadora blinked in confusion. "What are you doing?"

Ziva didn’t answer right away. Her eyes slowly narrowed as she studied my face, then she leaned a little closer and sniffed again.

My stomach dropped.

"Oh," she said slowly, clearly enjoying herself. "That’s interesting."

"What?" Isadora asked, looking between us.

"Jade smells like the gym," Ziva said thoughtfully. My shoulders relaxed just slightly, then she continued. "And like a very specific Alpha."

The relief vanished instantly. "Training ran late," I said quickly, starting to walk again in hopes the conversation would die if we kept moving.

Ziva fell into step beside me, clearly not planning to drop it. "Sure it did," she said with a grin.

Isadora glanced between the two of us, clearly sensing she had missed something important. "You both are being weird," she said.

"No, we’re not."

I said at the same time Ziva said, "She’s being suspicious."

I shot Ziva a look. She only grinned wider.

Thankfully, we were already nearing the next classroom hallway, and the flow of students around us forced the conversation to pause.

We walked together toward the next building wing, the low buzz of academy chatter filling the air around us.

For a few minutes, no one said anything, then Ziva bumped her shoulder lightly against mine.

"So," she said casually. "Did anything interesting happen after we left you in the training hall?"

I stared straight ahead. "No."

She hummed in obvious disbelief while Isadora folded her arms. "You’re both doing it again." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

I sighed quietly.

Maybe telling them something small would be better than letting Ziva keep sniffing around like a detective.

"Xander asked me something," I said. Both of them stopped walking. I realized two steps later and turned back.

Ziva blinked once.

Isadora stared. "...What?" Isadora asked slowly.

"He asked me out," I admitted.

The silence that followed was immediate and dramatic. Ziva’s eyes went wide for a moment before she burst out laughing.

"Oh my gods," she said, grabbing my arm. "You’re kidding."

"I’m not."

Isadora looked like someone had just handed her a puzzle piece that didn’t fit anywhere.

"Wait," she said carefully. "You mean... like a date?"

"Yes."

Ziva clutched her chest dramatically. "This academy is officially doomed."

I rolled my eyes. "Can you not make it sound like the end of civilization?"

"It might be," she replied cheerfully. "First Silver asks you to the Valentine celebration, and now Xander wants a separate date. Jade, do you realize how insane that sounds?"

I opened my mouth to respond. Isadora suddenly stiffened. Her eyes widened slightly. "Oh no."

Ziva and I both looked at her.

"What?" I asked.

"You already said yes to Silver for the Valentine event," Isadora reminded me.

My brain stalled.

Right, Saturday. The realization settled heavily in my chest. Wednesday... tomorrow... was Xander’s date, while Saturday was Silver.

Ziva slowly began to smile again.

"Wow," she said softly, clearly entertained by the chaos unfolding. "You really are right in the middle of the Alpha Triplets now."

I rubbed my temples.

When she said it like that, it sounded even worse. And somehow, I had a feeling this situation was only going to get more complicated from here.

"Well, the Moon Goddess gave them to me for a reason."
