First Demonic Dragon-Chapter 682: A God!
Abaddon watched his son's body glow with a very clear feeling of interest.
He wasn't surprised by the fact that certain sins and virtues had chosen to go to his son.
Apophis to him was everything a dragon should be.
He couldn't say that he had ever once seen his son with a bad attitude or shirk any of his responsibilities onto his siblings.
And since the sins and virtues were bound to Abaddon, they must have seen Apophis doubly worthy due to their direct blood relation.
Abaddon didn't feel like he really lost anything, since he could always make more copies.
But even if he couldn't, he still wouldn't have any problem sharing a bit of power with his children just to see them grow a little further.
"Shiny!!" Courtney said abruptly.
Looking at their son, Abaddon and Seras couldn't help but agree.
When the light shining from Apophis had finally died down, he almost looked like a new man.
Seras had to physically close Tiamat's mouth so that she wouldn't drool all over the countertop.
Apophis' dark chocolate skin had developed a very faint glittery mineral like quality to it; almost like sheet metal.
His hair had retained the distinctive bright purple color that he had already become famous for; only now the color was much richer, and his waves were much more defined.
Even though he and his father already had a strong resemblance, with his more elevated handsome looks, that distinction was much more notable.
However, there was something even more worthy of note than a pretty face.
"Brother is a god!" Straga pointed in shock.
Now, Abaddon had to admit that this was a development that he did not see coming.
But, he supposed that it did make sense.
His son had quite a bit more power stored in him as of late.
Abaddon had already given him the power of order a while back, and that was already enough to push him from an imoogi to a full dragon.
Who would've thought that the addition of Humility, Temperance, Pride, and Gluttony would have pushed him towards the next stage of being.
"T-That's cool and all, but some of us were born gods, you know?" Straga waived his hand dismissively.
Apophis smiled eerily.
He flicked his finger and his impish younger brother went flying across the room.
Abaddon / Seras: ""No powers in the house!""
Now Apophis looked slightly bashful as he stopped his brother in midair before he could hit any of the nice decorations on the wall.
'Your mother would be so proud..' Abaddon thought happily.
He would have told Lailah now just to see the cuteness look on her face and hear the excited pitter patter of her feet when he told her their son had followed in her footsteps as a magic deity.
But if he told her now she would definitely come running and with Courtney still awake and right next to him, he figured now wasn't really the time to wake her.
"Thank you for the gifts, dad." Apophis said sincerely.
Abaddon had to waive his hand dismissively, since he didn't feel he could take full credit for this.
He was only planning to give two of the sins and virtues to each of them, not four. But Apophis was instantly chosen based on the content of his own character.
"Don't think anything of it, my son… Alright, it's everyone else's turn now."
One by one, Abaddon let each of the children pick their own powers after giving them a brief refresher on how they worked.
Though he did let them only pick two, he threw in the virtue of humility as a freebie.
He considered that one to be the most important, as he didn't like arrogant people so he didn't want arrogant children.
Besides; it was arguably one of the most important to have because it would prevent their strength from being siphoned, stolen, or sealed in any way.
None of his children's picks came as any surprise to him.
Gabbrielle wanted Patience and Envy.
Belloc wanted Sloth and Greed.
Straga asked for Wrath and Pride.
Abaddon felt something tugging on his hoodie and he already knew the culprit before he even looked down.
"C-Can I have one too..?" Courtney pointed at herself.
Ordinarily, Abaddon might very well have said no.
After all, Courtney was still just a little girl, and these powers had a tendency to alter their host's personality and behavior if they weren't strong enough to overcome them.
Courtney still had a long journey of figuring out for herself the kind of person that she was going to be, and Abaddon didn't really want to interfere in that delicate process.
However, he did recognize that denying her here and now might make her feel like an outsider in her own family.
She already didn't look like them, nor could she pull off the same kind of feats as them.
In the future she might begin to notice those things more, and they might seriously bother her. Just as they once bothered Thea.
As such, Abaddon temporarily suspended his usual principles just this once.
"Sure… but will you let me pick for you?"
Courtney's eyes lit up like clusters of stars in the dark.
She thought for sure that her father was going to say no again, but imagine the surprise she felt when he told her yes instead!
Finally! Her very first superpower!!
"O-Okay! I trust you!"
Abaddon smiled as he plucked one of the red spheres out of the air.
She wasn't paying a lot of attention to the explanations earlier so she didn't know what this one did, but she wouldn't tell her father that!
"My daughter. May you always take great pride in your status in this family."
Courtney didn't notice the moment where the light of the sin became much dimmer than before.
And she never got a chance to see it either, because Abaddon soon inserted the power into her chest where it immediately fused with her being.
Courtney looked down at her small, pale hands and clenched her fists a few times like she had seen her siblings do.
"I don't feel anything…" She said sadly.
"That's a good thing." Abaddon nodded. "It means you have complete control over yourself and your new power." (Abaddon believed it was okay to lie to kids sometimes)
"Really?"
"Really." (He admittedly was starting to feel guilty about this, but he was already too deep to turn back.)
The young kindergartner still looked a bit unconvinced, so Abaddon looked to Seras for help.
"Courtney baby, do you trust Mommy?"
"Uh-huh."
"Good. Give me your hand."
Courtney did as she was asked and handed over her palm to Seras; not really understanding where this was going either way.
Seras picked up a small dinner knife from the table and brought it to Courtney's palm.
She pressed the pointy edge down on the center of her hand and the young girl instinctively flinched.
However, she eventually noticed that she wasn't actually in pain.
Nor was she bleeding for that matter.
She looked down at her hand again and found that her mother was still poking her with the weapon, but now she realized that she wasn't bleeding.
*Gasp!*
*Gasp!* Seras feigned surprise.
"I'm not getting cut!"
"No, I guess you're not!"
"Uwaaahhhh!!! Best! Day! Everrr!!"
Abaddon couldn't help but laugh. "Are you really that excited?"
"Yea! I'm like 'Power-Man!'"
Belloc was a very proud big brother in that moment.
"Remember now, just because you're a little tougher doesn't mean you can run off doing dangerous things." Seras warned. "So no jumping off balconies or trying to stop cars with your barehands please."
Courtney gasped again and covered her head as if her mother could somehow see inside her brain.
How else would she have known exactly what she was thinking in that moment??
"I see I'm going to have to inform Adeline to keep a better eye on you at school.." Abaddon muttered.
"Want me to go get her?" Belloc offered. "Pretty sure she's asleep in Nubby's room."
Something inside of Abaddon broke when he heard those words but he quickly regained control of himself.
'It's just a sleep over, it's just a sleep over…'
His little girl still hadn't quite crossed that threshold into adulthood yet.
When that day came not only would he be supernaturally aware of it, but he would also likely spend a couple extra days in bed.
"L-Let's not bother her right now… I think it's time for your mother and I to turn in for the night."
"Awww..!" Courtney pouted.
"You sure you don't want to stay for a bit and eat with us?" Apophis offered.
"Now that I think about it, what exactly are you making..?" Abaddon raised a brow.
"Fried gravy sandwiches."
"…What the fuck?"
"You're a god now, son, shouldn't your pallet be a little more refined?" Seras snickered.
Apophis stared down at the four giant slabs of pork chops that were frying in a cast iron pan.
"…You're right. This needs bacon too."
"Christ."
