FLASH MARRIAGE; CHARMED BY THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE CEO-Chapter 304: Gwen’s Demands For Peace
Dr Vanessa opened her brown medical bag. She brought out her stethoscope alongside other medical gadgets to check Amelia's vitals.
"So tell me, Amelia, how do you feel?""
"Happy!" Amelia chuckled softly.
"Of course." Dr Vanessa grinned at her reply. "Is written all over your face. But healthwise, how do you feel?"
"Very tired." Amelia pointed out all her worrisome symptoms.
"She hasn't been able to eat anything since yesterday afternoon aside from the herbal tea I gave her last night," Maria added, her tone laced with anxiety.
"I see." Dr Vanessa attached her stethoscope earpiece to her ear and placed the chest piece on Amelia's chest, listening to the sound of her heartbeat. She carried out other vital checks before speaking.
"It seems you have been under some sort of stress lately, and it has greatly impacted your hormonal balance. This aggravated your usual pregnancy illness, the main reason behind the way you feel. Yesterday's incident worsened your already strained health and if you continue in this manner, it could lead to something worse."
Amelia's forehead furrowed. "What do I need to do doctor?"
"I'll need you to remain in bed for the next couple of days. Keep yourself hydrated and try to eat a little solid food even though you might not have an appetite. Aside from physically examining your growing baby bump, I would have loved to do an ultrasound scan. But that can wait for now until you are a bit stronger."
"How many days do I have to stay in bed, two or at most three?" Amelia asked, thinking of the scheduled meeting and photo shoot lined up for her.
"I was thinking of a week of bed rest. Your body needs it " Doctor Vanessa suggested.
"A week! Isn't that too long?" Amelia countered, frowning. "I have a photo shoot coming up."
"Okay...umm... maybe..."
"A week is perfect, doctor." Maria countered in a stern voice. "The photo shoot can be moved or rescheduled. I won't have you or my grandchild stressing. Okay." She kissed Amelia fondly on the cheek.
"Okay," Amelia replied reluctantly.
"That is my girl." Maria pinched Amelia playfully on the cheek before standing up.
"Carry on with your work, doctor, while I go fix my daughter's warm bath."
"Oh, mum, the maids can handle that. Don't trouble yourself."
"Taking care of my daughter is not troubling me." Maria blew kisses to Amelia as she left for the bathroom.
Amelia beamed at the way Maria was taking good care of her just like Blaze would do.

The Shawls' mansion...
Gwen seemed to be in a great mood this morning after her bitter argument with her father the previous night.
She slowly climbed down the stairs, looking captivating in her burgundy pants and blazer, paired with silver accessories, like someone going for an important business meeting.
In her usual cold manner, she completely ignored the servants greeting her as she made her way to the dining table where her granny and father were already seated.
"Good morning, Nana." Gwen plastered a believing smile on her face. She skidded over to where the old woman was seated and eating her breakfast.
"How are you, dear?" Nana Shawls welcomed a warm peck on her wrinkled cheek. "You are looking beautiful and cheerful this morning. This is good."
"Thank you, Nana. You look awesome too." Gwen pulled out a chair beside her grandmother and sat down. She placed the new iPhone Nora bought for her on the table and signalled one of the waiting maids to serve her meal.
Nana Shawls observed the coldness between father and daughter and decided to intervene.
"Gwen, why haven't you greeted your father?"
"Oh... I didn't see him there, grandma." Gwen replied sarcastically with a forced smile. "Good morning, Father."
Senator Gregory gritted his teeth but didn't reply. He was still mad at Gwen for leaving the house the previous day without telling anyone where she was going.
Even though Harriet dropped her off, claiming she spent the entire day with her, Senator Gregory wasn't completely convinced.
"Greg, can you at least respond to your daughter's greeting?"
"Sure, mum." The senator's cold gaze shifted to his daughter. "Morning, Gwen."
Silence followed again, except for the occasional clinking and clanking sounds of cutleries against dishware.
"In less than three days, Matt and the others will be returning home." Nana Shawls' wobbly voice broke through the silence. "I can't have you two always quarrelling and fighting. You need to seek out the unnecessary cold war before the end of today."
"Nana..." Gwen dropped her fork noisily, earning herself a disgusted look from the old woman. She gave a fake apology before stating her demands for peace.
"I have no problem with Dad. He asked me not to interfere with anything concerning this mansion and so far, I have been faithful. All I ask in return is for Dad to stay off my back. I am not a child and I do not owe him an explanation for whatever I choose to do with my life as long as it doesn't involve crime." Gwen added the last past, shutting down her grandmother who was about to counter her.
"Also, I have decided to partner with Aunt Harriet as a co-salon owner, and I told Dad that I need the sum of ten million dollars to help actualize my dream. But he brushed it off as if I meant nothing to him. He said he would never support me."
"That is not what I said." The senator lost his cool, dropping his cutleries nosily on the table, his cold gaze narrowing at his annoying daughter.
It felt as though prison had turned her into an ungrateful, heartless and selfish woman, whom he could no longer recognize.
"You came to me asking for an outrageous sum of money to dump in your aunt's business. When I asked you for a simple business proposition, you had none. What do you expect me to do, throw money away. Do you think money grows on trees?"
"Certainly not, Dad." Gwen mirrored her father's rage, her nose flared and eyes chiller. "I know money doesn't grow on trees. But I also know that money is pocket change to you. Moreover, how can you ask me for a business proposition when the business in question has already been established?"
