Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 200 Small Squabbles Between Husband and Wife (1)
Chapter 200: Chapter 200 Small Squabbles Between Husband and Wife (1)
Receiving Shen Xing’er’s expectant look, Mi Jing leaned over and picked up a small bag. She pulled out the contents while saying, "These are dried sweet potatoes that my grandpa dried himself. I don’t know if you’ll like them."
"I like them, dried sweet potatoes are delicious, especially homemade ones." Shen Xing’er delightedly took the bag from Mi Jing’s hand, then unwrapped it and started munching on the dried sweet potatoes, as if she hadn’t eaten for two or three days!
"Don’t eat too much! Dinner is almost ready." The old lady watched Shen Xing’er eating so ungracefully, and couldn’t help but frown, but considering she was pregnant, the old lady turned her scolding words into a reminder.
"Got it." Shen Xing’er chewed on the dried sweet potato, answering indistinctly.
Watching Shen Xing’er eat greedily, Mi Jing suddenly felt hungry herself. She reached for a piece of dried sweet potato and started munching on it too.
"Jingjing, are you hungry?" the old lady asked with a smile.
"Not really, just a bit peckish." As they were all family, Mi Jing felt completely at ease. She continued to munch on the dried sweet potatoes and saw the appreciative look in Shen Xing’er’s eyes.
"Zhou, go tell the kitchen to speed things up and serve dinner as soon as possible."
Upon the old lady’s command, Mrs. Zhou immediately headed for the kitchen. Seeing the stark difference in treatment between herself and Mi Jing, Shen Xing’er couldn’t help but sigh inwardly: People sure have different destinies!
"Sister-in-law, do you have anything else to eat?" At this moment, only food could alleviate the depression in Shen Xing’er’s heart.
"Nope." Mi Jing shook her head, then asked, "What do you like to eat? I can bring some for you next time."
"Sister-in-law, you are so wonderful!" Shen Xing’er exclaimed with gratitude and emotion. If she wasn’t pregnant, she would have rushed over to give Mi Jing a big hug! But then she thought, since Mi Jing was her sister-in-law, such a small favor should not trouble her. Therefore, she added, "Actually, there is plenty of food at home, but Grandma doesn’t let me eat randomly."
Upon hearing Shen Xing’er’s plaintive tone, the old lady immediately interjected, "I’m doing this for your own good!"
Ah, Shen Xing’er was almost getting blisters in her ears from hearing this phrase. Whenever someone stopped her from doing something, they almost always used "for your own good" as their excuse, which was incredibly frustrating.
Everyone sat and chatted for a while. Mi Jing and Shen Xing’er were deep in conversation, while the old lady and Shen Lingxing rarely joined in, sitting quietly on the side and listening to them until Mrs. Zhou came to call them for dinner.
That evening, Ma Huilian and Shen Jiajia were not eating at home. No one knew if they had gone out or were just upstairs and didn’t come down for dinner; anyhow, Mi Jing didn’t hear anyone asking about them.
After dinner, Mi Jing grabbed Shen Lingxing and accompanied the old lady and Shen Xing’er for a walk in the garden. But because the weather was cold, they went back inside after a short while. Then, at Shen Xing’er’s suggestion, they started playing Mahjong.
Among the four, Shen Lingxing had the best skills, while Shen Xing’er was the most serious about it. Why, you might ask?
Because Shen Lingxing always let Mi Jing win, and Mi Jing would then let the old lady win. Only Shen Xing’er did not give up any tiles to others, nor did anyone help her, making her miss Mu Bai dearly in moments like these.
If Mu Bai were here, she wouldn’t lose so badly!
Playing Mahjong inevitably involved real money. Although Shen Xing’er wasn’t short on cash, losing did make her a little unhappy, and that’s exactly how she felt now.
"Sister-in-law, how about we ask Yu and Yaoyao to go shopping tomorrow?" After the game, Shen Xing’er followed Shen Lingxing and Mi Jing up to the third floor. As they reached the door, Shen Xing’er suddenly stopped Mi Jing.
"Sure!" Since she had the time, Mi Jing readily agreed without hesitation.
"Great, then we’ll leave together tomorrow. Remember to bring my brother’s card."
After giving these instructions, Shen Xing’er slipped into her room. Mi Jing then entered Shen Lingxing’s room and quickly searched her bag for the card Shen Lingxing had given her. Yet she couldn’t find it.
"Can’t find it?" Shen Lingxing asked, noticing Mi Jing’s slightly frustrated expression after searching her bag and taking off his coat.
"I don’t think so." Mi Jing said, "I remember leaving the card you gave me at home, but Xing’er asked me to bring it tomorrow for shopping. Looks like I’ll have to get it from home tomorrow."
Shortly after they got their marriage certificate, Shen Lingxing gave her a bank card, but Mi Jing hadn’t used it. Since their relationship wasn’t fully established back then, Mi Jing kept financial matters clear, thinking that if they ever divorced, there would be fewer financial entanglements. However, as their relationship deepened, her perspective changed. She just didn’t have the habit of buying luxury goods, and for everyday expenses, she used her own card. That’s why she kept the card Shen Lingxing gave her at home. When she needed it, it turned out she wished it were in her bag, leading her to search thoroughly!
"Use this one."
Looking at Mi Jing’s concerned expression, Shen Lingxing handed her the only bank card from his wallet.
"What about you?" Mi Jing glanced at the card Shen Lingxing offered but didn’t take it, looking up to meet his eyes. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"I have cash."
Upon hearing this, Mi Jing’s lips twitched imperceptibly, finding it somewhat amusing but more so touching.
The amount of cash a wallet could hold was limited, and given Shen Lingxing’s personality and habits, he wouldn’t carry too much cash with him. Considering his status, carrying just a bit of cash—wouldn’t that be inconvenient? If he ever needed money and couldn’t produce any, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?
"I’ll give you my card." Mi Jing took out her card from her bag and handed it to Shen Lingxing, "There isn’t much money, but it’s better than nothing. The pin is my birthdate."
Without hesitation and without any disdain, Shen Lingxing gladly accepted the card from Mi Jing, who then took Shen Lingxing’s card as well.
"Mu Bai, you bastard! Get out!"
Suddenly, Shen Xing’er’s shout echoed faintly through the room. Mi Jing’s hand paused while putting the card into her bag. She glanced towards the door, then at Shen Lingxing, her eyes filled with confusion and concern.
"It’s nothing." Shen Lingxing said coolly.
Wasn’t his reaction too calm? At least consider that Xing’er was pregnant!
"Aren’t you going to check on her?" Mi Jing asked, a bit worried. Although she had never given birth, she knew that a pregnant woman’s emotions shouldn’t be too agitated.
"No." Shen Lingxing replied nonchalantly, with a laid-back expression, showing no concern at all for Shen Xing’er’s emotional state.
