Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose.-Chapter 355: Beat me.
Leilani.
"Ignore me and shift!" He said, as if it was so easy to look away from a beautiful stark naked man who even with all the clothes in the world on was already a sight to behold, talk less of now.
Now that I could clearly see all the outlines of his body. Now that he looked so yummy, I could literally imagine myself biting into his shoulder blade—
"Leilani, can you hear me? I said let yourself go. Close your eyes and focus on yourself... your body, the small sounds that your flesh make as they ripple on your bones. Focus on the wind, the ruffling of the leaves..." he said slowly, his voice trailing away with the wind that now blew at my hair.
I gulped and turned away from him to focus my attention on the vast shrubbery spread out in front of me. But no matter how much I tried to distract myself with the greens, it didn’t help that I knew that he was right behind me, watching me, drinking me in... and waiting for the last pop sound that would unite me with the canidae part of myself.
A small sigh left my lips as I took a step forward, trying to follow all of his command, but all I was met with was pain.
This process was too painful. Too intense. It brought me to my knees and I closed my eyes whilst burying my fingers into the cold damp soil.
Tears streamed down my face and to hide the sounds escaping my mouth, I chewed down on my bottom lip, shaking all over when intense pain lanced through my midriff.
"I can’t do this..." I cried under my breath, "I can’t, Zevran, it hurts too much!"
My words made him scoot even closer and when his hand dropped on my shoulder, sending shockwaves running through my spine, I gasped, threw my head back and... and... my breath hitched again when I was met with his stormy dark eyes.
"You can do it, Leilani. I believe you can do anything."
Goddess, those words twisted at something buried deep inside my chest. It set my blood on fire and made my veins thrum with an unseen energy.
I found myself leaning into his touch even before I could stop myself and then I groaned. "But it hurts!"
I had half expected him to try to talk me through it, had half expected that he would even make all of this stop. But to my utter surprise, he didn’t say a word. He didn’t even meet my gaze.
Do you know what he did instead?
He pressed his lips against mine in a soft kiss, and then drew back to kiss my forehead.
The feel of his warm lips against my body sent all of my nerve endings into overdrive and I moaned before I could curb the sound.
"Do not moan," his voice was crisp. Hard and so cold it sent goosebumps spreading across my skin. "Shout instead."
And with that, he pressed his lips against my neck, just around the spot where he had marked me all those days ago.
This action nearly made me melt into a poodle. The amount of energy it sent rushing through my bloodstream was so intense that it made a strange kind of heat pool between my legs. It also vaguely reminded me of the fact that he was one of the people responsible for my biological father’s death; but in this moment, that thought was simply buried to the back of my mind.
It was dead and gone, leaving only thoughts of the sweet sensations running through my body in my mind.
Without thinking, I let out a loud shout, one so loud, it made the ground rumble underneath me. An ear- shattering thunder rumbled from a distance when I screamed at the top of my lungs, and I let the cold wind wash over me.
"Yes, just like that..." I vaguely heard him say to me before everything started to feel like they were floating around me.
The ringing in my ears also intensified, drowning out every other sound. And shortly afterwards, I heard a loud ear-splitting pop.
The sound shocked me so much that I flinched, and when I realized that it was the sound of my bones breaking for the final time, I stilled, welcoming the pain that followed.
"Yes, yes... baby. Just like that..." he whispered, and as soon as I heard that, heat flooded one more time through my body to settle once again between my legs.
But I didn’t pay too much attention to that. I didn’t even pay attention to the heat in my face and down there or anything else—
And then... the cracking sounds increased, dulling out the sound of everything else happening around me. My senses snapped into sharp focus and my vision, once blurry, sharpened so much, I could swear that it was almost possible for me to see even into Zevran’s mind right now.
I threw my head back when the last of the cracking sounds filled the air and when my limbs elongated so much until soft silvery furs sprouted out of my skin.
I also ignored the pain all of these brought, and with a grunt, I turned around to look at Zevran, in pride... to show him just what I had been able to achieve, but then froze.
Why?
Because he wasn’t staring at me in admiration or pride or any of what I had first imagined he would. He was glaring at me in fear. In unbridled panic. And he looked as though he’d just seen a ghost.
"Zevran...?" I tried to say, but instead, my words came out as a howl and he tilted his head to the side, watching me carefully before slowly shifting right in front of me.
"Let’s go for a run." I heard his voice but didn’t see him talk. Hell, there was even no way he could talk, especially now that he’s turned into his large black wolf.
I frowned mentally. "How can I hear you in my head?" I asked softly, unsure of what this was. And in response, his wolf came over to nudge me silently, its glowing eyes meeting mine for a moment as his voice rang in my head one more time;
"It’s one of the perks of being mated to someone." And with that, he turned away, but not after saying;
"Now, channel all your grief into a sprint, and try to beat me."
At first, I didn’t understand what that meant. I had no idea what he was talking about until he broke into a time, leaving me with no other choice but to follow.
